GENERAL FORUM GUIDELINES
The A:M Forum is for technical support and the sharing of tips and ideas between users/prospective users of Hash software. It is moderated constantly by technical support representatives.
DO'S!

User Led Forum Considerations
Firstly and foremostly, please remember this is Martin Hash's forum and that it is every A:M User's primary resource for information about A:M. In order to remain relevant we need everyone's continuing support and interest.
Secondly, understand there is a distinction between A:M (the program) and the A:M forum. There are some topics and issues that are outside the scope of this forum and most can be deduced by reading through the forum guidelines. These include such things as Hash Inc internal policies, business practices, trade secrets, and specific plans for the future not yet publicly released. Each of these would be fascinating topics of their own but are better reserved for private communications with a representative of Hash Inc.
Related to the second, is purchasing, customer service and other areas outside the purview of the common user who may have no interest in such things; subjects relating to money exchanging hands are beyond the scope of the A:M Forum and often can lead to conflicts of interest between users and/or Hash Inc. (If Hash Inc cuts you a deal on volume purchasing it's really no one else's business). Likewise, individual complaints about a product or service are best remedied by going direct with Hash Inc representatives empowered to make decisions. Please allow them them the time necessary to resolve your specific issue and consider the cost of customized solutions.
This last area is likely the source of much confusion because many see the A:M Forum as the official outlet for Hash Inc... and it is. But the forum is not designed for conducting business and private matters best resolved by going to Hash Inc directly. Similarly, bug reports are best resolved by entering them directly into the A:M Reporting system.
Many problems can be easily addressed at the user level just by asking fellow users in the forum. If someone at Hash Inc suggests the forum as a source, it is very likely a problem can be easily resolved. For tougher issues there is even more reason to take the issue directly to the source... you don't want the issue discussed... you want it resolved quickly.
Finally, remember that we want to pass this forum on to future moderators and generations of A:M Users in the absolute best condition possible. A:M is just that good a program and is worthy of our consideration.

ok so i have a big problem. im making a face with using a guide, and im making the nostril. to the side of the nostril there is a area thats opened and isnt patched up. it is 5 points in the area, but i dont understand what the 5-point patch is and where it is. i used th patch group mode because i thought that was it, but i guess not.

ok im making a car of sorts and got the basic model riged but it has ocured to me that i dont know how to make the wheels turn execpt by frame by frame actualy rotating them , is there an easyer way to do this?

In an action window, when I use the copy keyframe and then paste a keyframe, the bones are copied onto the selected keyframe but the nulls are not. This also applies for the paste mirrored option. Does anyone know if i'm doing something wrong? Thanks for your time. Sincerely, Masna

I know some of the basic commands but Ive been using A:M for a while and never knew "0" was bottom view. Aside from the user guide, is there a list of keyboard commands? In addition, I heard there is a "Snap to center" key command but I only see a "snap to grid" which is not what Im after.

Gang, I recently purchased the ExtraDVD and cannot successfully link the library tothe PWS for drag n drop. I have followed the instructions found at link http://www.hash.com/lib/. They were very helpful. I was able to move the original V11.1 data from the CD and the models, materials and projects all show as expected. I successfully transferred the ExtrasCDVol1 and the folder shows in the PWS and I can drill down to all the great content. Unfortunately this does not work for the new ExtrasDVD. No folder exisit in the PWS area for drill down. Perhaps there is some folder hierarchy which I am not following. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Mike

I'm going thru the tutorials (Tutorial 7/Lip Sync), and when I CTRL+Click (using Mac version 15.0b) to find New->Dope Sheet, there isn't a Dope Sheet in the menu...everything else, but no Dope Sheet. Is it still there?! Thanks!

I made a model, imported it into the choreography window, however, when I do this the bounding box (the yellow box around the models), is diagonal and mispraportioned. I have attached the project file and an image. Edit: I have reuploaded the project file(should be the second one) and the model file 15_second_project.prj 15_second_project.prj Guy.mdl

ok heres the deal 1 have one tank modle comprised of a base bone the turret and the gun barrel i have it sit still from time 0 to 5 seconds from 5 to 10 seconds the turet moves left 45 degrees then right 90 then back left 45 from 10 to 15 seconds the barrel does the same thing only up and down and from 15 to 20 seconds the tank moves forware out of frame as far as a know this was simpal but when moving through the animation using the preview bar starting from frame 0 it starts moving forward and the 2 seperate turret movments are combined as well , what am i doing wrong

Part of my animation sequence is moving to slow and I'd like to time compress it by about half. However there are dozens of keyframes affected. Is it possible to time compress/expand a section of an animated sequence without having to go and tweak all keyframes? I've been scouring through the timeline but can't figure out if this is possible.

I have this wolf model, but I need some help with it. I have some stubborn folds that won't go away. I'm also getting this weird line in the middle of my wolf's head when it's in toon render. Also if anyone has a tip on my wolf be sure to tell me. I noticed that since i've installed vers 15, my library is all but gone. Unlike previous versions, this didn't ask me if I wanted to "copy the CD data". So now all my actions, models, etc have to be "shortcut" back in. Is there an easier fix?

