GENERAL FORUM GUIDELINES
The A:M Forum is for technical support and the sharing of tips and ideas between users/prospective users of Hash software. It is moderated constantly by technical support representatives.
DO'S!
-Ask questions about the software.
-Assist other users... everyone was new at this once.
-Inform people of your version/platform when asking for help.
-Share resources; tutorials, models, textures, tips and techniques (link to useful websites).
-Post links to your work, or where your art is being used online (on websites, in games, toons', etc.)
-Search the A:M Forum and FAQ. The question you are about to ask may have already been answered.
-Organize and inform others about user groups, IRC chats, image and animation contests, job opportunities, etc.
-Discuss what you are working on and let everyone know about magazine reviews and articles that relate to your projects.

User Led Forum Considerations
Firstly and foremostly, please remember this is Martin Hash's forum and that it is every A:M User's primary resource for information about A:M. In order to remain relevant we need everyone's continuing support and interest.
Secondly, understand there is a distinction between A:M (the program) and the A:M forum. There are some topics and issues that are outside the scope of this forum and most can be deduced by reading through the forum guidelines. These include such things as Hash Inc internal policies, business practices, trade secrets, and specific plans for the future not yet publicly released. Each of these would be fascinating topics of their own but are better reserved for private communications with a representative of Hash Inc.
Related to the second, is purchasing, customer service and other areas outside the purview of the common user who may have no interest in such things; subjects relating to money exchanging hands are beyond the scope of the A:M Forum and often can lead to conflicts of interest between users and/or Hash Inc. (If Hash Inc cuts you a deal on volume purchasing it's really no one else's business). Likewise, individual complaints about a product or service are best remedied by going direct with Hash Inc representatives empowered to make decisions. Please allow them them the time necessary to resolve your specific issue and consider the cost of customized solutions.
This last area is likely the source of much confusion because many see the A:M Forum as the official outlet for Hash Inc... and it is. But the forum is not designed for conducting business and private matters best resolved by going to Hash Inc directly. Similarly, bug reports are best resolved by entering them directly into the A:M Reporting system.
Many problems can be easily addressed at the user level just by asking fellow users in the forum. If someone at Hash Inc suggests the forum as a source, it is very likely a problem can be easily resolved. For tougher issues there is even more reason to take the issue directly to the source... you don't want the issue discussed... you want it resolved quickly.
Finally, remember that we want to pass this forum on to future moderators and generations of A:M Users in the absolute best condition possible. A:M is just that good a program and is worthy of our consideration.

Here's something I haven't seen before. In "improving" the patches on my model, I naturally want to attach ends of one spline to another to make one continuous spline. But when I do this, the splines connect but the result is not continuous. That is if I hightlight one side of the CP I get one bias handle and if I highlight on the other side I get a completely different bias handle. The "," key verifies that the spline isn't connected properly. This seems to be common all over the model, but if I create a pair of splines out in space and connect the ends, it works just as it should. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Alan

hi, i made a character and i m animation it. how will i isolate all the bone and constrain the character to 2 diffrent null bones . 1 bone for verticle rotation asnd the other 1 for horizontal rotation. help needed. thanks.

I am exporting a character with Animation to Quest with the Osidian-Export. Now I got the problem, that the character is always coming in mirrored (that means what was on the right will be one the left. To solve this, I would go the easy road and do all the animations visversa. But now I made a mistake and animated not mirrored. So is there a plugin or a function which can bring all the animation in the action from one side to the other and visversa? *Fuchur*

ok im not sure if the topic that was posted meens the same as this one but how do i make something on the model light up. like say i had a gountlet, and i wanted "power" comeing out of a spacific point in it. the power i want is a red light. so how would i make the red light look as if it was comeing out ofthe arm pice?? I am currently working on an animation project and have run into some serious time issues while working with AM. Long time user, since the days of Playmation and Ive never had these issues before (Took a LONG break w/ AM). Here are my issues: Bias adjustments, If my model has bias set, if I move, rotate or copy any model, the bias adjustments get lost causing TONS of wasted time in re-adjusting. Is there any way to lock down the bias before a copy/paste so I do not need to rebuild everything? Hey, I havnt been able to be using AM for a long time because of homework problems, and ive been trying to get it back up. anyways, Im needing a bit of help. I read that if I output the AVA format model, it would maintian UV co-ordinates and be modified in Zbrush. However, I have not been able to find a way to translate the .AVA format to .OBJ What do you think is the problem and has this issue been resolved on another link. Thanks, Michaelangelo

