  1. That's a fun looking little gremlin! Great minimal splinesmanship... don't worry about not too many replies- we have lots of lurkers on this forum.
  2. Great findings. Really. Would a possible future feature request be that features like Simcloth (among others) have multiple 'defaults'... for instance, the default settings that the progammer(s) initially set the feature at BUT have an option box for: -Robs 'stiff' pants preset. -Matts 'velvet curtain' preset. -Dangling hair tuft preset. -etc
  3. We are kiddin ya, bro. We love that stuff, turn that spell-chenker back off!
  4. I'm happy to see you turn to the forum for some help with design work, Jason- excellent move. I hope we don't disappoint you.
  5. Actually, that mesh is much denser than I thought it would be! Rob, can you elaborate a little more on the settings? Just a high stiffness value?
  6. Dude...seriously... you are on to something here... two words of advice- ZIGN TRACK. (A:M Track facial motion-capture software.)
  7. When it comes time to weight and rig your character, a nice and economical splineage makes things easier... but sometimes in animation as you flex your character around you might wish you had used more splines here and there. Most of us learn by making tons of overkill patches, and as you progress and learn what is really needed you eventually become more and more conservative and minimal.
  8. Firstly... I laughed out loud at that... secondly, MAN! Thats some great simulated pants!
  9. Pretty cool... didn't I already see this movie in 5th grade?
  10. Very cool! Hey, you should try making the hair 'cloth' like in Robcats tests...give it some dynamics!
  11. Incredibly generous! Your cars are top-grade too! If I use one on a paying gig I will certainly pay you back.
  12. Great anime animation... I hope you will continue to produce with us!

    That's goofy-cool!
  14. It's usually good... crafty! The only 'bad' time to be using hooks is if you know you are going to be exporting your model to a polygonal file format- then don't use them...or 5 siders.
  15. SWEET! Thank-You! for the walk-thru!
  16. Don't know... maybe only works with .exr WHICH brings up the question... can we render FakeAO out to a exr sequence as well as png?
  17. Looking good...interested to see the rest. Loks like it could benefit from some Global Ambiance and a little FAKE-AO!
  18. COOL! I'd like to try it... but I haven't seen MegaMind yet... I don't know how it would work without a shutter, seems the images would just blur together. I saw a GREAT thing on a subway going from Brooklyn to NYC just before you go over the East River. A graffiti artist had done an animated graffiti-graphic on the wall of an tunnel/overpass. The combination of the speed of the Subway(about 35mph) the window on the car and the passing support-columns made a perfect 'shutter' effect... the art was perfectly placed on a wall further back from the columns and lit by the sun above. It lasted maybe 5 seconds and was truly heartwarming. There should be that kind of stuff everywhere (not necessarily graffiti) My first thought was... there should be a Coke Logo on that or something...shame on me. EDIT: OH I SEE... the cut notches act as a shutter, genius!
  19. Fantastic! You need to enter that into animation festivals... I would hope that would help you get a job... great layouts!
  20. Yeah... I am diggin that 'Annie Maye' look... one thing to remember, when you use elongated spheres for eyeballs you limit the ability for your character to look up or down.
  21. THANKS HOLMES! DANG...Rob, that's quite good!
  22. No... I considered making a chain using Newton Dynamics, but not the Dynamic Constraint... hmm. Now I am wondering how I would go about such an undertaking. Just make a bone at the top of the chain and weight the CP's between the bone and the model bone...? I'd like the chain to eventually 'drape' over other objects, which i am hoping the cloth will do for me...
  23. There you are! Scene 34 Gerry Mooney...how COOL! Now I get the 'Cricket in the Head' thing... this is going to be great! (PS- I know that dog...I hate that dog...)
  24. Inspired by Rob's test, I applied SimCloth to a chain I am making for an animated title... and it worked pretty good! I don't know how rob was able to 'lead' the rope around like that...mine is a simple cloth simulation on a 4 sided lathed 4 CP circle... and then using that as a path to apply all the little beads (done in an action) Needs work- but a great test I am happy with. armytest2.mov
