  1. Hey all, Making some headway. Still not done but getting there. Attached is my progress. Now to figure out how to match up my bump map with the color decal. I also found out that Project Dogwaffle has Alpha channel support. I just need to figure out how to use the program now. Thanks for all of your support fellas. Doug
  2. Will - Thanks very much for the explanation. I'll put it to use and be back with an update. Doug
  3. Okay I'm back with more questions. I've been trial and error-ing for a bit and I'm quite baffled by this whole Alpha channel thing. Partially I'm sure because I don't have a full version of Photoshop, i'm using Photoshop Elements. This doesn't have an channel pallette. There is very sketchy info with the online documentation on it as well. One sentence to be exact. Anyhow my question from reading the above posts from Gerry,Bruce and Josh are as follows: 1) When you create an image and save it as a 32bit file is this "automatically" an alpha channel image? 2) Once I have created this 32bit file, when I bring it into A:M, should I be leaving it as a "color" decal or as a "transparency" decal? 3) If I just want to create a decal that has eyes and a mouth and I want to apply this to a non-transparent model (still unsure about whether I will go the transparent route), should the image I create in my paint prog have a black background and white eyes and mouth ? And then this decal should be a color or transparency decal? What I end up with now is the eyes and mouth come through okay but the rest of the decal overrides the color of the model's surface. I'm missing something here. As you can see I've been playing quite a bit with this and so far am not getting very far. Sorry if I'm seeming a bit thick here but I think I'm missing some vital info. Thanks again. *edit* I just read a post by Vern in which he says that Photoshop Elements has no alpha channels which would explain why I can't find any docu on it. Guess I'm SOL. Doug
  4. Thanks for the replies fellows. I'll try and post my results here later. Doug
  5. Hi Bruce - Thanks for the reply. Uh no, don't know anything about that. How does one do that?
  6. Hi all - Here is a noob decaling question. The attached model has transparency of 40%. I have applied a decal which clearly is darker than the rest of the model(look at the top of the model - here is more transparent than the face which is the decal). I have matched the colors in my paint program to the model's RGB values. I presume because the model is semi-transparent this accounts for the color differences. Am I correct? How do I get around this? Thanks for any thoughts. Doug
  7. Again looking swell David. One thing - Just before the hand slap, when he puts his glasses back on and he sorta waves to her, it looks almost as if he's waving at the camera instead of her. Maybe rotate his head more towards her there. I don't think he looks too floaty. Doug
  8. Very nice Serg - always good to see your work. Please post the clip too. Doug
  9. I'm with ya brother - no quick fixes. Don't forget to check out the Rigging and Relationship forum led by 3DARTZ. Good stuff there (it's under the Features part of this forum). Doug
  10. Oh yes, that is very clear now. Great update. Now - we need a reaction on her face when he pulls at her chest before the implant. Sort of a look of pain or a whince. Also a slight reaction in her body would further improve it. Doug
  11. Stupid me, I read the posts while downloading the clip, but it was pretty readable to me. But another angle might help get the point across better. Very nice, snappy animation on the doctor. I like how you make these objects (exam table, implants) just appear. Very ACME. His face after applying the implants is perfect. He looks like he likes them and he also looks a bit loony. Looking forward to more. Doug
  12. Stunning work Frank! Is this your own design ? Doug
  13. Hey I really like this ...err... fella? It's got a nice organic/mechanical feel to it. Just a thought, perhaps add a touch of detail to the thingies that hold up the eyes. This could be done with texturing or modeling I believe. Just to add more interest and to break up the chrome-iness a tad. Very nice concept. Doug
  14. Jiminy Cricket !! Wow I was going to ask "what are you doing with the software now" and then Rodney gave us this link. Fantastic artist you are AntonyW, please show us more of your work !! Doug
  15. To my eyes this render is still too dark. I can't see the detail that I'm sure you've put into this model. Doug
  16. Not to derail this thread but ... I was really enjoying the discussion between Dimos and Raf. Are you guys gonna continue the conversation elsewhere? Cya, Doug
  17. I'll third that. Bunny looks good so far. As Vern said it would be nice to place him/her in a scene later, but we're getting ahead of you now aren't we? Doug
  18. Pengy - I have no suggestion for you but will say that each pic you post looks better than the one before it. The ear pieces seem sort of dark and lack specularity as in your reference. Keep on! Doug
  19. OH BABY !!! That looks fantastic now. Much more atmospheric too. Doug
  20. Yupper, I think so ... ugh, now I'll have to go and check. Doug
  21. John - Wonderful job. I like the new ending with the close up of the star. The only thing that I might change is to frame her reaction to the grey painting more. With the angle as it is I didn't pick up that she was looking at the grey painting very well. You now have one camera angle to handle both paintings. Perhaps a shot of her from behind looking at the grey one? Maybe it's just me. I really appreciate the design of this one. Very unique. Doug
  22. Mike - Hey thanks for talking through this with me. This statement of yours put me on the right track - I went into the Setup relationship of the rig and compared the Left foot with the Right foot and lo and behold the two were way off. I edited the properties there, saved as a new model and I'm all set. What a relief. Cheers for the help! Doug
  23. Hi Mike and thanks for replying - I've attached another screen shot. I've looked in the relationships folder to see if anything looks different from Left foot to Right and I can't see anything. Is this where I should be looking to diagnose? And further, since the relationships were created with the rig, can I just copy them from the 2001 Skeleton without overrighting the entire rig? Or must I start over? I'm sort of flying blind as I don't really know what I'm looking for. Thanks again. Doug
