I've always been curious to see what other people's timelines look like. So here's a snapshot of mine aftere roughing-in an animation. The only thing I've keyed are the main poses and actions. Now I'll go back through it and refine the motion (a lot).

does anyone know of a good tutorial on using surface constraints. There is an expanation of how surface constraint are supposed to work in the AM help. I have looked at the explantion many times to see if I am missing anything and I still cant bring myself to experiment with the function. It is not clear in the example if the object I am constraining to a surface has any constrants on it too. Surface normals are mentioned but that is as far as it goes. It would be nice to make a chory action with a car driving over bump ground,

In response to Bruce's deranged but welcome request for celebrating Halloween in this thread: http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?s=&sh...ndpost&p=141506 & as I can definitely never resist a chance to embarass myself - I now present 2 clips - Both OLD (halloween 2000, hamming it up with a new netcam) - definitely BAD - and unfortunately complete (what's to improve?, some things are best left raw, and highly compressed). The first clip "I see Dead Piggies" was just soooooo wonderful it just begged to be used in the making of the second "Space CowGhoul". Post your past Flim-Flams here if you don't have a website (or would rather keep it pri…

'lo, Been quite some time since I posted any work at all, mostly because my lack of webspace and ability to host. Luckely, one of my friends offered me help with both hosting of my web-page and my files. I created this intro for another friend of mine(I got like many, almost 4 ) for about 6 months ago and it's the only thing I've uploaded so far, but at least it's something, right? Info and link: http://jstudios.lutrafobic.com/index.php?side=ani PS! Contains nudity. PS PS! I can't find the project, so although I'd love to re-do it, I can't unless I'd make the entire scene again. Critique is still very much apriciated, though.

I am using volumetrics in my chor (dust, mist, steam) in A:M 12.0n. My dust volumetric is too small and no matter how I try to make it bigger to fit the scene....nada! Stays small. I tried to make my dust volumetric larger by scaling it and by fiddling with the falloff and width softness and more. My dust just wouldn't render any larger. I'm kinda stuck, so help would be GREATLY appreciated. Pleeeeeze.

EDIT: Disregard this post, I don't know what happened, but I was working on the torso with everything else hidden, got it the way I wanted it, then saved, then unhid, and somehow all the cp's on the face were in different locations, it didn't even look like a shape anymore, tried to revert, no dice, tried to undo, no dice, so now it is off to a new model. I started working on this head yesterday, and have this so far. [attachmentid=12462] I still have to do some tweeking, and smoothing, which brings me to what I need help with. I placed the porcelain mat onto my model in PW window, and it smoothed it out very well. However, when I render from a cert…

Here is a screenshot of the place in the Property panel where you can swap your model in the chor for another model. At the very lease, both models must have the same bones and bone naming convention. If the first model uses an animation rig, the replacement should have the same rig installed.[attachmentid=12459]

Since there are so many still examples out there, I thought I'd post myself up a moving version. I think others have shown this technique before, but here's my thinking and set-up behind this particular scheme: You have the overall muscle bulk laid out (arm/leg masses, chest, etc). To add definition, you set up complex AM models (which would animate only with difficulty if part of the main mesh) as 'plus-ups.' These models would be good for structures like triceps, all those back muscles around the shoulder/spine area, tendons and whatnot. You could either paint these and try to animate them - or - you could build them out of splines, animate the splines …

I'm done with my SW movie, it's at a little over 11 minutes long. I still have to do all the voices and music, touch up scenes that don't look good and all that. The movie is is based on immortals like in Highlander, but in the Star Wars universe. I created a new trailer for the Star Wars short. Trailer It's MPG and is a little over 15 MB. It has some extra scenes and FX from the last trailer. I added SW music just so there is something until I create and add in my own. I may need some voices for charctors, most likely voice overs and those in helmets. I'll post if I do. Dan

Thanks to all the respondents. Here are the results (as of 2/24/2006 7:30 AM EST) in graph form (engineers like graphs). When the results are listed by category: Hobby-15 Freelance-8 Limited Freelance work-3 Freelance AM Main tool-3 Contests-2 Other-2 AM at Work-1 After combining the categories (Hobby & Contests) (Freelance, Limited Freelance work, Freelance AM Main tool) I was surprised to see the percent of people using A:M for paid work. Somehow I had the notion the percent of A:M users doing paid work was around 10%. Now obviously this is not a scientific poll as there were 34 respondents out of a total user base of (thousands). It is…

Fog is great, but is a bit limited in it's options. What's the best way to fade a background from light to dark, but in a nonlinear fashion? I'm thinking maybe a rotoscope over the camera? A gradient material applied to a screen in the background? I tried both but haven't had real great results. See the pic for an example of what I would like to achieve. Edit: I basically made an alpha map in the shape of the pic and added it as a rotoscop to the camera. Looks promising. There are two options that I'm not sure about - "On Top" and "Include in Alpha Buffer". What do these options do?
