I like the lines. To my eyes it makes him seem more solid. Does that makes sense? What's it fer? Doug

entity - I'm goin to school on your environment. Nice looking work, although I really wish he had some pants on. Doug

I'd like to watch but .ram format (real audio I presume) is a no go for me. Doug

Sharky - Nice job on the progress. Your building looks really well done. Something about the floor is a little strange. It makes me dizzy to look at. Hard work pays off. Keep going !! Doug

All right ! Glad to see you on it Rodney. Swell concept and model. Hope you can get more time on it. Doug

Still working on it though life has accelerated of late. Feel free to give suggestions. Thanks! Doug

Practice Chanter Needs a Bump(map)

Hi Paul - This is off topic but, how'd the whole financing thing you were working on go? Doug -
Hey that's very cool ! Nice job so far on this. A minor crit or two if I may - 1) I think that its obvious that its water that he lands in. But perhaps you could make it more transparent? 2) I would make a bigger and deeper pool. It seems that the pool is too shallow and that he is surely hitting his head on that bottom. Yowza! 3) Next add some sound. This piece deserves sound. Hope you keep going with this one. Good idea. Doug

Heya SpaceToast - First of all I really enjoyed your film. As a fan of your film 'Marboxian' I looked forward to seeing what you would do next and you certainly didn't disappoint. The look of the film is extremely well done. I know nothing of what you mean by crunching your color pallete but I think the use of color is great. Modeling and animation are spot on. I also appreciate the fact that you used voice talent. It really beefs up the level of quality in the film ! Good performances. *NOTE* Spoiler alert !! I do have one question regarding the story. When I watched it the first time I felt like it didn't end, as if it was an ending 'to be continued'. Then I watched it a week later (or so) and I felt that the ending was more of an ending, but that it was an ending that wasn't tidy. In that no one steps forward to volunteer and they would be stuck in their circumstance, much like in real life at times. Am I on the mark here? Anyhow, I feel you've made a sucessful film in that you've pleased the eye and have made something thought provoking. Congratulations !! Doug

Here's a place I visit daily for my breathing space. Sometimes i take way too much into my lungs. Many of you probably already know about this site but there is a ton of short films featured there plus if you join the community you can take part in a plethora of discussions regarding the process of film creation. Anyway here's the link ... AnimWatch Enjoy ! Doug

Newbie First Animating Attempt
modernhorse replied to flashawd's topic in Work In Progress / Sweatbox
hehehe My first attempts (and second and third) were nowhere near this well done. Nice job ! I agree with the cloth comments from Fuchur, might prove problematic for you, in beginning animations. But you'll never know that until you jump in there either. Best of luck with him and I hope you'll also post some animations. Doug -
Wonderful so far Parlo ! My favorite bit is when he says 'try your patience like this' - those are wonderful small gestures and work so well. On 'either I'm dead right' line ... I think the left hand movement isn't extreme enough on the word 'dead'. My two pence. I look forward to more. Doug

Nice posting on all these models STG ! Please also post wires. Also, any description of your modeling process would be cool. Is this all by eye or are your rotoscoping, etc? Doug
-
Outstanding work John ! I think he / it appears much more grounded in your new one. I'd love to see this sucker battling something. Even if it was Thom. Doug

Blast off will be a while yet as this is just a test for my first film. I'm working on storyboards now. Its gonna be a while. Next up is finish and/or start a couple of props. Finish storyboards, decide on music (i know what I want to use just unsure if i'll be able to), finish the facial rig on the character and .... probably 1000 other things. Thanks for all your nice comments. Doug

And here's a test render just to give you guys where I'm headed with this thing. I'm pretty sure this is the direction i'm heading. Doug
-
Sure Roger, put me down for one rivet. I'm actually curious just to look at yours to see why mine didn't work out. Thanks for the looks guys. More to come. Doug
-
An update. I ditched fins in favor of legs. Still need to work on rivets - my attempts at modeling them were unsucessful. Doug

Did you say this week? As in you modeled this in a week? Very nice work as usual xtaz ! Doug
-
Ken - I think he looks great. Perhaps his eyes are too white? I would expect this nasty lookin' guy to have bloodshot, slightly yellowish eyes. Then again, maybe he's a 'clean' troll. Nice job ! Doug
-
Very funny and well done animation. More ! Doug
-
Fantastic work. Very nice character and I love the render quality. My fingers are crossed that you get to animate him. Doug

Robert ! Welcome back to the forums. I've missed you and I've missed your progress on this short. I'm so glad to see that you've stuck with it this far and I really like the simple designs esp. on the worm. Cool ! I think you're persistence is gonna come in handy now that you're nearing production eh? Now I wonder what you'll do with those 20 other fishes? Maybe model a net and throw 'em all in there. Keep us posted on the short. Doug
