  1. It does give you pause when your kickstarter falls flat. Especially when you are raising money for a film, because that film is intended to be shown/sold to an audience (right?) So after my kickstarter, I had to wonder if TAR was such an awesome project because the response was very tepid as I wrote about here. I have continued to work on it, but I have really spun out... I am at a loss for meaning, I can't answer for myself "why" I am making it, and I can't even delude myself that an audience is waiting for it.
  2. I think the Makerbot would handle it. You could also look at a service like Shapeways, which has a lot more material options including metal! [edit] This bolt and nut are samples from the Replicator2 and are printed at 250 microns
  3. Is there enough work to put together an A:M showreel like this 2013 one for Blender?
  4. Congratulations!
  5. Here is a break down of mine: http://zandoria.wordpress.com/2013/07/21/v...-at-ninja-pass/
  6. Try using Ambience instead of Flat shading. You could make your ambience 75% and still pick up the shading in A:M
  7. I think leave it as is--the mascot changes pretty frequently, not on a calendar year, so we could just have more contests
  8. It would be cool to rotate around the camera target from the camera view, in the same way as other views. Sometimes the camera navigation can be tricky--because it is analogous to traditional camera moves (but why keep be limited to that?)
  9. Toon! --and I like the simple background too I've been learning an app called Procreate on my iPad to create digital paintings to use as backgrounds for TAR of Zandoria. When I look through the "Art of _____" books that accompany many CG movies, one of the things that I find is that I like he look of the 2D concept paintings much more than the 3D scene in the movies...So I thought I might be cool to just paint everything and layer it all together.
  10. I'm ready to see the entries!!! I keep hitting "show new posts"
  11. Great suggestion!!!
  12. not sure...sounds like the vertices are not welded. I have Zbrush, so I would use that to modify an .obj from Hash, since you can use dynamesh to rebuild and it would fix that. I'm going to have to set aside some time to learn these new tools and really get the most out of them
  13. I've done a few experiments with Sculptris and A:M using it as a PROP for landscapes: https://zandoria.wordpress.com/2013/05/09/zbrush-to-am/
  14. Nicely Done! That retopo looks like it was a lot of work, but it turned out great! Have you seen the new Zremesher in Zbrush 4.6? http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?178984
  15. great job, everyone! Thanks for organizing, Ilidrake!
  16. The .mtl file is a little weird...writing all the properties out in one line. it does look like it is loading the image as diffuse color and as transparency (d)...I'll make time to play with this and see if I can figure out. The layer object using the .png image is probably the best way to use if you don't need to be up close #Tree Created using TreeSketch 3.0 newmtl branches Ka 0.2 0.2 0.2 Kd 0.8 0.8 0.8 Ks 0.8 0.8 0.8 Ns 5.0 illum 2 map_Kd Tree6-12-13_9_51_AMBark.png newmtl leaves Ka 0.2 0.2 0.2 Kd 0.8 0.8 0.8 Ks 0.8 0.8 0.8 Ns 5.0 illum 2 d 0.99999 map_Kd Tree6-12-13_9_51_AMLeaf.png map_d Tree6-12-13_9_51_AMLeaf.png
  17. I haven't got a chance to try in A:M, but tried in Vray--I had to load the leaf.png twice, using it for diffuse color and for transparency. The .mtl file may not be referencing the map twice (which is an easy fix in a text editor)
