  1. Here is a new update. I'll keep with the simple AO render while I model. I've adde a few details to the hull, but more to come. I've also started modelling the superstructure. But at this point, with so few details, she looks a little retarded
  2. Looking good so far. Keep it up!
  3. Great model Dhar! Its fun to watch you do some modelling
  4. Oh! I like it. Nice "organic" feel over it. To bad you didn't make the contest, this would have been an nice entry
  5. Thanks The hull consists of an gradient material red->black->grey. AO with a sun is used. Thanks for the tip, I'll try it out. What RGB settings do you recommend on the blue and yellow? I guess it must be subtle? oh, and by the way, is it the Ambiance Intensity or the Ambiance Occlusion you you would like to se be set to 80? The renders above are 80, 100
  6. Hi all I've started up yet another ambitious modeling project. For those of you who remember the "KM Bismarck" project, I can say that this new project is in the same genre. This has been my 'lunch break project' at work this month For those of you who is not familiar with FS Clemenceau (R 98), aka Le Clem, its a French aircraft carrier of the French Navy, serving from 1961 to 1997. Don't ask me why I chose this one, I have no clear answer, other than it is a beauty At this point I've mainly carved out the hull and just started to add details. I got a long way to go before it is finished. I'll probably start making the superstructure within the next few weeks.. oh, and don't forget about the aircrafts:p I'm looking forward to make those Let me know what you think so far Best regards Stian
  7. Do you render multipass? if you do, you can easly estimate the time to finish by taking the time for the first pass and multiply with number of passes
  8. Thanks guys I've just uploaded the image to CGTalk in case anybody wants to support me with a comment: >>>CGTalk thread Best regards Stian
  9. Inspiring work! You have great modeling skills.
  10. Thanks guys I bought it in a hobby shop here in Trondheim (the city I live in, in Norway). I paid $550 for it, but I'll bet it costs half of that outside Norway Thanks:) You are wrong It's AO Thanks Marcos. Those word means a lot of me, since your models are inspiring to me:)
  11. Hi all I figured I should post my contest contribution on the forum. I bought this helicopter just a few months ago, and of course I had to model it:) I've always been an r/c guy but haven't used helicopters before (no I don't count those 30 bucks styrofoam toys we was playing with at the hash bash, lol). Helicopters are really hard to fly, but even more fun when you manage to control it a little Comments and crits are always welcome
  12. Great work! I would really like to see him run
  13. Thank you so much for the compliments. They mean a lot to me Since I didn't use any HDRI maps in this I settled with global color, so the setup is quite simple. However, the custom made environmentmap plays a big role in integration of the models into the video. The background video is actually filmed with my cellphone. Then I held my phonecamera while filming in 360 degrees trying to cover both the ground and sky. After that I took the 360 video, exported a few frames from every second using QT. I imported the exported frames into a small app called autostitch. The autostitch result was a ok latitude/longitude map of the whole environment. After some PS fixing I had a nice environmentmap. The whole sequence took 75hr to render on 3 computers
  14. If I should give you a tip, I would recommend you to buy a transformers toy to use as reference. Then dissect and inspect it
  15. Thanks guys I've just uploaded the movie to youtube:
  16. Thank you so much for all the kind words! I will The only "big" thing I'm working on right now is TWO, which I really enjoy The Tirpitz model is printed in the book "Tirpitz - Hitlers siste slagskip" (translated it means: "Tirpitz - Hitlers last battleship") Here is a link to the book. You can see a few sample-pages showing the 3D model: >>Tirpitz book review Thanks. As mention, the rig is really hard to animate with (and not to forget that my animation skills are very limited). I was planning to crush the windows, but I never found the time to figure out a way to do it. Lets just say they are laminated safety glass? lol The rig is just a simple joint to joint rig. But due to all the weird parts the car consists of, almost every bone got some kind of manipulator limits I used PFHoe2 which I bought a few months ago
  17. Hi all I've recently revisited the transformers model of mine, and at the same time been testing some motion tracking. It was a pain in the bu** to make that thing move, since the rig I made for him is really bad:p Let me know what you think Best regards Stian The animation: transformers.mov A single frame from the animation:
  18. You are doing a good job. The model looks smooth so far
  19. Thanks guys I use HDR images (IBL). I've just bought Dosch Design - Extreme Hires and Car Backgrounds I dont remember it exactly, but I think it took me about three weeks to make the model. The rendertime I think was a few hours
  20. Thank you guys. Yeah the plane could need some dirt yes Yeah, I forgot to mention that the image is completly historically incorrect:p I just used what I had of models
