If you watched Saturday Morning cartoons as i did you certainly saw Filmation's work, including Fat Albert, Archie and Star Trek. Filmation was one of about three significant producers of animation for Saturday morning TV in the US in the 60's, 70's and 80's but the only one that was able keep the production in-house and not outsource it. When v18 comes out give this a test again and if there's still a crash put in an AMReport. Direct3D is gone in v18.

In the 32-bit version of 17g you can switch between OpenGL and Direct3D on the Global tab.

And you've done all the driver updating and stuff... Is this a laptop? Intel graphics are the only choice? For now, you might try installing the 32-bit version and switching to Direct X instead of Open GL
