Yikes! Scary stuff, especially head injuries!

I was very impressed with The Netherlands. The country is made for bicycles. Bicycle lanes, separate bicycle paths (not just thin strips of asphalt) bicycle traffic lights, etc. It's safer for each individual, I think, though there are probably more bicycle-motorvehicle accidents just because there are so many more bicycles. If only North America could do a good imitation of what's done there.

Speedy recovery, Myron!

Yikes! We need to get Myron a high-viz jacket! I hope that you are okay now, Myron. Maybe inspiration for a new song?

A similar thing happened to me about ten years ago. A car turned into me, as I was riding across a junction, and slammed into the side of me at about 20mph. By some miracle the fender of the car and my peddle aligned perfectly and saved my ankle from being crushed. I was just thrown into the air, still on my bike, did a 90 degree turn and landed just a few feet in front of the car, facing directly into the driver's face, still sitting on my bike. The driver and I were both shaken and realising how close we had both come to a disaster, thanked our lucky stars, apologised to one another and went on our ways. I just pushed my bike around to a friend's house where I borrowed a hammer to take some of the ends out of my peddle and front wheel. It's great to be alive!

My nephew seems to chase that feeling with his regular mountain biking trips, knocking himself unconscious and picking up regular injuries as he attempts to fly his bike over some very dangerous terrain.

I hope that you are counting your blessings, Myron, and that you are back to full health soon. :)

Thank You All for your prayers and well wishes. I am home now and resting. The Lord had His hand on me. a few stitches, slight concussive damage that should pass in a few days. First time my hard head has paid off. I WILL be wearing a helmet in the future. The story sounds much more dramatic than it actually was, although it could have been much more serious than it was, as well. It is good to be home.

GAH! We are lucky... it would be hard to replace you around here! I would have to grow a beard and learn more chords! If your family does not chip in to buy you a helmet for Christmas... the Hash forum will! Be well, get rest, keep your acoustic nearby... and keep on a-splineing! You and Spleen ROCK!
