Paul, I think the sorcerer looks swell so far. Hope you can get back to him. But man oh man, those sketches for ZMan are fantastic ! The one where he is sitting down - the expression on his face, is so good. Reminds me of a Truman Capote type. This must be done !!! Or have you already? Doug

Love it. Good to see the geez again. And I'm really diggin that dog. Something about him doesn't look chihauha to me, maybe the head is too small in proportion to the body? Great looking models William! Doug
-
Xor - I'd like to do the same thing and have longingly looked at Colin Freemans site where he modeled his son several times. Nonetheless, really cool monkey ! Doug

Well if you haven't seen it I'd recommend getting the DVD. Its cheap and supports indie ani filmmakers. Loads of fun ! Doug

Pia - Nice camera work. That little move adds alot. Re: Finger movement - This is a minor thing but I'm wanting him to do a couple or few finger taps. When I'm tapping my finger I usually do it more than once. Perhaps you're trying to make him coy while he does that in which case I'm thinking that he should sort of drag his finger. I know it's a little thing but IMO it may add a little. Good stuff ! Doug

Pia - It's great to watch you progress through this exercise. It is looking really good. I really like how he taps his finger at the end. Now on to the ears! Doug

Well as a novice (how long can I call myself that?) I'm more interested in gaining knowledge in the short term that I can take with me in the long term. I have embarked on my own short film and several other projects that to be honest I would put on hold for a period of time in an apprenticeship. I think the experience of having the guided mentorship would serve me quite well over the course of my animation path wherever that may take me. Other users may also put aside their projects in favor of what really would be a tremendous opportunity. I am wholly in support of this idea and hope that I'll be picked up by one of the mentors. Right on brother! You're right that will add a lot. Thanks. Doug

Nice job ! Doug

Well it was sposed to be him shaking his head. That movement actually read better front on but the side view I agree is a tad confusing. Didn't work like I had expected it. Thanks for the suggestions Robcat. I'm on it. Doug

Okay thanks to Dagoos (yippeee!) for hosting the file I've uploaded it to here ... Sad Mr Ball (side) I hope I haven't caused too much anticipation cuz its really not that good. Just looking for direction and feedback. Thanks ya'll. Doug btw - I also uploaded the original front view in case anyone wished to view that one.

Thanks Robcat. I rendered another view but can't upload it for some stupid reason. Geocities problem. Does anyone know of free hosting that is better than Geocities? Doug

Hello to all - I have been working on my first short short film for a couple months now and finally decided to consolidate my posting regarding it in this thread. Operation:Sphinx is code for my yet unnamed toon. It follows the story of a creature as it lands on a planet unknown to it, and we witness a surprising discovery. As of today, the shot sequence is done and I am currently working on props and finishing the storyboards. And of course, i'm doing a slew of animation tests with the main character. I'm new to all aspects of filmmaking so this project is going to take me a while. I'll be halting production for tutorials and other collaborations as they happen. I tend to learn better by jumping in and that's why I've started this project. note - in case you are interested in the earlier stuff you can go to this thread. OP:Sphinx - The early days. Thanks, Doug

Wow nice ! Very different idea. I also wish for a little more color. I'd love to seem him/her move. Doug

Great great work. So much detail in your animation. In particular the feet impressed me. Forgive me, I haven't read the whole thread but, will the entire short be toon rendered? Doug
-
arghhh ! Try again later perhaps? It's working for me. Thanks for trying. Doug
-
Nothing earth shattering here - I've been working on basic animation. I'd appreciate any comments. *note - fixed url - Sad Mr Ball Doug

So will your characters be toon rendered as your concept implies? I'm curious to see examples of the hair system with toon rendering. I like the concepts josema. Best with the project. Doug

Nice looking model so far. He looks a bit chunky on the bottom in particular from the back view, to my eyes. Lengthening the legs a tad might help that. Doug

Love it ! Very stylish. Doug

Fantasy Scene - "Faith Of Evil"

Heya Robert - I think I prefer the landscape of the first but the mood of the second. I hope that makes sense. Actually I like both of them but the fog/dust really works well. Doug -
My work in upcoming History Channel program
modernhorse replied to AProd's topic in Work In Progress / Sweatbox
Hello AProd - I got to see some of it. I thought it was on at nine and missed about half of it. Anyway, nice job on the maps. I also like how you used "still" photos but animated within them, this was a nice effect. Congrats on a quality production. Doug -
Hey Nerazzi - Awesome look you're getting here. There's alot of personality in your chars and I'm diggin the environment. I'm trying for that desolate look and the same sort of minimal-detail-without- looking-empty-look that you're achieving but i'm not there yet. I'll be watching your progress for the inspiration and tips. Keep on! Doug
