starving4rtist Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 It seems like I come back here every few months with a new project. I've just been working on this in my free time (which is harder and harder to find), but it's coming along slowly. Quote

UNGLAUBLICHUSA Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 Any John carter of Mars inspiration there? Looks like the description of a Thoat. They are the martian equivalent of a horse used in the Edgar Rice Burroughs series. Looks cool so far. Quote

starving4rtist Posted July 10, 2007 Author Posted July 10, 2007 I got some more time to work a bit more on this. Here's what I have so far on the front arm/hand. I'm pretty happy with it so far, but there are still a few places that need some refining/reworking: Quote
the_black_mage Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 so you finally get a chance to work on this a year later? like i said before you still rock and i still suck at monsters lol , but i'm pretty much good at every thing else now... Quote
starving4rtist Posted July 18, 2007 Author Posted July 18, 2007 Update: (Larger version) Working on connecting the head to the arms. It's been through a lot of changes so far, but it's slowly getting to a point where I'm happy with it. I haven't put any detail work into the upper shoulders/back yet, just shaping it so far. And please don't mind the ribcage/shoulderblades...they're mainly placeholders for now. Quote
KenH Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 That's rocking. Just a general observation.....I don't know what look you're going for......but if the eyes were more forward facing (imagine that spot above the eyes being the eye area), it would make him appear more predatory. Eyes on the side of the head make animals look more dozy. Quote
NancyGormezano Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 if the eyes were more forward facing (imagine that spot above the eyes being the eye area), it would make him appear more predatory. Eyes on the side of the head make animals look more dozy. In real life, it is true that predators have evolved to have their eyes facing forward (better for hunting, focusing), while their prey do have their eyes on the sides of their head (larger field of view, better to see movement, and the predators coming). starving4rtist Posted July 20, 2007 Author Posted July 20, 2007 Thanks for the input guys. I'll have to look more into that and try a few things out. Just messing around a bit more...here's a real render: Quote
Mr. Jaqe Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 WHOA! Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles-flashbacks! From yesterday. That monster really reminds me of one of the monsters in the movie. Only it looks better! Love it. It's scary, it's scalyish and it has red eyes. I'm a big fan of small details and this monster has 'em. Monsterriffic. Cheers, J Quote
stinkyu111 Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 wow scary great job i like the texture of the room, it suites the beast Steve Quote
Zaryin Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Looking great! I know this is going to sound weird, but one of my favorite things is the webbing between the thumb and index finger . Quote
