  1. After a quick test... yes, you can incorporate bias adjustments, including direction and magnitude, in a SmartSkin keyframe.
  2. Quicktime, good. The node-based thing is a real turn-off, though.
  3. Does it do QuickTime?
  4. During Live Answer Time today, >Renumber CPs came up. We found it does change some CP numbers, but for what purpose? Who asked for it and can you explain its intention some?
  5. The pad would be where the fingerprint is. Put your hand flat on your desk and you'll see that the pad is facing more down than it is facing sideways.
  6. What is the sampling rate Hz of the original audio file? Welcome to A:M, crittifer!
  7. It seems insignificant until we start trying to pose hands to do normal hand stuff and we can't figure out why they never look right.
  8. I would do it even more. However, another critical element is the angle of the pad of the thumb. Take a look at your hand and notice that the pad of the thumb will face more down than sideways in that position.
  9. My suggestion on the thumb would be to model it angled down from the plane of the palm rather than level with it. An on-the-plane thumb is hard to make opposable for typical thumb purposes and It will be easier to weight the mesh for all the positions the thumb will need to move through.
  10. I think the most significant change since around v15 is for tool Options. For example, if you hold down CTRL while you press the Lathe Button, A:M will open the Options Tab where you can set the number of Lathe sections. All tools that have options work that way. Previously I think it was the ALT Shift key for that function.
  11. Just to be sure, did you make a bug report for this issue? I can't find it in the Mantis? By the way, any qualified guess on a release date for vers. 19? It is officially issue #6683 which probably will not be visible unless you are one of the excessively-privileged v19 alpha testers, like me. It is "assigned", meaning that Steffen recognizes it and has committed to fixing it. I don't know when v19 will go into public beta, no ETA has been announced, but in the mean-time you can be working on your v19 Mascot Contest entry.
  12. Rodney's mention of the Font Wizard brings to mind something I've wanted. The AI wizard is like the Font wizard... it imports a vector outline and can extrude it and put faces on each end. However, it can only import the proprietary .ai format and there are no good low-cost programs that can create and export an .ai file. How about adding an open-source vector format like SVG to the file formats that the AI wizard can accept?
  13. He's looking fierce! A bit greenish. Is he a zombie pirate?
  14. Looks like latency is still a problem. The "high-five" was more like a "high-zero" This will be a boon for the executive, incarcerated or otherwise pre-occupied. Now he can spend time with his kids without having to leave to go visit them. And now we can visit Grandma without having to smell her house!
  15. After you apply the decal to the patches, Go Objects> your model name> Decals>your image name>Images>your image name and set "Type" to "Bump" Is that what you are wondering?
  16. On the CP biases, I find that it takes about 6 or 7 undos to revert a bias change rather than just one, but it will eventually get it done. It could be that A:M stores a bias change with several steps internally. You may wish to up the default undo limit of 20 to something higher if you do a lot of this. On decal CPs, it does seem to be true that undo doesn't restore the CPs back into the decal, however... After you restore the CPs to the mesh, in the PWS on the "stamp" for the decal and choose "recall view/position". This will place the decal live in your model window and you can on it and Choose "Apply" to restamp it on the original set of patches. Then delete the previous stamp for that decal.
  17. I found it! "Euclidian distance" gets switched from ON to OFF at 2:00. That is causing the slight change in how the combiner renders. Euclidian distance controls how the colors form paths around the spots. One is more squarish than the other.
  18. I suppose the next step would be to continue the animation a bit longer and see if it stays that way or goes back.
  19. I'll add that while the $299 version doesn't expire, you stop getting updates when Hash moves on to the next numbered version. I recommend the annual $79 subscription. And if there's some concept you'd like explained, I do Live Answer Time on Saturdays.

    Logo

Welcome back! That's a sharp lookin' logo!
  21. "Country Ride Two" needs some front and back drifting of the motorcycle so it doesn't look so rigid. "Country Ride 03" would gain depth if the camera were "trucking" horizontally slightly as the motor cycle approached. I think that's what Rodney was getting at.
  22. As far as the CD versions of A:M the one problem I'm aware of is that the copy protection can no longer run under Windows 10, rather than 32-bit issues. Once the above-mentioned registry maneuver is done the (32-bit) CD versions seem to run appropriately in my 64- bit Windows 7. For now, I'd say our A:M programmer is fully tasked in maintaining three current versions (MacOS + 32 and 63 64 bit Windows). V14 is so antique in the code that it has that maintaining it would probably be a huge extra effort with little return. The two-week free trial is Hash's nod toward the doubtful buyers.
  23. In conventional topologies, it will be necessary to apportion the set of patches among more than one group. It should be possible to only need two groups in most circumstances. For example: After those groups are made it may be possible to use expressions in one group to make it follow the color settings of the other, but manually keyframing two groups rather than one shouldn't be too onerous.
  24. This article suggests that it is possible to run an older version of Windows under a virtual machine in Windows 10. I have not tried this. Another possibility is to set up your computer to dual boot and have an older Win, like WinXP as one of the options.
  25. We recently discovered and solved this problem for Windows versions earlier than 10. Read this thread for info. Short Summary: Microsoft has disabled the system file needed for the CD copy protection to run However, that fix doesn't include Windows 10 apparently. I haven't actually tried it on a Windows 10 computer. A:M installs the file needed... you can try the registry mod mentioned in the Microsoft Bulletin linked to in that thread and see if that makes it work, but i don't know if it can.
