  1. I've enjoyed the views, quite artistic. Suggestion: cobwebs in the corners and fog
  2. Make a few models of the legs, attach them, then post the picture so we can all give you input as to which one gets the most votes
  3. Nifty idea to have those planes in formation. Retract the landing gear though, tweak the lighting to match the the scene, then you really got a winner
  4. It's easy, click on Browse nest to the File Attachment, choose the jpeg you wish to add, then click Add This Attachment, then Add Reply [attachmentid=15058]
  5. I personally don't think it's too long. This is a demoreel, you need to demonstrate your work, which means to give the prospective customer time to examine the work. I wouldn't change a thing.
  6. Sooooooooper Great start. I like the armor texture, and that bandaid on the leg is an awesome touch. Way to go.
  7. Good looking back flip. The head needs to tilt back as soon as he's off the ground. Nice work
  8. Lovable characters. Their looks alone tell stories. Nice work.
  9. This is way freaky Mark. As the picture was loading my eyes were drawn to the red eyes staring at me in the dark part of the corridor, but when I kept looking at it, ever so slowly a shape of a head with horns starting appearing How on earth did you manage that on a still? Aside from my heart racing, you got some awesome texture work there. I love it....I'm still scared...but I love it.
  10. That's a sweet looking sword. I like that bottle cap opener notch near the handle, you never know when she might need it How about a wire frame?
  11. Thanks Karl. Now you've taken the mystery out of it
  12. You're such a ham Yeah, yeah, it looks great. hey, BTW, why aren't you at the TWO project?
  13. Dan had just posted a similar problem with his project, this is how he solved it: "Right click on specularity and go down to "constant." "
  14. I'm glad you posted this Dan. I only saw Nan% at work (HVAC controls). I had no idea this was a "programming lingo". Thanks. Glad you solved it & good luck in the contest
  15. Charlie is absolutely right, except for the fact that those spark plug wires, in this case, screem for attention (being red with yellow background). 4 cps is all you really need, simply enlarge the wires and readjust positions - not much to it.
  16. Hi Nathe, I personally used the tutes on-line, http://www.hash.com/VM/ except for a couple of exercies that are only in the book. I like the on-line because of its speed, and I can pause it while I follow each step & then continue. How to model anything always depends on the purpose of the model (screen shot, detailed shot, close up, background, etc..) For a shot with buildings in the background then all you need is modify a cube and apply a decal of a building on it. If on the other hand you need a detailed model, then my advice is to go thru all of the tutorials, then you can go back to the tutorial that applies to what you want and create your model. That's how I do it anyway. The bones question is also answered in the on-line tutorial.
  17. Is it just me or do those spark plug wires look too thin?
  18. If it were me, I'd give it a character by adding some sort of a knob that is broke but yet still attached. As the head moves it has the secondary motion of a broken knob
  19. A shock absorber?
  20. Welcome aboard Ken. I share your frustration and elation, and I believe the majority of A:M purchaser fall in that same category. I hope you'll share your creations here in the forums. Looking forward to it
  21. I just love the simplicity of your design Jam. For the arms, how about a ball in that socket & out of the ball comes the arm which looks like the clamp-on/table lamp (ala Pixar's lamp)?
  22. What is it exactly you're trying to accomplish?
  23. You're not serious
  24. I vaguely remember, in some movie, somwhere, a long time ago, there was this robot who has a friend that chirps and squeaks for speech... the movie was about wars and stars... was it wars of the stars?...something like that... the robots had names made of letters & numbers....something like that...can't remember Anyway, here's an idea, how about a monocular instead of binocular for his eye/head? And don't make it dead in the center, put it to one side of the head, kinda emphasize the 'off-beat' nature of this silent friend
  25. Nice! is about the only word that comes to my mind, so I'll stick with that
