  1. Is there a pose that needs to be turned on?

    5 FPS

If you want 5fps you can indeed set your Project to 5fps. I'm surprised that AVI supports 5 fps but it does indeed store the frames that way. that will depend on the DVD program. A:M can convert such file to 30 fps, i believe. If not, QT PRo can do it.
  3. Are we looking up a cliff? Something like the cliffs of Dover? Some sort of "sky" in there would help establish the viewpoint.
  4. That looks great! I did a slightly similar maneuver for the magic rope in my BUS STOP segment. Technically it should be possible to use patch images for this sort of thing but I found they didn't shade right.
  5. I was skeptical at first but in off-line conversations I've had people mention they liked it without any prompting from me.
  6. Typically in CG, if you want to drop out a solid background you render with an alpha channel. Can you show a frame from your project and explain what you want to disappear?
  7. I had clicked on that chip too to try to see that clip. Glad someone asked where it was!
  8. Thank you for all the birthday wishes! I haven't done a single A:M thing today. Perhaps tomorrow I will do two.
  9. that's about 50 cents per view. Makes me wonder how anyone sells anything onthe web. Have you consider an infomercial?
  10. Feature already in A:M? You decide! IKmakesFK.mov
  11. Repositioning the pivot would be within the scope of awkward things that professionals grit their teeth and live with, but probably daunting for new users. If you make that ear a named group it will save a custom pivot point (although there were some older versions where that didn't work). If the pivot point was getting left behind you could reset it quickly by unselecting the group, then re selecting it in the PWS. I'm not sure what happens to a custom pivot point after some muscle mode animation has been done. My own preference for a floppy ear would be to rig it with a bone rather than use muscle mode animation, but the author may be using this as a sample case to introduce the concept of muscle mode animation.
  12. Although we rarely do it anymore, in A:M you can set up a chain of bones, pose them as if they were IK and they will interpolate as if they have been keyed in FK. So I wonder if this Pixar thing is a similar result.
  13. I think they are trying to get something other than the straight-line inbetween of two poses, but you'd have to digest a lot of jargon to know. "Evaluation time"?
  14. the language in the patent is pretty dense, I'm not sure what it is they are patenting that is new... http://www.freepatentsonline.com/8358311.html
  15. The realtime view has an adjustable subdivision... PageUp: smoother, slower PageDown: flatter, faster
  16. Markw is likely right. If you have created a lathe outline with some CP on the center (or worse... crossing over the center), nudge it with the cursor key until it is just barely to the side. It doesn't have to be much. Welcome to A:M!
  17. If you like the topology of a polygon model, I'd recommend importing it into a model (instead of as a Prop) and deleting the splines you don't want and leaving just the ones you do want. I have used that subtraction method on polygon models with Quads and that works well. A little bit of spline breaking and reconnecting is needed to make good A:M patches in some places but I think this is faster for this case than remaking the mesh from scratch wit Snap-to-Surface.
  18. Ouch. He must have landed in something really sticky.
  19. In the Project Workspace, on the Images folder> Import> Image Sequence I just checked that in v10.5 Welcome to A:M! you are in the right place to ask questions.
  20. OK, I read this a bit closer now. Force Keyframe, by default, will only force keyframes on things that already have a keyframe somewhere in the timeline. Holding down the SHIFT key while using Force Keyframe brings up an option window that can key EVERYTHING. This is risky to do. Have you seen my "keyframing basics" videos. I think one of them , at least, covers that. In the Screencams link in my signature.
  21. First, make sure you don't have the A button OFF.
  22. I Haven't tried a Darksim but if you are in a pinch you might temporarily edit a material to make its bump pattern appear as a grayscale color, then bake that and swap the map that results from that with the regular bump map.
  23. Yeah CPU speed is probably still the biggest indicator. We're comparing apples to prunes here. Mmmm... prunes... I need lunch.
  24. That looks threatening! I suppose if you could try a soft edge on the clouds But I like solid clouds you have.
  25. I just tried it with a decal and i got visible stuff on the baked bump map. Something else is wrong.
