I think i'm gonna model the rivets. As far as the texture go ... i'm really unsure how I'm going to approach this. Never really done any texturing, besides experiments (and not too sucessfully). Perhaps I'll do some texture painting on this one. I guess I should check out Will Sutton's tute on the uv editor eh? Doug

I think she looks great. She has a toughness to her, like Liza Minelli that's been through too many men. Will you use porcelain on her to soften her a bit? How much of the song will she be singing? Best of luck with it. Doug

Nice detail work ! Arrghhh bring on the textures !! Doug

Yes, Frank fins, fins are in. I want all sorts of those rivety looking things down the sides. Actually, not rivety looking but rivets. Here's an update. Thanks for peeking. Doug *note - the pic attachment keeps disappearing, dunno why, but I just added it again.

Hey nice job. Very funny and well animated. I particularly liked the stretching to get out and also when it shakes its hand once it popped out. Very nice stuff. Doug

Holy Crap William !!! Great work ! Doug

So I've looked at Javier's post re: Plasma Rocket and thought ... heck, i've got twenty minutes, i'm gonna start my own. Well, I spent 45 and so far here is what I have. Any comments are appreciated. I've got many details in mind (yes, now its pretty plain vanilla) but I'm open to any thoughts. btw - i'm goin for that sort of retro, dorky look. Cheers! Doug

Hey all - Here's an update. I'll be focusing more on this fella as I've decided that my other short idea was way over my head for the time being (dialog heavy plot). Anyhow, this was modeled in A:M, exported to another program and rendered there. The remaining elements of the short will def be modeled in A:M, and I'm still unsure about the workflow for the rest. Any comments would be appreciated. Doug

Terrific ! I love this look. The tree on the right looks as though it could pounce. Can it move? Is this part of Puerto Rican lore? Great job on this. Doug
-
Nice update Ross. Did you start with a primitive and modify or spline to spline? Doug
-
Hey Ross, Thanks for posting the additional renders. I must say I dig the black pupils. Good luck with the rigging. Oh it hurts !! Doug

The tilted fedora reminds me of the way Gene Kelly would wear his hats. Therefore I see this thingy dancing. Or is that just me? Doug

So very impressive. So light on the splineage and very well put together. I wait for your facial animations. Doug

Jeepers Frank ! That's great. But the really great part is ... did you whip this up for rbovmonte? If this is the case then I want my Robin done !!! Just kidding but man you're a generous fella ! Cheers! Doug

Frank - Wonderful .prf and thanks. I'm studying this and the whole thread for my Robin model. Best of luck with your crow Sacman. Doug

I've moved along to modeling the sole secondary character of the short. Attached is a WIP. Its loosely based on an American Robin. Doug

Okay, now onto the work. I like the set. Though I think the lighting could use a bit of improvement. For instance, I can't see the clergyman very well. Also, I think Dewey looks at the camera too long. I think having him stare ahead is a good idea but not right into the camera (in my opinion). Perhaps if there were some nervous eye movements? I think its well done. Doug

Hello - I'm unsure whether i should start a new thread or not as I'm now fully decided to move ahead with this and its no longer a 'trial balloon'. Anyway, follow the link for my first animation test with Suzie. I'm still working on creating a Hop Cycle for her and am working through David Roger's tutorial for the flour sack in his book. Comments muchly appreciated. Dinner Party pre-production log Cheers, Doug
