NancyGormezano
Sounds like a:m report time, with the simplest case you can provide. I haven't tried SSS in 16rc1, but will try to run a quick test later.
*A:M User* Shelton Posted January 3, 2011 Author *A:M User* Share Posted January 3, 2011 The new test were without SSS ao or anything. Just trying to render the files.
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted January 3, 2011 Hash Fellow Share Posted January 3, 2011 Strange result! I'd start removing material or groups one at time until something changes, then you know what might be doing it.
NancyGormezano
I just tried (I just put some red pants on my nude lion) - and got funny results in 16rc1/32 pc. But after I closed A:M and restarted - I got results same as 16beta5, and what I would expect. Try closing and restart 16rc1 I have been noticing similar funny inconsistent renders with hair & groups with bitmap plus material on the hair groups - these problems might be related, or maybe not. HomeSlice
Have you removed the SSS group? Have you tried making a simple sphere with SSS applied to one half of it? If you can get a very simple project to consistently display the error, it will be much easier to fix.
*A:M User* Shelton Posted January 3, 2011 Author *A:M User* Share Posted January 3, 2011 Holmes I have done exactly what you have described. Started new prj then set a sphere and applied SSS and got sss render. If I remove the group and try to render the sphere it is black. *A:M User* Shelton Posted January 3, 2011 Author *A:M User* Share Posted January 3, 2011 Went through all the options and the plug in shaders were selected. Deselected and viola. So is there a problem with the shadres? Steve

*A:M User* Shelton Posted January 4, 2011 Author *A:M User* Share Posted January 4, 2011 I had skin turned on. Then tried SSS and left skin on. When I started new prj sharada were still on? Steve
NancyGormezano
I have sss, and skin shader on the skin, matcap on the pants, and fakeao all going. Perhaps upload your simple model that fails in 16rc1. Hard to figure out what lighting should be for sss & matcap & fakeao all together. jakerupert
Hi Nancy, To my taste the SSS doesn`t add anything good. The skin looks like from Madame Tussauds cabinet. (waxy) (That also goes for the Forwood chara.) Sorry, but am I alone with my opinion? (Maybe the AM SSS is not really at the breakingpoint yet?) NancyGormezano
Well here is the character I have been working on just at the beginning. Is this the one that fails? Or has the problem gone away? Are you wanting both skin shader & sss on the skin? Sorry, but am I alone with my opinion. I think the use of sss is a matter of taste, and finding the right RGB extinction values for each character. I have not used sss on any of my characters. I put it on the lion for testing purposes only.
*A:M User* Shelton Posted February 14, 2011 Author *A:M User* Share Posted February 14, 2011 Well the knee is allowing me to work and get back to things. I decided that Cupid will be more of a child. Since the knee prevented me from a tv commercial, I will use the characters from it in Cupid. So here is a revision of Cupid with the old wing. I will redo the wing tonight and upload some new shots later. Steve
