KenH Posted June 11, 2006 Posted June 11, 2006 Here's my first paying work with AM. It's a melbourne tram I made for an Australian company called Steamfish. Quote
steve392 Posted June 11, 2006 Posted June 11, 2006 Strange name but a lovely looking model ,well done Ken Quote
agep Posted June 11, 2006 Posted June 11, 2006 Great looking model Ken And congrats on getting a paid gig. Any chance we can see some wires? Regards Stian Quote
KenH Posted June 11, 2006 Author Posted June 11, 2006 Sure Stian. Here's all seventeen and a half thousand patches of it! Quote
Chrury Sanson Posted June 11, 2006 Posted June 11, 2006 Strange. for a wire-frame, don't you usually see through the object? Or did you just make one side? Good job. They sure knew who to hire. Quote
KenH Posted June 11, 2006 Author Posted June 11, 2006 Cheers Chrury. It's actually a shaded wireframe. I just coloured the whole model white and so the windows don't have transparency. Quote
Zaryin Posted June 11, 2006 Posted June 11, 2006 Excellent, Ken! Is that one model or seperate? Quote
KenH Posted June 11, 2006 Author Posted June 11, 2006 Thanks Jeff....how do you mean? It's all in the one model window, but there are some pieces that aren't connected to the main body such as doors and lights. Quote
Paul Forwood Posted June 11, 2006 Posted June 11, 2006 Really nice model, Ken! I'm looking for those 17 and a half thousand patches. Are they in the chassis and wheels or have you got seats in there too? Quote
R Reynolds Posted June 11, 2006 Posted June 11, 2006 First rate! Any chance of seeing a street level shot showing the bogies (trucks in N. America)? What did you do for prototype drawings/pictures? Quote
KenH Posted June 12, 2006 Author Posted June 12, 2006 Yes, the wheels are pretty hefty. Deleting them brings it down to 12000. Still alot though so, I can only assume it's made up of the sheer number of components. There's quite a few small components. I'm not sure what you mean by a street level shot Rodger or bogies. I used plans supplied by Steamfish as a roto. They also provided the textures. Quote
Admin Rodney Posted June 12, 2006 Admin Posted June 12, 2006 Beautiful model Ken. ...and big congrats on your first paying gig! May it be the first of many many more. Quote
R Reynolds Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 I'm not sure what you mean by a street level shot Rodger or bogies. I'm curious to see a shot similar to the attachment so I can inspect the wheels. Quote
Dhar Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 Uh oh..Ken's busted. The wheel inspector showed up Great model BTW Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted June 12, 2006 Hash Fellow Posted June 12, 2006 Fabulous model! I can just about see Eddie Valiant hitching a ride on the back. And congratulations on getting paid. You're a modeling star, Ken! Quote
KenH Posted June 12, 2006 Author Posted June 12, 2006 Thanks guys. I should say that the under carriage relies heavily on a model gernerously donated by Rodger on the cd. Thanks for the models and your permission Rodger! Quote
oakchas Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 Ken, Stupendous! Very Very nice! Congrats on a paying gig, too! How did they find you? Quote
KenH Posted June 14, 2006 Author Posted June 14, 2006 Thanks Charlie. They asked right here on the forum. I believe others got some work too. Quote
trajcedrv Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 Congrats Ken! Great looking model, you are now official A:M proffessonal! Quote
steamfish Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 Hi - I havent visited since I posted for tram modellers here. I came by to sing Ken and Mike Fitzgeralds praises and found this post - which seemed the best spot to do it. These guys did an astounding job within some tight parametres, easy understanding and communication made the whole process very smooth despite the distance and short overlap of waking hours. If anyone has the need for freelance modelers I can't recommend either of them enough. Glad to have been your first paying gig Ken - brilliant work I'll try to find the time to post some images from the final piece soon. Cheers Matt Quote
shaunf Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 Hey Ken, Being a born and bred melbournite... thats a nice job you've done there!!! Quote

Eric2575 Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 Great job, Ken! Then render looks very nice too. Did you use a light rig or AO? How long did you work on that model? Eric Quote
KenH Posted July 25, 2006 Author Posted July 25, 2006 Thanks Eric. No ao, just three lights strategically placed. From what I remember I spent about a week on and off working on it. Probably about 20 hours in total. Quote
Gerry Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Beautiful work Ken! I hope this is the start of something big for you. Quote
