  1. I've updated the worm a bit. Feel free to check it out and comment away. Scroll down to bottom of page. Ciao! Doug
  2. My only *problem* with this piece is the content of the room as well. It jumped out at me as slightly odd. The curtains, rug and bedspread look more girly or adult. The toys and sneakers look like a boy's. Then on the door it looks a like a poster that might be in a girls room. But all that being said ... it is quite stunning and beautiful.
  3. I like the proportions of the body. Except when I look at him he appears to have low hanging lady breasts. Perhaps raise them up a bit, I think it might make him appear more masculine. Keep on, love the progress.
  4. Whoah ! Yellow teeth !! Love it. Ship looks cool so far. Sorry for the fanboy post. Sometimes I just can't help myself. Doug
  5. If I may be so bold ... I think specularity is a tad high, particularly on the nose area. It might be interesting to try some yellow on those horrible teeth! I know it might not fit the dream but yellow teeth always scare me. Speaking of which, its time for another treatment on mine. Doug
  6. I really like this black Spider Man. I think you should develop this as an alternative to the more popular color scheme. My 2 cents. Great model. Go man go!
  7. Thanks for peeking at it DarkLimit. I'm pretty pleased with it as is, but I agree it is a bit flat here and there. I wanted to add larger cheeks but didn't build in enough splineage to do so. I'm rethinking adding more detail as opposed to finishing this scene. Thank you. Doug
  8. Yet another update of the worm. I'm nearing completion with him - hopefully. Thanks especially to J.Talbot for his advice and guidance on this character. click and scroll to bottom of page Any looks and banter appreciated. Doug
  9. eraserX, Glad you may have all the problems all sorted out. Looks great. One thing, and it could be the lighting, but the shins look a bit sharp to me. Will he be clothed or nekked?
  10. DearMad - Thanks for clueing us in! And keep on it. I love that sketch of Ravel. The project looks great and I can't wait to see it evolve. More renders please. I just watched FireFlies ... very moody and nice. Love the music ... sounds french? Nice job. I love the simplicity of the the models, it works very well. Congrats. You've done some inspiring work there. Doug
  11. Thanks for the explanation John.
  12. Thanks Mike. My thought on the eyebrows is to have those floaty ones above the mesh. Not part of the worm mesh. That's how I sketched it anyways. Yes, you're right. But for this fella that's the way they're gonna be. This really is my 2nd character in A:M and I'm trying not to bite off more than I can chew at this point. I've already learned more with this fella than i can document. Nothin' like jumpin' in there. I have noted your reasoning for making the lids parts of the mesh though, and you make good sense. Thank you. Doug
  13. Chris - Will Sutton posted a bird with feathers recently and it looks outstanding, so I think the answer to your question is a resounding yes. Maybe Will can post the pic as an answer in this post as I can't remember where I saw it. *edit* I found that post on CGTalk. Scroll down to Will's post re: Feather Test. Will Sutton's Birdie
  14. Chris - Great design drawings. As for your questions ... Start modeling! Sorry that wasn't helpful. No really, do you have a story in mind for this fella? How about some planned animations? Flush these things out and that will help you decide how to model it. Will he speak or squawwk ? The answer will decide how you model that beak. Will it fly ? That will help you decide how to model the wings. Will it pick things up? That will also help your decision process. Hope that helps. You're off to a great start with your concepts drawings. Doug
  15. Hi all. Updated worm. Here he / it is. Doug click here ....
  16. Jim - I'm on pc, win98, Qtime version 6.3 and i can view it with no problem. I appreciate your time on this. I have already learned something new. Doug
  17. Hey John - Could you explain a bit more about biased normals? How do you control and/or set ? Thanks and sorry for the hijack eraserX. Doug
  18. eraserX - Looking really good. Could be the angle of the render but his neck looks a tad short. Here is a great site for human modeling. Specifically this page for the mouth ... Colin's Loft Keep On!! Doug
  19. carterhawk001 - I really have no clue why. Maybe its a Yahoo thing. I can never post Yahoo images over at CGTalk. Wish I knew why. Zaryin - Yeah eyelids are in order.
  20. Whoah that's wild! I love the gills (?) on the neck. I think the front on shot is plenty imtimidating, but maybe the eyes will help make it even more so. Slanted pupils perchance, like a cat's? I cannot wait to see how you texture this thing. Nice job on the arms and fins too.
  21. Stephen - I really like the head. Its very different and has personality. In looking at the wire (of the head) it looks a bit heavy on the splines. I often have the same problem myself. You might be able to lose some of those and still have the detail you want. Doug
  22. I like the suit the way it fits. It reminds me of when I used to shop at the Salvation Army ... the coat would fit great and the pants would either be way too long and baggy or major highwaters and skin tight. I bought them anyway. It gives this guy the air of ... yeah I'm cool, when he really isn't. Doug
  23. Update - Added worm ... just a start. More of a concept model from my concept drawing. Comments appreciated as always. Doug click here ...
  24. Hey Jim - Thanks for checking it out. As for texturing ... I'm thinking some color gradations (would this be a gradient texture I presume?) of greens and yellows. I'd like to add a bit more bumpiness to the door. But yes, simple is the goal here. I'm trying to get this done for my daughter for Christmas but I think i'm running out of time. Maybe for her birthday. Doug
