That is COOL! How many cubes is there in the image really? What is the setting (e.g chor arrangement)? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm must admit I'm very fascinated by this Image :)

Hi Spliners :

Thx all for your comments..

some references about the image :

-1440 cubes (100cmx100cm) x 16 patches/cube = 23040 patches

-cubes have not neither textures or color just reflection (reflectivity=30% , RF=100%, RB=90% )

-camera uses a basic setting DOF

-NO radiosity

-Render Time = 3h 12min (PIV 2.8, 512MbRam)

-100 passes

About the Light

I am trying, more and more, to improve my technique using the skycast ( www.artboxanimation.com )

almost all my last images was created using it ( you can check them in my site, under my signature ). For this image I used 2 Twin Sphere Lights ( width = 20 cm , Fall of = 50000, intensity = 300% )

-One to simulates a clean ambience

-and one to lend the red atmosphere

Im rendering a green piramid version .... ill post it later

Thx again friends !!!!

What's the difference in the way the two are casting light that prevented you from just using one "reddish" light?

Looks great! I hope you'll be able to do some lighting on "Tin Woodsman of Oz"!

hi robcat ... i tried use just one red "light", but the atmosphere become too red  then i added more one blue "light" and i liked the effect !!!

i rendered a new scene, now using piramids and one green "light" ....

Interesting Image, but I like it :)

One more stupid question: How the HE.. do you place all your 17500 pyramids? (I feel that it's some basic A:M'ing I have missed... :P )

Posted

He forgot to mention that along with learning php and mysql for those 6 months that he was also hand-positioning 17,500 invdividual pyramids :)

Those are some neat images though. I, like Nancy, would love to be that rusty.

Hi again !!

he was also hand-positioning 17,500 invdividual pyramids smile.gif

:lol::lol::lol:

first i created a model whit 140 little pyramids :

py1.jpg

then I created a empty cho named medium and imported 5 models to construct a medium pyramid and i saved it :

py2.jpg

in a new empty cho I imported 5 medium cho´s to form a big pyramid I save this cho as big:

py3.jpg

finally I created a final cho ( with lights, cameras .... ) importing to it 5 "bigs" cho .....

... and I rendered my new Wallpaper :P

Cool image. Another variation of the Sierpinsky pyramid but your variation is more interesting because it better fills the space.

Ooh! I like that - the colour, lighting and shading remind me of M.C.Esher's work (but I don't think he used A:M!).

i'm trying to say something witty but nothing is coming out of my mouth... i had no idea that AM could give you such results!!!!

ONE word about your pyramids... ANIMATE IT!

Perhaps a silver centipede or small moth fluttering through the reflective maze? Or water droplets falling and running down the sides?

I bow before your greatness.

ANIMATE IT!

Faking Florescent Light ....

2 lights to GI and 1 light to fake florescent

I didnt use any materials or texture ( just in dalmation ) to show how shadows would appear ...

8 min to render each frame using 100 passes ...
