  1. And you've done all the driver updating and stuff... Is this a laptop? Intel graphics are the only choice? For now, you might try installing the 32-bit version and switching to Direct X instead of Open GL
  2. That looks cool. Lots of good-looking shots!
  3. One is intel graphics and the other isn't? Mine at least shows the same info at the top.
  4. Happy Birthday, Rich, hope things are looking up for you!
  5. I'm sure there will be much gnashing of teeth. But I was talking to Dhar a while back and he said he doesn't know anyone who is actually paying for Maya, between the "student" and "educator" and other promotional variations. Maybe some of that is going to be curtailed.
  6. Yes. It's in the secret laboratory stage right now. I've tried a version of it and sent Steffen some feedback towards making it more practical to work with. Stay tuned!
  7. On your previous version with the decal i think the shadow would work if you used a ray-traced light rather than the default z-buffered light.
  8. I didn't even know Macs had a safe mode.
  9. Mine says "Creating" rather than "Building". After it is "Property Bar" but I dont' know what to undo for that. Have you tried insalling and using v16? just reuse your master0.lic file from v17 to run v16
  10. That's an interesting see-through screen effect on that. How did you do that?
  11. I believe William Sutton has a tut somewhere on importing NURBS spline models
  12. All Quads... It's about time. I wonder who wants that besides A:M users?
  13. I get "An error occurred" but I shall look forward to seeing it when it is working.
  14. If you are an Adobe customer you may need to pay attention to this problem Adobe reports massive security breach
  15. I like the way the leaf that gets caught on the rock keeps fluttering.
  16. I'll put together a sample project for you, Steffen.
  17. Typically we've animated walking on the toes by using regular IK and raising the heel. There's a substantial part of a regular walk where a foot is contacting the ground thru the toe only, so that's sonmething animators learn to manage. But i've not tried toe IK
  18. I didn't know it was there but it sounds useful. Is there a "finger IK" also? Uses for this would be rare but I can imagine situations where the fingertips.toetips needed to be stuck somewhere and the hand/foot somewhat flexible above them. A hand moving that thing on a Ouija board... pressing piano keys... Rare but useful if you when you need it.
  19. So you really don't need to snap a bone to a CP. I never understood what that was going to get.
  20. When snap to surface works I can match the CPs pretty quickly. A Snap-to-CP tool would be ideal in this situation.
  21. Then i think we should report some Snap to surface issues. It ought to work fine in modeling mode in a Pose window. I find it works much of the time but not 100%
  22. I'm finding that if I try to adjust the position of a point that has been snapped it jumps to some place far off the surface and can't be snapped back again.
  23. A little bit more success here... Apparently the CP you are moving needs to be in front of the surface you are snapping to? However, only about 1 out of 3 CPs successfully snaps on the first try.
