Link: Gaming seems to be the real key to making this technology ubiquitous. Here's a link to their site: http://tech.yostengineering.com/3-space-sensor As near as I can tell each sensor sells for about $300. (This is the Bluetooth sensor) I would expect that price to fall pretty fast if it's going to sync in with the gamers. It's just a matter of time before you are walking around inside of A:M while drawing splines and extruding patches in realtime 3D. Here are some of the downloads and documentation.

If you visit the Adobe site or attempt to update to the recently released Adobe Reader XI you'll currently get an update to Adobe Reader X instead and if attempting to update via the Reader itself a message that says you are currently up to date. This despite the fact that the Adobe site showing the XI version available for download. Since the XI release has been out since late Sep I can only assume the current buglist is large enough to keep Adobe from promoting/releasing it fully. For those interested the XI release is available at the following location: http://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatet.../11/11.0.0.html DISCLAIMER: YOU SHOULD READ THROU…

Here's something to put on your radar. Not long ago I said, "The time is coming and now is that rendering (as we know it) will be obsolete." or something to that effect. This site is an example of the moving in that direction. Although this is not a renderer as we know it the site does purport to encode media with a hands off approach. What does that mean to you? If you've already rendered a file and need it converted to another format you don't have to spend time rerendering or searching for proper programs and codecs if you can drag and drop the file and get the conversion done while you do other (more important) work. Concerns about security? …

You are now free to sing "Happy Birthday" and use it in your movies without paying royalties. The rigorously enforced copyright, which all the facts indicated was invalid, has been declared invalid by a Federal Court. This one has actually been all they way to the Supreme Court before with a win for the copyright claimants, but now that is over... for now. ‘Happy Birthday to You’ copyright thrown outand ‘Happy Birthday’ Copyright Invalidated by Judgealso... Here's a great 1923 Hollywood fan magazine feature on the power of the eyes to convey mood. We often think "happy " and "sad" are about the mouth making a smile or frown, but the eyes are really the big players on the face. Eye direction, eyebrows, eyelids and the tilt of the head are doing the work here. Your A:M characters can do this too.

Recent US court ruling in favor of ISP allowing them to favor some traffic and disadvantage other. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/01/14/n..._n_4597831.html I don't know where an independent presence like Hash, Inc would fall on the favored/disadvantaged line. I'm going to guess that Youtube might go into the disadvantaged hole unless Google starts paying ISPs to favor it.

Soooo…… with the world moving over to ARM architecture, will there be a ground up rebuilt version of AM for ARM ? Seriously those Apple Silicone machines pack some punch for the level power efficiency, now Microsoft is following suit too with Windows 11. Sure each platform has translation layers to emulate non arm coded apps but eventually native applications will need to be written. I’m actually dying to see AM run on a M1 Max / Ultra through emulated Windows 11 which has support for x86 coded apps with non native arm support - apparently those machines can certainly cut the mustard with multiple layers of emulation happening … just thinking about the future …. And if a…

I remember a training DVD for Hash Animation Master way back in 2005 that was taught by a female instructor. The DVD mostly focused on theory of what makes animation believable. It was a very comprehensive resource but I can't recall what the title of the DVD was. I believe it was featured on the Hash site back then as well. Can anyone refresh my memory? Thanks.

While I'm in the mood, I'm looking for some real projects to model (characters or soft body - not hard surface). Not talking designing the characters - if you have model sheets or well drawn concept images - hey I'm looking for something to do (free of charge). I need to hone my skills. Cheers

After installing AM.V16 on my new computer WIn10 64b I can't write out avi files. For some reason it gives me a stream error : AVIFileCreateStream Error : C:/ProgramFiles/HashInc/V16.0/Libarys/indy_thom.avi I see the counter runs on, but the file gets jammed. I never had this error with the program. Does anyone encounterd this before, or is it Win10 Pro that blocks up. Some avi files play, other won't because of a codeck.

If you like long articles with narrow focus, NY Times has one about the sudden influence of Japanese style in the 19th century How Japonisme Forever Changed the Course of Western Design Although it is not covered in this article I imagine the graphic flatness and clarity of Japanese drawing was some influence in moving newspaper cartooning away from the over-detailed and over-rendered style of a Thomas Nast in the later 19th Century to the simplicity of a George "Krazy Kat" Herriman in the early 20th.

