  1. One of Stian's wackier experiments!
  2. I'm *pretty* sure I already said this like a year ago, but okay, Happy Birthday Robert!
  3. Actually that goes for real *anything* and movie *anything*!
  4. Simon, that latest test is getting pretty nice! However, clouds, especially dark rain clouds, are completely opaque. The transparency is a little confusing and looks like a mistake, or, dare I say it, an unfinished experiment! I would even say that you could put some cloud-like shading on the decal to give the clouds a little more definition. Clouds are almost always bulbous or rounded in appearance.
  5. Hey Mark, this is looking great! You should put a link to your Kickstarter in your sig.
  6. And you can make a girl cactus just by putting one cactus flower at a saucy angle near the top!
  7. Finally watched this, although I think I've seen parts of it before. Pretty amazing! It's worth doing a YouTube search on compositing demo reels. There's a ton of amazing examples of this kind of work, although replicating all of midtown Manhattan down to the sidewalk signs is in a class by itself I would think!
  8. Welcome sahold and Visping! Stick around, this forum is one of the premiere features of A:M!
  9. videos uploaded here go through some kind of conversion to a Flash player. Don't know what, but I started asking about this over a year ago. doesn't matter what you upload, the default player for this forum software is some version of Flash. If you try to view any videos on an iPad you just see a "broken" icon of some kind that I don't recognize. Oh, and super model, Rodger!!
  10. I might try something for this. So the consensus is, audio optional, and any sound clip, correct?
  11. Hi Robin, welcome to the forums! Coming here is definitely a good first move. Can you tell us what version you're using? That might be a good first step in figuring out the prob. Also be aware that there are a *few* small issues with AM on the Mac. I use AM on a pc at my day job and a Mac at home so am familiar with most of these issues, but others here can tell you a lot as well.
  12. thanks for your work, Jason! I need to download this one.
  13. I did have an experiece with toon rendering, where if you have any transparent decals it creates a lot of artifacts and unwanted toon lines. FWIW.
  14. No, apparently all videos uploaded here are converted to a flash format. I get an odd icon like a triangle in a circle with the line through it.
  15. I finally got to see this, nice work Stian! I often check the forum on my iPad, but I can't play any of the videos! Finally remembered to check it out on a "real" computer! Also, nice test on the Minute Maid commercial, Matt!
  16. I need a model of the Earth, or if not, the best way to decal an earth map onto a sphere. Anyone?
  17. Congratulations on getting that solved. I'm pretty sure I had a similar problem a few years ago but I couldn't quite remember how it was resolved. Good luck with your project!
  18. Funny how the solutions occur to us right *after* posting a query! happens to me all the time!
  19. Definitely the trick with disp maps is to keep the gradient area as smooth and gradual as possible.
  20. Great tests Mike! You know you can also animate the strength of the displacement map with a smartskin, which raises a whole separate set of possibilities.
