Hi! I'm trying to avoid posting stupid questions, but I have an inquiry about netrender. I use OS X and just got netrender running. I followed the tutorial http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?act=a...st&id=61145 which is very informative about adding additional cores from the 2 core default, etc. Applets, all that... very informative. My question is: WHERE is there a document that just states in plain English how to make external machines into nodes and how to have them interact with the main computer? I just bought additional nodes and there is NO satisfactory information on what to do with the master0.lic file that I just purchased. PLEASE tell me that it'…

It's all 'math' to me... My question as it relates to 3D modeling is: How does this contribute to continuity of adacent (relatively) planar surfaces? There is another element of this video suggests 0-0=0. But is this more 'pulling rabbit from hat'* in considering that an x - y = z where none of the variables are (invariably) equal? How equal are they and when are they equal? *To use a phrase from the video. This underlying schemes concerns polygons. Useful for math but historically an obstacle for splines and patches. Terms to consider regarding continuity: Triagons, non intersecting diagonals …

Is there a particular version that is better suited for one or two screens. I currently have one screen and I may be looking to adjust with a laptop and a tv screen. Will that effect how the picture transfers.

I made a model with lots of loosing ends coming out of it. My goal is to use it several times with use of dynamic constraints. So I added all loose ends with several dynamic constraints with different weights and saved the file. After using this file in an action with succesful weighted effect I saved it under a new action name. When trying to use the start action with the saved file all my dynamic constraints are gone. Is this a common fact, or isn't it possible to reuse a file that has the dynamic constraints already confirmed?

Hello- I saw a product at Comic Con last year and it was intriguing. This new app allows animators to tell stories that are sort of hybrids between animated storyboards and full animation. They also pay for content on a sliding basis. https://www.storiaverse.com/for-animators For any storytellers on the Forum, check them out.. Tom

Here is a posing tip I had not encountered before. It may work better for puppets who can never shift eye direction, but it is important that your character appear to have purpose in where he looks.

I’m doing an animation for our local community theater. While Sir Nigel is narrating, Granny here will be slowly (like Tim Conway vs Harvey Corman) crossing the street with her walker and will enter the theater and go to the dressing room. (When she comes out she will be Lambrina. I had to “Build” Granny and rigged her with the 2008 light rig. The Lock IK is ‘on’ on both hand and forearm bones (and attached to parent). Both hands are “Translate to” constrained to the ‘Walker” bone, but when I move the walker bone, the hands move with the walker but pull away from the forearms. I have probably gone wrong in several different directions, but I’m clueless …

Robert, Roger and I were discussing various topics and some of Walter Lantz's drawing and animation resources were shared and discussed. Here's one that we didn't discuss on creating characters that includes a storyboarding session. Several currrent day legends in the animation business such as Eric Goldberg claim that watching Walter Lantz's shows delving into the process of animation were early inspirations to them. What got me thinking in the direction of Walter Lantz was his book 'The Easy Way to Draw' which I had never heard of but have recently added to my library.

At Live Answer Time today we watched the very first animation treatment of "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" Produced and directed by Max Fleischer as "A Jam Handy Picture" in 1948. Of the four credited animators ... Howard Kakudo ... animator Robinson McKee ... animator Fletcher Smith ... animator William Sturm ... animator ... only Sturm has a substantial IMDb trail, having been a former Fleischer Studio animator. The original Rudolph story was written by Robert May for an ad camp…

I'm making a fireworks mode. I'm not planning on animating it at first, although it would be very cool to do so. There used to be a "Wizard" that pot a 'particle on a CP along a path, but i don't remember exactly what it was called, and I can/t seem to find it now. EDIT: EXTRUDE is the wizard, but it's not working the way it used to. It just occurred to me that an exploding fireworks model may already exist somewhere. Thanks in advance

Hi, I’d like to open a discussion on creating springs in Animation:Master. Rob created a great tutorial demonstrating the bone-to-spring system, which is an older method in Animation:Master. My question is whether it would be possible to use Bullet to create springs, as they could be considered soft bodies in Animation:Master. Thanks,

I'm researching software for the initial workup of a game app proposal and have been asked to investigate software to build the proposed application. At this time the project is pre-pitch/prefunding with much of the material confidential so I can't go into detail on specifics of the game itself but the following is basic criteria: The team is affiliated with an Educational Institution and likely eligible for education/student licensing. The team consists of approx 14 people most of which are technical experts in the games subject matter (not gaming, graphics or software development). -- Depending on funding/green light to go ahead the team may involve students an…

So as you probably have noticed, I don't just love Animation: Master, but I’m also very interested in its’ development history and I just wanted to know what .prj scene files were included at the time on the CDs of the software. Were some of them scenes from the showcase gallery here? https://forums.hash.com/gallery/album/1-showcase/ If yes, then which of them were in these two versions? Also for the scenes that are not included in the gallery, could you show me some wireframe screenshots and final renders of what they looked like (including information about which were included on which CD)? I’m talking about .prj files which are not included in the Extras CD…

I have made a model, a recomposed Thom model. After giving it the right relationships and decals, I came up to a rare fallout. One of the splines in the base model won't attach to eachother. Every time I save them and reload I get an error. The model apears in the model studio, but one spline falls to the buttom. I tried several times to save the model with "that spline" attached to the nose sector again, but for some reason it keeps slipping. When I tried to make a netrender job, the model slips again. The only way seems to be to correct the model again and render the avi in AM studio. 🤔 brainz06.mdl

The Oldest Hash AM training material on the early web sites of 1999 when I started using version 10.5 were excellent for beginner self education in modeling animation rigging and virtually the best introduction of Computer Graphics and Animation movie making. Can any one direct us to the links of those old web sites. I do have some old copies of some of those web pages in HTML format, but due to Author copyright constraints am unable to offer them even freely to Hash AM enthusiasts!. Please help as that material was easy to understand and experiment with even on Windows_XP. They opened up the extensive versatility of Hash AM to me. I use Hash AM even to this day to d…

Some of you are wrestling with storyboarding your animation projects. Here are some real production storyboards from the Hanna Barbera series "Cow & Chicken." They look quite different from the storyboards that one might make to present an idea to non-film-makers, such as the clients of an ad agency who want a commercial to advertise their product. Here the artist has drawn just enough to identify the setting, the characters, the camera angle, the action. These are for creatives to talk to creatives. But LOTs of drawings. Each one might account for only a small slice of screen time. The whole 150 drawings might cover three minutes? While each dra…

Robcat suggested that I post these on the Forum. This conglomoration of musicians and I have been peforming at a local Wine tasting lounge every Wednesday for two years. This is a test animation. The Sax player has quit coming so I made a new "photo". Our motto is "Don't get your knickers in a twist, have a glass of wine!" More animation to come.

Not related to A:M. Recently I am using "ImageToAvi 1.0.0.5" to convert 1920x1080 jpg's to avi. This was going fine, although the program seems limited to 720x480. Now I am on the fifth file of jpg's and the program starts quartering out all avi's. So I tried other formats, but only 640x480 suceeds. A bit confused tried other programs, like VideoPath. This makes go all frames on 5sec. I thought of using A:M to import the jpgs again, but that's not the same.| Are there other methodes to convert jpg to avi?

When I click on the link on the hash.com site for the FTP server, ftp://ftp.hash.com/pub, nothing comes up. It appears the ftp server is up and running; I can connect via the command-line. The problem appears to be that the ftp server requires a login and when logging in as "guest," it requires a password. I tried "password" as the password and neither that nor a blank password succeeds at logging in, which is what I think the browser does. I also tried the Edge browser (which I never use) and it didn't work either. -Vance