Trying to do a quick animation of a model walking over and hugging another character. However, 3/4 of the way through, the "hugging" character just stops. The timeline halts. (The scroll bar on the bottom still shows there is some more "scroll" to it) but nothing. I'm using (well, attempting) keyframes. I'm using version 15a. Any thoughts off hand? Other things I thought of are, i'm clicking "shift+keyframe" and selecting the first option. Animation seems to working well, but it just stops. Any suggestions? Help? Thanks.

Probably a simple property that got altered, but as I'm trying to do Exercise 6 and position shaggy, some of his bones have turned blue in colour and I can no longer control them properly. I can't grab the base of his hand bone and drag the whole arm around...I can't move it at all except for rotating it, or if I use the arrow keys on my keyboard it actually will deform the model itself. The bones that have remained while when un-selected operate as I would expect, just not the ones that are blue when un-selected. I Could use some help. I am trying to change the group surface properties over time (Ambiance percentage and Glow). I've got the latest David Rogers A:M book which states, surface changes can be made over time. The section on surface property relationships is a bit confusing. I've tried it in a relationship using both percentage and On/Off sliders, but I get no results. I'm sure it is some simple but important item that I'm missing. I assume from absence of any real information in guides that it is not possible to use any form of scan software (eg on clay models) to develop character in Hash... characters must be created by the stitching method described I think. Any advice welcome. also about importing characters from other programmes outside Hash... I understand that inanimate objects can be imported. OK, I am stuck. I have spent the last 2 and a half years building models, sets, animating and assembling choreographies. I am going through our final renders, and have hit two huge problems that I cannot figure out how to correct. I called Hash's number and they told me that the problems were with the version I was using, and I needed to upgrade. I took them at their word, paid for v15 and I am getting the EXACT same issue. Hi - I am trying to get the effect of bright light bursting through a triangle shaped window - any suggestions - would I set the window transparency down and what type of light should I use. Hello, Can anyone help me with info on how I can load the Animation Master 2006 onto my Mac G3 blue tower with Panther? I keep getting the error message that says I need Tiger or Leopard and I don't want to spend another $100 bucks to upgrade. i was wondering if there was a way to set a object to rotate as long as its pose is turned on , i have a mega laser cannon with some rotatin parts and they spin quite fast so rotating this every 2 frams would be quite anoying .

ok i found out that having a spline in the main animation screen works really well for moving a flying object , how every it seams to auto set the movement from start to end without proper setup Ie i wanted a "asteriod" to over 50 secons slowly come in and eventualy hit the ground , but it hits at 20 seconds and for the life of me i cant figure out how to change this

ok iv been told that by using this constrant you can make it so that a bove can only move in specific directions , i have robotic arm and it has 3 joints 1 goes left and right , while the other 2 are up and down , (think a tarancalas leg) how do i set these up to work correctly as i tried myself but they didnt apperantly kick in

Hi - I have a potential client that want their plastic bottle modelled in 3D and animated to show how it works. I have been playing around w/ the fluids tutorials and all the samples that people have generously posted and it seems that fluids is more designed to work as a faucet, hose, water fountain... anything flowing. Is it possible to have fluid in a bottle for example tip up the bottle and have it flow into a second chamber. I posted a flash anim of the bottle I modelled doing a 360 spin, so you can see the hole in the center that connects the two chambers that I need the fluid to flow through. Any help would be appreciated - even when you check "object collision…

Hi - I have been seaching the forum for materials trying to learn more about them. I see the following darksim link http://www.darksim.com/html/simbiontam.html How does this work - it says the Simbiont Plug-in is already in version 13... and up I am guessing. OK i really somehow gotta learn this slowly, but i need to learn this, itll make my animating like 100x easier. Whats happening is when i animate someone in a choreography i make then maybe jump or jump then spin, or also recently happening the can can then a slap on the face, but whenever i do this it always starts from the begginning so for the can can move, it totaly ruin it, because he starts slapping himself in the face at fraom 0 moving his hand slowly up. and for jumping he starts rising into the air from the very begginnimg and for the jump and spin he start spinning from the very begginning too. i dont know how to make it so they start the second actio…

if youv ever played any sci phi games you will notice that they usualy have a force field or bubble that has a really cool plasma effect , halo 1 in the control room for example , i was woundering if there was a way to do this in AM sort of like this with out so many colors and transparent rainbow image and sorta lke this, its the one on the bottom as i couldent add the pic here as saying something about picture extentions picture any other vareation on this would also be appreceated as i need some thing workable before flashy

Hi - I need to create a golden planet w/ a glow around it - for the planet I just used a sphere, and created a material for it - but I noticed the "glow" in the property attributes doesn't have any sub setting, there is just an off and on. Is there a combo of other property attributes that I can use to get the effect I am looking for - just a glow around the planet - thanks for any suggestions.

with all the help if been getting im getting close to rendering my first longer that 5 secons movie but there is one last thing ( at least for know) that i still dont know how to do or at least correctly , the movie is going to have a car getting chased by a plane of sorts and there is going to be shooting . my questions are , A is there any way to do a good muzzel flash, B since there is going to be at least 50 differant shots fired do i have to have 50 models in at the start and

i recentaly saw a cool wizzard use in witch a font wizzard was used to make a fish that was golden brown and still smiling and that got me thining , is there a wizard that would take a picture and create a model from it ( noting that it woud need to be cleaned up ) .
