Trying to light my scene for the image and having an issue.

I have opened a chor, deleted all the lights and ground. I want the scene to be dark. So when I import the set into the chor it is lit yet I have deleted all the lights out of the chor?

I believe that is a feature so that if a new user accidentally deletes all lights they will at least get an image.

Add at least one dim light and you should have darkness

It ended up being a material that had ambiance of 100. So turned off the mat r isl ambiance and got darkness.

Well just spent the last several hours working this, re-working it, second guessing myself, then finally saying "f-it" and sending it in as is. Sooner or later ya just gotta bite the bullet and do it, ya know?

Oh I'm sure there is much better talent out there than mine, but it's still a good excersise to put it together. Actually learned a bit on the way too, so I already won!

I'm with you, Paul. It's nice to have an excuse to try something new and I don't think there have been many projects I've done on A:M that didn't add to my learning of A:M. (If it's even possible to learn it all.)

I can't wait to see all the entries. This is a really cool topic for an image contest.

I hadn't planned to be in Springfield but... if you are going to be there I might just make the trip.

Will you be there and free any time on Wednesday (earlier preferred) or more optimally Thursday (anytime)?

Tuesday (anytime) might also work well.

The important thing would be to get together if even only for a short visit.

You might then say, "Good grief, I never want to see THAT guy again!" ;)

Rodney, I will be in lovely Springfield from Monday afternoon through 4 am Friday morning! Lucky me.

I'm usually out of the clients office by 5 each night, but might be able to duck out a tad earlier unless there are meetings that get scheduled (they tend to pop up like weeds in your yard). I'm sure we can find a time that works.

I'll check with my family, deconflict on my end and pick a date/time.

From there we'll see if that date/time works for you. :)

Just a suggestion for this contest. To avoid the several re-starts to the vote, could the voting page be set up as a preview first to allow everyone to confirm that their entry is present before actual voting starts?

Give everyone 24 hours to report a problem and then make the vote live after that?

That way, we don't repeat the fiasco last time with missing entries and three or four voting sessions that were thrown out.

Once again i had to defer some grand plans but I did get my entry in.

Yes, I think a one-day exhibition would help sort out missed entries.

Here's were I post my lame notice that due to other priorities I didn't get my entry submitted.

It's just as well as too many elements hadn't come together yet.

After the contest is over I'll share what I was playing at.

Good luck to all contestant entrants!

I will post the vote in this tread tomorrow morning then make it go live in the evening I did not get time today to check get it up today.

So many changed in the new updates are making something slow for me.

There is a delay in getting the vote up the old vote software does not work. We bought a new one but it's not installing I have but about 7 hours into it but it's still not working I have an email into them but If not i will look for a new one. later tonight if they do not get back to me. I need a break! . If anyone is ever looking to get a new server do not buy one 3 days after release(Ubuntu 14.04) you will hate it and be working all the time till other programs catch up.