Having an issue - I am working on a project and my model when I try to view as shaded the message pops up "Exception #033 Realtime Render" - it also said when I opened the model "CP listed twice" - I think that was the wordingin - I guess somehow there is a CP w/ the same name or something? Has anyone ever run into this issue? How do I get the section in the properties that show's all the CP's - maybe I can find it in there and delete it - if that is the issue. Any help or suggestions would be great.

Hi, The manual seems to indicate that is possible to import an animated gif file and use it as a decal. Whenever I try to import such a gif file, either through "Import Image/Animation" or "Import Image/Sequence", and click the "Import as a sequence of images", I'm told that it is an "Invalid gif file." What I am trying to do is to import a 4-frame animated gif and apply it as a decal to a model (in this case, a playing card) and when rendered, have the animated gif play as the card moves. Is this possible? thanks...

Hi I have a project file with several models in it. Something went wrong with one of the models in it and now every time I try to open the file I get a "error #004. loading" message followed by "exception #001" message and then A:M shuts down. I have no backup of the file (hopefully this is the last time I will make that mistake) from before the preblem started. I am not happy at the prospect of losing everything in this project file as it is for an animated children's story that is already running behind (yikes!!). I hope I don't have to start again!! Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

Hey everyone, I've been doing a lot of playing around with decals but theres one reoccurring problem. I can't seem to apply a transparent decal (lets say I have a circle decal I want to apply to grid. I want the decaled circle to be white and the diffuse color of the grid to be green. I want the circle to be applied as a decal but still have the green on the grid evident.) I'm using photo shop elements so this question isn't completely related to A:M. Thanks for the help, Masna

Hi - I created a hair system for a model. I want the hair to a shade of grey and brown so I created a new attribute (cell turb) as part of this hair system and made it grey and brown. When I apply the hair system material to the model the hair is showing as white. Can anyone let me know what I am doing wrong? Thanks - Eric

Hello - I am taking a stab at photorealistic modeling of a person. My question is when it comes to the skin of the face and body what is the best thing to do? Let's say you don't have an actual pic good enough to use the actual photo as a decal. Would us use a material combining 2 "skin" colors - and then use seperate decals possibly for eyebrows? i just did a short animation that I need to send to a publisher so i can get a job.... the file is only a minute long and consists of one character and a table. the sound file didn't seem to render with the file. the size of the file is 46.1 mb Is that normal or did i do something wrong? and if it is normal, how am i going to e-mail it when noone will let me send a file that large?

Hi! I am trying to export Eddie with the *.x-export by Obsidian Games to Quest3d. So far so good... everything seems to work very well. So I tried to add a simple eye-lid (just half of a sphere which is bigger than the eye itself. I gave it a bone at the center of the eye and attached it to the head-bone (children of the headbone). Now I made an animation (action). It is looking good in Animation:Master. Then I exported it. That works well too, but somehow the animation on the eye-lid isnt in the right place. ok i did a tread post a while ago and got a few helpfull suggestions but unforunatly due to the complexity of the movie im making it was going to be litteraly hours of work ( think 30Plus models fighting over a landscape) so i was wondering wourl there be a way to set a part of a model ie the tracks/tire to change the color of the ground it moves through ?

Hi - I have a client that wants a steel looking ball smashing through glass - landing on the ground violently shaking and turning different colors while smoking and then blowing up into his logo.
