agep Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 Hi Guys I felt like taking a small brake from the Cathedral project, so last night I started on another project I've wanted to do for a long time. Thomas the Tank Engine Anyway, almost done with the model, just some minor details missing and some tweaking on his face left to do (to get rid of his "crazy" look). Let me know what you think so far. I might have bigger plans for this guy, not sure when I'm able to realize them though. I'll upload a better render of him tomorrow Best regards Stian *edit* image updated Quote
itsjustme Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 One evening...that's crazy. Great job, Stian! Quote
KenH Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 Ah, he would be perfect for controlling in HAMR. I can dream right. My nephew is mad about Thomas, so I'll be showing him this. Looks just like him. Nice job. Quote
Zaryin Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 Wow, that's looks great. Although the crazy look reminds me of the crazy monorail in Stephen King's Gunslinger series -- which I like . Quote
*A:M User* Shelton Posted July 23, 2009 *A:M User* Posted July 23, 2009 Very nice Stian. This is one that I would like to do as I feel in love with the Thomas world when my 6 year old son did. We had a wonderful time living on the island of Sodor. Steve Quote
agep Posted July 23, 2009 Author Posted July 23, 2009 Thank you for the comments. I've updated the image on the first post with a better render. Haven't done any tweaking yet, I'm at work right now One night????Technically, I spent two nights In the future, I want to make some of his friends as well, and perhaps some environment. Here is an wireframe if anyone is interested. 10073 patches, mostly due to the beveling Quote
Paul Forwood Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 Get the Fat Controller to sort out those hooks. He looks great, Stian! Quote
agep Posted July 23, 2009 Author Posted July 23, 2009 Thanks Paul. Yeah, I'll probably respline parts of his face. I rushed it together before I went to bed last night Quote
Tralfaz Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 WOW! That's just crazy! My son had all those characters when he was younger and would watch the show all the time. Ahem, being a dutiful dad, I would watch the shows with him. Personally, I liked Ringo narrating better then George Carlin. Al Quote
agep Posted July 24, 2009 Author Posted July 24, 2009 Thank you guys Here is an update. The face has been updated. Its no there yet, but it will have to do for now Quote
steve392 Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Hehe thats graet ,your work is allways so smooth Quote
mtpeak2 Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Looks good Stian. Is that a render artifact on his cheek or is that spot suppose to be there? Quote
agep Posted July 26, 2009 Author Posted July 26, 2009 Thanks:) Is that a render artifact on his cheek or is that spot suppose to be there? Its an artifact (hook) Quote
mtpeak2 Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Sometimes, if you flip the normals back and forth all around the hook area, it will fix itself, not all the time though. Quote
agep Posted July 26, 2009 Author Posted July 26, 2009 Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately it didn't work here. I also tried to detach and attach the hook several times Quote
agep Posted July 26, 2009 Author Posted July 26, 2009 btw, I'm doing an hires render (1920x1200) where the artifact does not show Quote
pixelplucker Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 Very nice work. I had some artifacts showing, sometimes long edges will do that but if softening pass is on they usually disapear. Also when making groups the faces seem to flip, kind of wish there was a unify normals command somewheres. Quote
