mtpeak2 Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 There's been alot of talk about hair, so I've been playing around with it lately. Here's some test renders. Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted June 27, 2010 Hash Fellow Posted June 27, 2010 ah... non-glowing hair! The left one would work well for animal fur. Is that one image mapped hair? Quote
mtpeak2 Posted June 27, 2010 Author Posted June 27, 2010 ah... non-glowing hair! The trick is dark specular color and adjusting the primary strength in the muhhair shader. Is that one image mapped hair? I'm not sure what you mean, but I used an image in the hair emitter. The left one would work well for animal fur. Hmm, I was hoping it looked more like human hair than animal fur. Both characters are using the same hair material, just with different settings. I'm guessing Lady Goodbody's hair needs more work. Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted June 27, 2010 Hash Fellow Posted June 27, 2010 I'm guessing Lady Goodbody's hair needs more work. It's a bit of a too-much-whisky-and-cigarettes look. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Quote
mtpeak2 Posted July 11, 2010 Author Posted July 11, 2010 Played more with A:M hair. Used the MatCap shader to shade the hair. I think this works pretty well. Quote
HomeSlice Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 She reminds me of a young, punked out Julia Roberts. Quote
mtpeak2 Posted July 11, 2010 Author Posted July 11, 2010 I think you're right Holmes. I went a bit MatCap crazy on this one. This is a model from the extra cd. I think this was one of Matt's models. I also posted a render of the original (yellow dress). Quote

Gerry Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 How did you do that blue dress? Is that a material? Quote
John Bigboote Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Devil with the Blue Dress-blue dress on... (Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels) I think MT mentioned he used MatCap shaders... do a search for matcap... coolest thing since they started putting the slices in the bread! Quote
mtpeak2 Posted July 14, 2010 Author Posted July 14, 2010 Yes, it's a MatCap shader. The image used is one of the example images included, in the zip file, with the plugin. Quote

Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted October 4, 2011 Hash Fellow Posted October 4, 2011 I didn't catch some of those later hairs, those are looking great, I bet a lot of people thought A:M hair couldn't do that. Quote
Admin Rodney Posted October 4, 2011 Admin Posted October 4, 2011 I don't know where I was when this topic was posted but it sure wasn't here. Wow! You've done some great work with hair Mark. I so need to use some of this. Used the MatCap shader to shade the hair. I bet a lot of people thought A:M hair couldn't do that. Count me as one of those people, I sure didn't know that MatCap shaders could be used with hair. Thanks for bumping this up Tom! Do you know the name of the model that you used from the Extra Disk? If my memory serves correctly Matt included it with the Mach V (Speed Racer) project so look for it in the project files on the Extra CD (not sure if it's on the Extra DVD but it should be). Quote
Admin Rodney Posted October 4, 2011 Admin Posted October 4, 2011 Look for the download link on the top right of the menu here: http://www.hash.com/amtutes/X_Vol001/Menu/html/Mach5.htm For those interested... with a little luck and a whole lot of work the next Extra DVD should have a menu similar to this. mtpeak2 Posted October 5, 2011 Author Posted October 5, 2011 I got better examples than these, to show what A:M hair can do. I just haven't posted them. Quote
