Xtaz Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 greetings!!! after a long period that I passed inactive in the forum, with pleasure I am returning... I passed 6 months learning php and mysql as well as, configuration of linux servers, and with that I had to move away of the 3d world for a period ... whats up docs ???? to verify how rusty I am, I made a small illumination test ..... Quote
NancyGormezano Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 Fascinating image. I wish I were as rusty as you. (Hmmmm.... thinks to self: Maybe I should go away for 6 months too?) Quote
PF_Mark Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 Really intriguing image (hope the spelling is correct ) Quote
agep Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 That is COOL! How many cubes is there in the image really? What is the setting (e.g chor arrangement)? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm must admit I'm very fascinated by this Image Quote
MiddleKid Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 Yeah, give us a bit more info, Xtaz. Patch counts, render times, number of passes, light rigs... etc. The DOF is pretty nice too. Quote
bentothemax Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 SWEEETT! That image is amazing if you ask me! Yet so simple.... Did you use radiosity? I don't think you did, but im not sure...? Ben Quote
Xtaz Posted October 22, 2005 Author Posted October 22, 2005 Hi Spliners : Thx all for your comments.. some references about the image : -1440 cubes (100cmx100cm) x 16 patches/cube = 23040 patches -cubes have not neither textures or color just reflection (reflectivity=30% , RF=100%, RB=90% ) -camera uses a basic setting DOF -NO radiosity -Render Time = 3h 12min (PIV 2.8, 512MbRam) -100 passes About the Light I am trying, more and more, to improve my technique using the skycast ( www.artboxanimation.com ) almost all my last images was created using it ( you can check them in my site, under my signature ). For this image I used 2 Twin Sphere Lights ( width = 20 cm , Fall of = 50000, intensity = 300% ) -One to simulates a clean ambience -and one to lend the red atmosphere Im rendering a green piramid version .... ill post it later Thx again friends !!!! Quote
trajcedrv Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 GREAT IMAGE!!! That's it... I said it all dvarceto Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted October 22, 2005 Hash Fellow Posted October 22, 2005 For this image I used 2 Twin Sphere Lights ( width = 20 cm , Fall of = 50000, intensity = 300% ) -One to simulates a clean ambience -and one to lend the red atmosphere What's the difference in the way the two are casting light that prevented you from just using one "reddish" light? Looks great! I hope you'll be able to do some lighting on "Tin Woodsman of Oz"! Quote
Xtaz Posted October 22, 2005 Author Posted October 22, 2005 hi robcat ... i tried use just one red "light", but the atmosphere become too red then i added more one blue "light" and i liked the effect !!! i rendered a new scene, now using piramids and one green "light" .... 17500 little piramids Quote
agep Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 Interesting Image, but I like it One more stupid question: How the HE.. do you place all your 17500 pyramids? (I feel that it's some basic A:M'ing I have missed... ) Quote
rossk Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 He forgot to mention that along with learning php and mysql for those 6 months that he was also hand-positioning 17,500 invdividual pyramids Those are some neat images though. I, like Nancy, would love to be that rusty. Quote
Xtaz Posted October 24, 2005 Author Posted October 24, 2005 Hi again !! he was also hand-positioning 17,500 invdividual pyramids smile.gif first i created a model whit 140 little pyramids : then I created a empty cho named medium and imported 5 models to construct a medium pyramid and i saved it : in a new empty cho I imported 5 medium cho´s to form a big pyramid I save this cho as big: finally I created a final cho ( with lights, cameras .... ) importing to it 5 "bigs" cho ..... ... and I rendered my new Wallpaper Quote
ypoissant Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 Cool image. Another variation of the Sierpinsky pyramid but your variation is more interesting because it better fills the space. Quote
bentothemax Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 -edit- nvm- I like that last image the best! It looks .... real There pretty cool Ben Quote
Stuart Rogers Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 ... and I rendered my new Wallpaper Ooh! I like that - the colour, lighting and shading remind me of M.C.Esher's work (but I don't think he used A:M!). Quote
micheldani Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 i'm trying to say something witty but nothing is coming out of my mouth... i had no idea that AM could give you such results!!!! i guess digging deep into the software does reap it's benefits!!! beautiful image man. beautiful! i'm now sure that my 300$ are worth a lot more than i bargained for!!!
