After doing the command in the correct dir I get this StartService FAILED 1058: The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it. So I'm guessing A:M has some similar, but not the same, software that has been disabled. -

I'm sure I was able to run those old versions on Win 7 because I installed them a long time ago, when I first set up 7, and I would have at least run them after the install. But now, they're stuck. Something has changed. I have some other programs that run but are buggy under Win 7. -
Long time forum member and A:M user Mark Largent (Largento) is prominently interviewed about his A:M production "Stalled Trek: Amutt Time" for "Fan Film Friday" on the Axanar Productions blog. Give it a read! Interview Part 1 Interview Part 2 (includes discussion of A:M!)

I should amend my comments... The manipulator limits restrict what YOU can do when rotating a bone manually. However I don't think they will limit what the bone can do under the influence of something like an AimAt constraint or an Orient Like constraint. To limit a bone's motion in those situations you'll want to use a Spherical Limit constraint or possibly an Euler constraint. Spherical would be my choice.

From the Windows mouth... Troubleshoot problems with removing updates I suppose the way to do it would be to remove half of them, see if the problem is fixed. If not, remove the other half. Then continue to narrow it down by halves and halves and halves. But there's a lot of megabytes involved. -

I recall it is possible to uninstall Windows updates. Some ambitious person might try that and see what happens. -
The rotate manipulator limits in the bone's props (in a Pose) are good for limiting rotation to a particular axis. The Euler limits are for if you need to limit the rotation to something less than an axis' full 360° freedom.

This appears that you are still viewing in "Choreography" mode which will only show the model bone. Choose Skeletal mode to see bone you added to the model.

I think the "stuff" was to fix that dll problem. -
That's a good effect. I'd suggest angling the mirror a bit in the second shot so the rectangle shape of it is more obvious.

I wonder if some Windows update has messed things up because I do recall having run at least some of these on this computer in the past. I'm stumped. Anyone else have ideas? -

I'm not having much luck with any of 11, 12 or 13 In the Properties>Compatibility tab you can set them to "Run as Adminstrator" and that gets past the first error, the CD spins up as if it is being checked but nothing seems to get started after that. -

Hi Ken, Welcome back to A:M! I just tried running v11 on my 64-bit Win 7 and get the same administrator message. Not sure about that one yet. For v13... download and run "v13 stuff" from the FTP site . See if that changes anything and report back. -
My first guess is that you have inadvertently keyframed one pose slider while editing another. When you are editing a Pose, the Pose Window shows you all the Pose sliders available in your model. The one highlighted in Red is the slider for the Pose you are editing, the others should not be touched unless you really do want motion on the red Pose slider to orchestrate motion on other sliders. In your case I don't think you want that. read about Live Answer Time If Skype works adequately with the broadband you have, you might give it a try.

I'll also note that I do Live Answer Time on Saturdays, if you have questions that don't lend themselves to being typed out.

There is a way to prevent the second model from overwriting the poses of the first model. After you drop in the first instance of the model, rename the poses in the new model. You can rename them by going to the Model's Properties>User Properties, then on a Pose name to Rename it. Appending an "A" at the end is sufficient. Then drop in the second model. Put this new model in a chor to see that all the Poses are preserved. One time saver... in a situation, as around 1:40 in your video, where you have dropped two models (with bones) into another model window and you wish to move one so that they do not overlap: go to bones mode select the bone of the mesh you wish to move press N for TraNslate mode hold down the CTRL key while you drag the translate manipulator the bone and mesh will move together, retaining their exact position to each other. The CTRL modifier also works for Scale and Rotate modes.

Hi Simon... Here are some ideas on making the pieces fit... clip3914SimonCarComposite.mov

In A:M it is not possible to change a model in it's model window by a pose. The pose is something that must be used on the model while it is in a Chor (or an Action). If the Pose could change the original model mesh as it exists in a Model window (note that the Pose window is not the Model window) there would be some infinite circular explosion of weirdness because the pose is defined as offsets from the original mesh. Does that clear anything up? This is the way to go if you are trying to combine models and keep poses intact. So, tell me more about the problems.
