KenH Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 I'm working on a new model and for the life of me, I can't get the darktree eye material working properly in v11.1f. As you can see, he's got no specularity highlights on his eyes even though they're on in the material. Is it something to do with the light? Is anyone else having trouble with this material? Quote
steve392 Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 Sorry Ken no answers but I love the carector, reminds me of mr magoo a bit Quote
KenH Posted April 24, 2005 Author Posted April 24, 2005 Thanks guys. This character is going to have the works.....hair and cloth. His face mesh is abit more detailed than I normally do. He's going to be my everest Now I just have to get his eyes shiny..... Quote
KenH Posted April 25, 2005 Author Posted April 25, 2005 Here's Melvin being measured up for his new suit! Quote
pixelmech Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 Ok, that's darn right freaky! Looks good Ken! Quote
Xtaz Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 Hi Ken .... very nice model !!!!!!! he is so soft .... did you use porcelain ?? i cant wait to see his facial animation ... Quote
KenH Posted April 25, 2005 Author Posted April 25, 2005 Thanks...yeah I used porcelain, but I think it's probably the lighting adding to the effect too. No materials/decals yet. Quote
Zaryin Posted April 26, 2005 Posted April 26, 2005 Porcelain Rulez! . I love this model. Great job so far. Quote
KenH Posted April 27, 2005 Author Posted April 27, 2005 A few updates. He's got a few of his accessories. His name's Melvin and he's a wanna be pimp. Quote
NancyGormezano Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 and he's a wanna be pimp. Then his undies need to be purple silk. He's looking really good, great character - but whats that thing by his belly button? Quote

He's looking really good, great character - but whats that thing by his belly button? Right! His shirts going to be that colour too now. That's a button....beside his belly button. Quote
KenH Posted April 27, 2005 Author Posted April 27, 2005 And another. He's ready for decaling and clothing. Plus he's going to have long dyed black hair under the hat. Quote
NancyGormezano Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 hee hee... what Fun fun fun - looking mo' better, mo' funky - love the earring - excellent touch. Perhaps he & one of Mr. BigBootes' Babes can have a rendevous ? - or perhaps a umm...working relationship? Quote
heyvern Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 Oh God! That... that is like that reoccurring nightmare I keep having ... Usually.. I am naked... with the shoes... and a hat... Vernon "!" Zehr Quote
agep Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 HAHA, kind of reminds me of Hugh Hefner... (!!!).. Quote
Xtaz Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 Hi hashers ..... he acted in The Birdcage.... I remember to have seen him. Im sure ...... Quote
KenH Posted April 27, 2005 Author Posted April 27, 2005 Perhaps he & one of Mr. BigBootes' Babes can have a rendevous ? - or perhaps a umm...working relationship? Haha...I was thinking that. I can see him surrounded by "AM bunnys" Quote
Kamikaze Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 Ken...Figure on the prob with SPec yet? have you tried saving the model then rendering? saving the project and model them reload AM? Some times I have to do this to get "some" materials to show up. Graet Character also Ken. Michael Quote
KenH Posted April 27, 2005 Author Posted April 27, 2005 It's still a problem after several days.....so reloading didn't do it. I've sent in a report, so hopefully something will come of that. Thanks! Quote
KenH Posted April 28, 2005 Author Posted April 28, 2005 Heh. The mapping process always makes me smile. Quote
Paul Forwood Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 Ahhh! It's Sponge Bob Squarepant's cousin! I'm enjoying watching your pimp take shape, Ken. Quote
Epoch Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 That last image is scarey but the rest is very nice You did an excellent job on him, very smooth and nice quality You should do a second version when through with this one of a nice afro on the top, kinked hair - I think that would be funny with the purple suit and pimp style Look forward to end result Quote
KenH Posted April 29, 2005 Author Posted April 29, 2005 Thanks. The white area is where he'll be decalled. Quote
Mr. Jaqe Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 Cool, considered adding chesthair for extra pimp factor? Quote
KenH Posted April 29, 2005 Author Posted April 29, 2005 You got it in one. And of course the obligatory medallion. Quote
seven Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 Just waiting for some lipsynced sound from this fellow. Not wanting to meet him in reality - perhaps in virtuality. Sure very good modeling! but the hat does not fit... and I believe a little much lip-stick... Waiting for his replies... what is going to say? Quote
entity Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 LOVE this characture! NOW that is FUNNY! Looks like he works in a circus or on a broadway show. Unique. Looks like he will be fun to animate, too. Quote
KenH Posted May 3, 2005 Author Posted May 3, 2005 Yes he's got too much lipstick on. That's how I wanted it. Also, the hat will be filled out with hair which will be in the next image. Quote
KenH Posted May 4, 2005 Author Posted May 4, 2005 Both working with and rendering hair in the latest version is much improved! Here he's got his usual head of hair but I have a "hair flattened" pose for when he has his hat on. Quote
seven Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 Are you using some photo? then modeling... Or there have you got this impression from? just curious! Quote
bentothemax Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 yes, I've kind have been wondering that myself Ben Quote
entity Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 Here he's got his usual head of hair but I have a "hair flattened" pose for when he has his hat on. That is a great IDEA!! I never thought of that!!! I guess if you wanted, you could have a change of hairstyle by adjusting a slider... KOOL! Quote
KenH Posted May 5, 2005 Author Posted May 5, 2005 I must confess I used this image of Al Pacino to guide me in modeling his face. But no photos....I'm just adding details/character as I go along. Quote

Having a look at your model and the image in the same time... I must say you have done a good job... What I react to on your model - comparing - the two - is the ears on your model - I believe they are too big - drawing too much attention.... What do you say? Quote
KenH Posted May 5, 2005 Author Posted May 5, 2005 His ears are in proportion to his head. Also, the angle you're looking at makes them look "more prominent". Quote
seven Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 Proportions - what are you talking about??? This is a caricature - not some realism... The thing is you do not want the public to stare on his ears - or do you? Quote
KenH Posted May 5, 2005 Author Posted May 5, 2005 Then it wouldn't look right and they'd stare more. Quote
NancyGormezano Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 I just love this character sooo much. Just makes me laugh everytime I see it. Quote
entity Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 Lots of potential in the animation realm with this guy. Ken are you planning anything special with this guy? (Like is he going to really have a HO-house with Mr. Bigboote's girls in there?) There are all kinds of Jokes implied in just his face alone... not to mention his stylistic clothing--- Where's the fur coat? Quote
KenH Posted May 5, 2005 Author Posted May 5, 2005 Nothing real special. I just want to add cloth to him now and then I'll do a few moves with him. I'll probably just donate him to the community then. Quote
entity Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 You are a community oriented guy aren't you? "Posts: 4,323". Can't wait to see him in or on cloth... Quote
