  2. You want the light to have a pattern or other arbitrary shape to it? You can paint the shape on a (typically) square bitmap in a paint program and drop it on a klieg light. I believe black is opaque and white is transparent and you can blur your shape in the paint program for fuzzy edges if you want them. Note that the light will only use the circular area that can fit inside the square.
  3. I'm not sure what I'm looking at in that screen shot. AFAIK, a PRJ is a PRJ in any version. PRJs can have things embedded in them or they can reference files that are not embedded and saved elsewhere.
  4. I can't tell exactly but maybe you left some five-point areas when you deleted a spline. The other splines would still be there but not fill in. If there's something there you don't want, you can still select it and delete it.
  5. I'm not sure what you are trying to do.
  6. Was it an explicit crash or a freeze or some other indication of no-longer-workingness?
  7. Cool spider! Good "cliff-hanger" scene.
  8. A new OS will be like a new computer. You'll need a new code. I doubt they've blocked you. Try a brief message on their facebook page mentioning that you can't get an email message thru. can no longer update? The v15j installer won't run?
  9. If you mean adding the specularity, do that inthe rpoerties for the group. I f you mean filling in the hole... FillingLathedHole.mov
  10. What windows are you on and how much RAM do you have? We ought to be able to do better than 160 MB.
  11. Where are you seeing that? I see this for step 4
  12. That is curious... i presume you have eliminated a displacement possibility from any maps or materials. And both of those shots are the same frame. Just to try... delete all materials and maps from that model and see what happens.
  13. Looks great either way! I suppose a light rig could have gotten you the AO in 2003.
  14. I like those! Congrats on the gig!
  15. I've said it before but I'll say it again... May the festively-colored Bird of Birthday Happiness descend upon you and lay a flaming birthday cupcake in your path!
  16. I haven't read it closely. Just try to approximate what he has. Open up?
  17. Simple rule of lathing... use as few cps as needed to make the shape. If you need another ring somewhere later it's still easy to stitch it in manually.
  18. You can't count them on the spline? I haven't read the whole tut.
  19. A transparency map and a color map will work also. I suppose the advantage of a material is you can pack both the transparency and color into that one material if you wish but it's a minor point if you are more familiar with painting materials.
  20. That looks like Kate Bradley used to have on Petticoat Junction, although i never saw her put any wood into it.
  21. That looks cool.
  22. Motion blur is image-wide. Faster moving things will exhibit more of it. The non-multi-pass version of motion blur has some sort of a threshold of motion, below which it doesn't bother to add any.
  23. I had never thought of trying to weight with mirror mode on. I'm surprised that got any result at all. btw, you can edit weights in an action and the weights will be changed in the model; maybe that's what you were doing but it sounded like you were switching between the model and the action to check the results.
  24. If it always looked great the first time you tried it, everyone would be doing it. Remember to never have one spline end where two other splines are already crossing. And what vertex said... that arm is too low on the torso.
