  1. Entirely up to you. MB does not add (too much) to render times... it gives a nice, natural blur to faster-moving scene elements...do you want that?
  2. A:M has two different ways of generating motion blur...one in multipass and the other in the standard renderer. The better of the 2 would be multipass...as Rob mentioned it actually interplolates the differences from frames to frame- so with 25 passes there would be 25 motion blur samples to blur together...which is pretty good! The parts of the image that do not move will also benefit from 25 passes of antialiasing...for smoother edges.
  3. Rodger- your mechanical modeling is 2nd to none! I think more than a few of us could appreciate some 'hardware' from you...please! We have a new forum for model sharing...we'll have Rodney move your donation over to there after a while so it can be found for perpetuity.
  4. Ouch! You might try 'Facebooking' whoever is the entity behind the Hash.com Facebook interface. I think it might be Jason Edit: SIMONDS. I apologize for the ways things are right now, and hope you get your software quickly.
  5. If your not gonna get too close to it...just use a decal. That's what I did in this animation: http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?act=a...st&id=44227 (You will see a 'plug' in the final-third of the movie. A decal is applied to a lathed spere for the 'nut'.
  6. It looks like a glitch in the glow to me. Try adjusting glow settings... HEY! That was just my 3,000th post!
  7. The one Nancy speaks of is to be found in V15 only...methinx
  8. It's hard to cut objects out that are 'racked' out of focus. My approach would be to (in Pshop) use the 'polygon lasoo tool' which is the coat-hanger looking tool that makes straight line selections...cut-out the fence with a uniform estimation to it's edge... once selected, use the 'feather' tool to modify the selection's softness- then you could copy-paste to get the fence on it's own layer... and composite from there.
  9. Hey Bighop! Fellow Michigander here(GO LIONS!)... I would FIRST go to the website of the store where you are interested in buying from (Lumber Liquidators, Lowes, Home Depot, 85 etc) and SECOND choose and download a 'swatch' or swatches (jpeg image) of the floor you might be interested in and THIRD make a grid (use the grid wizard) for the floor and apply the swatch as a patch image to the grid-group. It wont 'tile' but you will get a good feel for what you will get, and you could always use a photo-editor to make the swatch tileable. Don't actually do the job though---because I've been putting it off myself because of the recession we are in and you will make me look and feel bad. ( I have a very large kitchen that is currently CARPETED of all things... and is in bad need of a really expensive remodel...)
  10. remind us of which version and platform you are...
  11. Pearls of wisdom- well documented. Thanks Fuchur...I will be needing to be going down this road soon.
  12. VERY COOL MODEL. I don't know if you really NEED TSM... because of his short lil stubby legs you may suffice with a simple 1 bone-rig in each leg...use LOTS of CP weighting.
  13. Happy Birthday Caroline...you spline-n FOOL!
  14. This is a feature that has been on my 'wish list' for some time now. I've seen some amazing things done with an exported 3D camera into AE... it opens-up worlds of graphic possibilities. To the best of my knowledge there is no such thing... I'd suppose it could be done by assigning a bone to the camera and then exporting a BVH file for the bone...but that includes no lens data.
  15. The way things like that usually work is...you put it up- if they don't like it, they ask you to take it down. You take it down. I'd put it up there! thanks Gerry i'd like that but i'll have to change the beer label and ending tag before i do or get permission
  16. FABTASTIC! I love technical animations! That is very well done! Is there a VO? (I didn't hear one.)
  17. If you can...take a screen-capture of your Hair's property settings boxes- so we know where you are at. Are you employing the Muhair shaders on the hair?
  18. That's looking very, very cool!
  19. I get a nice feeling of 'the depth of space' from that image...which is actually pretty hard to emulate. Good job! I might think the yellow is a bit 'school-bus-ish'...but its up to you!
  20. Sounds like you were entering the wrong serial #... you won't use the one from your old CD- you should have gotten a new # with your subscription. Write it down!
  21. I've had to quit employing SSS for this very reason...my renders would crash mid-render, and by eliminating features one by one I determined that SSS was the culprit, both in V15.0E and F on a PC. Too bad, because it gives incredible results with a minimal render expense. I thought it had already been a reported issue.
  22. Nice clean character, Ken. I would expect NO LESS from the guy who did the Hash 'splash-page'. He should animate well. I think the electric-blue shirt is over burned, could be my monitor needs another kick...
  23. I have not been crashing... I usually hit 'apply' and then 'done'.
  24. I can see how the two can compete for attention... I just picked my acoustic back up after weeks of neglect and --- I GOT BLISTAS ON ME FINGAS! I like your image...my little brain wants to see some night lights from citys in the night-side of earth though. You know what program has the BEST lens-flare package I have ever used? A:M! Yup- the deepest and most comprehensive.
  25. Look at that...FIVE folks jumped-in to help you out- including Yoda himself! What a great forum!!!
