  1. Thanks Zaryin, You're right the stems do need to be lengthened. They're sposed to be sitting on the rim of the vase though. Doug
  2. Tried with radiosity, mostly stock settings. Attached for your pleasure. Robcat - I'm afraid I don't quite understand. Pose isn't dramatic enough? Right now I'm sort of stuck between flower and human, is that what you're getting at? I'll play some more with the pose. Thanks for the input. Doug
  3. Thanks again guys! Here's an update. I'll post wires later. I want to make the lighting more dramatic. I'll be working on that next. Cheers! Doug
  4. Here's an update. All texturing is temporary. Comments welcome as always. Is pose stronger now? Doug
  5. Xtaz, How does a guy get a friend like you?! Very nice stuff.
  6. John, For little pre-planning I would say that is pretty darn slick! The character design is unique and funny. I think you should clean it up (as you see fit cuz i'm not much of a critic on animation) and submit it for the A:M I Short contest. Good job and hope to see more of it. Doug
  7. Thanks for looking guys. Will work on the pose and post an update with an environment soon. Grubber - hilarious avatar! Doug
  8. Hello - This is a little project for my wife whose favorite flower is mildly hinted at by the attached. I started with this by going for a more realistic flower scene but couldn't help myself (after watching Fantasia again) by trying something less literal. I'm posting for your impressions in particular for the pose. How does it read? Thanks. Doug
  9. Nice work so far Steve. My first thought was that Eddie must be crazy to take his hands off the handle bars to wave on that terrain! My next thought is to make him pop off his seat a bit on some of the more large bounces. Keep going. Doug
  10. Yes Mike more please. I like the purple skin though, there must be a story there. Perhaps a lab experiment gone freakishly awry? No, too typical. Maybe he worked for a grape juice manufacturer when suddenly ... splonk! he mysteriously landed in a vat of hot steaming pasteurized juice (was he pushed?!) and he became ..... da da dum !!!!! ...... (insert hero name here Mike). Sorry. Doug
  11. I really like your second render. Very stylish and cool. It reminds me of the set on Willy Wonka (when the little boy is being shrunk). I think that it will serve its purpose to draw the viewer's attention to what's on the screens but that is too bad cuz this set is so cool ! Doug
  12. Hey Johnl3d - Nice ! Did you do that for me? If so, that's super of you. If not, thanks for posting the project. I've tried to get the look I want by setting up a second emitter under my landing vehicle. The emitter is pointing straight up. I then keyed the smoke to go from 85% to 100% transparent by the end of the clip. So far, so good. I'll post when I get it the way I want. Thanks again. Doug
  13. Bute ! Nice style goin here. I like the story. Doug
  14. Sharky - Hey great job. I think you have achieved a mood(y) piece of animation here, and from your title I presume that is what you were going for. The title sequence, though looking good, took too long for me. I didn't see the need to spend as much time on that. I too will weigh in on the length feeling a tad too long, particularly when you return to the same view a couple of times. Perhaps returning to that scene but from a different camera angle (maybe from the top ?) might break up monotony a bit. The lighting is good but I felt it was a bit dark. Again, this is subjective so if you're pleased with it then ignore me. Congrats on getting this far. I think with some minor rework it could be even stronger. Doug
  15. Dearmad - Each time you post a progress report I end up spending some time at your site (this time I finally got to your sketches, great!). I too admire your perserverance and dedication to your film. I wish to encourage you to keep going as much as visiting your site has encouraged me. Doug
  16. Love that character pose ! Looks like you're on your way to a nice buddy film. Great progress ! Keep going. Doug
  17. Great model and pose! Show us more. Will you be using the new hair with him? Doug
  18. T'is Friday, the day for updates. Attached is a test of the rocket landing. Actually this will precede the landing and will eventually be the first shot. Minor texturing changes on the rocket, and some changes to the sky, but other than that - one shot complete ! Check it out. Seq1Sc1a Test 11/12/04
  19. Great start ! I really like this. Keep going. Doug
  20. My two cents - The feet seem to almost hit toe first before the heel. This makes his walk look tentative and unnatural. Looking forward to updates. Doug
  21. William - great changes. Supah smooth doggie. And its nice to see the Geez in that environment. I was wondering if the two projects were related in some way. Doug
  22. Jess, Went to your site. The music section has alot of work there! Where can we hear it? The project looks swell. Keep on! Doug
  23. Right ! Thanks for the thoughts ya'll. I'll work on just that and posts results as I get them. I was thinking of using fog in the landing phase to add 'particulate'. Maybe I can keyframe the fog somehow. That would be neat to have it dissolve as the craft has landed. Great help guys. Thanks. Doug
  24. Thanks fellas for the support! Mike, I think you're right and you confirmed what I was thinking. I think I'll keep the smoke. Though I am gonna still play with the settings. I think i'd better bow out of that discussion. Unless you wish to talk Monty Python? hehe Cya, Doug
  25. Hello followers (are you there) I've completed the storyboards and have begun actual production(Friday 10/22/04). Thus revealing that I had forgotten something that should have been done in pre-production. The start of the short has a rocket landing. Attached is my experiment with creating smoke for the landing. Then last nite I thought to myself, would a landing vehicle actually have smoke? Hmm. Opinions on that? If I do decide to have smoke in the landing, does anyone have any recommended settings? Better than what I've come up with as per the attached that is. Oh and I realize that the fog is a bit heavy. Rocket Landing (test) Thanks for any thoughts. Doug
