luckbat Posted May 30, 2005 Posted May 30, 2005 Interesting. Those black lines around the chest emblem and cape--are they decals, or splines rendered as lines? They can't be regular toon lines... can they? (And what does the 'W' stand for?) Quote
Admin Rodney Posted May 30, 2005 Admin Posted May 30, 2005 Very nice. The world needs more toon heroes! Quote
pixelmech Posted May 30, 2005 Posted May 30, 2005 Cool! I like the "chunky" style, Mike - Are we gonna see some legs and some movement? Quote

The world does need more toon heroes! Pixelmech, thanks for the repy. Once I get some legs on em, I'll be COG'n him up but good! Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com Quote

Paul Forwood Posted May 31, 2005 Posted May 31, 2005 I recognise this guy's style from your entry in the 'Heroes' contest. It has a really strong graphic feel to it, so clean and well difined. Great use of colour. Quote

littleandy Posted May 31, 2005 Posted May 31, 2005 Wow, he looks like a gorilla! I like the unique style. You've kind of found a halfway point between normal rendering and cartoon rendering, it looks like. It's cool! I like it. -Andrew Quote
John Bigboote Posted May 31, 2005 Posted May 31, 2005 Looking good Fitz! Hey- a trick I do to 'beef-up' the outline of the character if you have After Effects... Render your guy with an alpha, Open him in AE, use filter/matte choker to suppress the matte a pixel or two giving your guy a nice, bold outerline. Helps to define him and make him 'pop' off the page... Keep up the good work. Quote
Mr. Jaqe Posted May 31, 2005 Posted May 31, 2005 YES! HE HAS LEGS! HE CAN LIVE! HE CA... *cough* yeah... Ahem, so when will this guy take his first steps/first flight? Will he be able to fly at all? (well, duh, he got a cape, silly.) Oh! And what other amazing superpowers will he have? Quote

(Dumb question I know) Hey Greg, well thanks for the Layup! Cogs are a fan bone design that help create smooth bending joints... I made a setup that uses them in every joint for.... smooth bending limbs! for more info - http://www.3dartz.com Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com Quote
tanassi Posted June 1, 2005 Posted June 1, 2005 Hi Mike, very cool character! i'm interested in how do you rig it. and the quality of the render too. bye... Vince Quote
sfgirgis Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 Im not much for rigging, to be honest i dont like it at all. but Mike has a great tutorial on his site, that i got from him and i must say, he makes rigging easy. he uses cogs and it elimanates smartskinning (which is a pain)! thats the only rig system i use now.