Robcat suggested that I post these on the Forum. This conglomoration of musicians and I have been peforming at a local Wine tasting lounge every Wednesday for two years. This is a test animation. The Sax player has quit coming so I made a new "photo". Our motto is "Don't get your knickers in a twist, have a glass of wine!" More animation to come.

Rodney and I have been learning C++ and now we are looking at MFC with an eye to writing A:M plugins MFC or Microsoft Foundation Class is an addition to C++ that handles standard Windows GUI elements like menus and dialogs and interactions with the main program. WinTester.exe is my first program using these. WinTester.zip WinTester has an "Exercise" menu with four choices: Blank - erases screen Red Rectangle - makes one Gradient - asks you to input RGB values for start and end colors and will draw a smooth transition between the two. Ballistic - will plot a projectile path based on parameters you input... X and Y de…

So as you probably have noticed, I don't just love Animation: Master, but I’m also very interested in its’ development history and I just wanted to know what .prj scene files were included at the time on the CDs of the software. Were some of them scenes from the showcase gallery here? https://forums.hash.com/gallery/album/1-showcase/ If yes, then which of them were in these two versions? Also for the scenes that are not included in the gallery, could you show me some wireframe screenshots and final renders of what they looked like (including information about which were included on which CD)? I’m talking about .prj files which are not included in the Extras CD…

I know we have a number of self-employed freelance artists here and people with "day jobs" that have inadequate or over-expensive health insurance. The ACA should be a dramatic improvement in that situation. Forget the hysteria you've seen on cable TV, here is a low-drama explanation of what to expect and what to do. The Uninsured Musician’s Guide to The Affordable Care Act If you want coverage to start on Jan 1 you need to get enrolled by Dec 15. The actual Healthcare.gov website that handles enrollment on the internet seems to be a work-in-progress still. I'd say wait a couple weeks on it. People do report that enrolling by phone or paper form is…

I have made a model, a recomposed Thom model. After giving it the right relationships and decals, I came up to a rare fallout. One of the splines in the base model won't attach to eachother. Every time I save them and reload I get an error. The model apears in the model studio, but one spline falls to the buttom. I tried several times to save the model with "that spline" attached to the nose sector again, but for some reason it keeps slipping. When I tried to make a netrender job, the model slips again. The only way seems to be to correct the model again and render the avi in AM studio. 🤔 brainz06.mdl

Hi, Renderserver is crashing on my Mac every time I hit ‘File-New.’ I’ve tried everything I can think of - reinstalling, permissions. What could I be missing? I bought a perpetual license for A:M v18 for my old MacPro with 10 render nodes but I’ve never used Renderserver before. I’m wondering if I never actually activated the render nodes, even though I bought them on the same order as the license? I run Hash on El Capitan so this is pretty old stuff but I still see a lot of advantages in using Hash over Blender on my Silicon mac. Because El Capitan is so old and unsupported, I keep the MacPro offline. I’m considering buying a ‘trash can’ MacPr…

I understand V19 was the last one supported on the Mac Will my one license allow for using V19 on my Mac and any latest version on the PC I guess this question is linked to the first one above I have many more questions, but would appreciate any help to the queries above so I can make a decision soon Any help would be much much ap…

Some of you are wrestling with storyboarding your animation projects. Here are some real production storyboards from the Hanna Barbera series "Cow & Chicken." They look quite different from the storyboards that one might make to present an idea to non-film-makers, such as the clients of an ad agency who want a commercial to advertise their product. Here the artist has drawn just enough to identify the setting, the characters, the camera angle, the action. These are for creatives to talk to creatives. But LOTs of drawings. Each one might account for only a small slice of screen time. The whole 150 drawings might cover three minutes? While each dra…

I've been reading and watching videos for exporting animation from AM to other software I work with MDDs out of preference and also requirements for my small studio We're a Lightwave studio, and the current version is pretty adept at importing FBX from various sources Having read and watched export solutions from @Fuchurand others, I would like to get a bird's eye view clarity on the following questions: 1. Is MDD broken in the current versions of AM? I've seen other users having garbled meshes upon MDD imports into other software It seems like some models get exported with additional point information which is why the MDDs don't match to the mod…
