Hi! I finally got some time to string our PTB movie together...all told it's 4 MINUTES! this guy is a nervous man ... here is my first pass, this isn´t the final render, it´s just a test to see how the character looks with hair... I´m at the middle, I´m going to try to finish the next week...greetings franky_hair_pass_the_ball.mov

Better late than never I suppose. Attempts at using character figures were less than successful due to my over-ambition and much to my disappointment over lack of skills. I used the Baseball model provided, Nick Porcino's classic USS Enterprise, and Star Spheres by Carmine Rizzolo. A background starfield was created in Paint Shop Pro using Flaming Pear Studio's Glitterado plugin, then two instances of the Star Spheres were put in for the traditional Original Star Trek warp speed effect. One single light source using Sun type light. Look closely and you can see the Ball enter left, though it's easily mistaken for a star. Running time is just under 6 seconds. …

So I had this model hanging around that I had created a good 4 years ago. He got wind of this project and begged to be a part of it. I mean the little bugger just wouldn't leave me alone until I gave in. So here he is... chatter.mov

Here's my submission...I'm not entirely happy with it, but I had to simplyfy things as camera movement and such was starting to get out of hand. I still need to do a final render and perhaps some tweeking of the camera and timing, so if any of you have suggestions let me have 'em.

I started this entry over a month ago and then got sidetracked, but during the last few days I was able to finish it. I'll probably finish another entry after this, but it will be a quick one. passthebal1l.mov

I learned a tremendous amount of various things doing this project, But I had to do it, I wanted to legitimately be eligible to buy and wear one of those damn T-shirts. The colors in Nigel's face were a lot warmer in the avi render, but the conversion to Quick Time washed them out and made him look grey. Myron__s_PTB.mov

Hi Guy's This is my attempt at an entry for Pass the ball, but I think I've got a bit carried away (20 seconds worth). My question is, is it too long to be included, or, should I start the clip just before the ball enters the frame? Glenn PTB_Shadow.mov

Hey Spliners! I HOPE people are still considering making a 'PASS THE BALL' movie for this years movie. I finally got off me 'duff and made one or two (3 actually) this week... and, hopefully to inspire folks...I'll post them here! THIS ONE is to be the main title, and will serve to 'get the ball rolling' as it were... MC_PTB_Title_small.mov

Hello .... Here is my entry to the "Pass the Ball" thinga-ma-jig. It's a bit odd so you have been warned. Notice: No aardvarks were harmed in the making of this. All stunts were performed by professional stuntvarks of local Union 657. PTB_2009.mov If the movie doesn't load above (because I have no idea what I'm doing), you can also view it from my website: PTB_2009 Thanks ... Bruce (the wedgeeguy)

Meet Martha Mouse. Because I'm a lazy twit and hate to rig, I borrowed some DNA (body, rig) from the Witch (in Scarecrow of Oz) - Head/face modeled, rigged by me (not finished), texture, hair by me. Original Witch was designed by me, modeled by Ken Heslip, rigged by Ken? using Squetch (ver 2) by David Simmons. Squetchy ball by Robcat. 4 pass - ave 23 seconds/frame - Global color = white, AI=50%, AO=0%, rim 20% (zbuf shadows), 2 suns (no shadows), reflections - 1 level, dynamic hair, dynamic constraints. I may tweak some. mouseballmedium.mov

This one could be too slow and long for the final, I wanted to try something with the 2 beautiful models by Jim Talbot. The rig isn't great though, the rigs have so much evolved since those guys were modeled. I might install the 2008 rig "in them". Sir_Nigel_ball.mov Michel

Hello Pass the Ball-ers! As time marches on and I have a handful of entries and see more in-progress here on the forum, I thought I would 'stir-the-pot' with an idea... A 'Pass the Ball' T-Shirt! Yes, now YOU- as a participant of the PTB2009 collaboration will be able to own a lasting keepsake of the event! I plan to design a shirt with a keyframe from each entry and place it for sale via an internet Tshirt printing service such as MySoti.com NOTE: MySoti uses an inkjet garment printer which is very much like silkscreening a Tshirt...the print has a very light 'hand' and lasts the life of the garment with rich bright colors... this is by no means an 'iron-o…

Hi! Here is what my limited imagination came up with right now. Been busy with school and swimming so.... progress is going to be slow but I'll try to make the deadline. Very basic scene. About 15ish thom models and a basketball. I rendered it out originally as a PNG sequence because I had a problem with the bump on the basketball and A:M would crash. That way I could figure what frame it was on. Fixed that now. Compiled in AE with a curves adjustment and a slight vignette. PTB_RUND_low.mov Its a hefty file but anything compressed below that looked horrible. (Uncompressed was 261mb) Here is a extra high res grab. I know its not the best but my imaginatio…

So this was one I thought fitting due to all the newton physics stuff I'm doing lately. This is a low res render without the cool sounds and tv scan lines... and glass refraction etc. All done with newton physics except of course the paddles. I'll let you bright people theorize how I hit the ball with the paddles... it wasn't easy. pongscreenB.mov -vern

THIS is the baseball model featured in the opening credits of the original 'Pass the Ball'. If you would like to use it as a 'common' ball model...please do. It is optional, and yes- you CAN use other balls if you like. Up to you. NOTE: There is a pose you need to turn ON to get the stitches to wrap to the ball... HashBaseball2V13.zip

Thought I had better post something! All my ideas thus far have been of the Star Wars... guy ball defeats the evil villian ball and rescues the girl ball epic proportion size. So I decided to counter that craziness by doing something simpler. The most important thing being to move that ball!!! So here's a red ball in fog to get me started. RedRollingBall.mov

Rendered with 1 pass final, at half size, no compression, 121 frames at 24 fps, hair, transparency, 1 level reflection, IBL, AI = 50%, 1 zbuff light. (2-4 secs frame render time). Then slowed animation down using QT pro to 1/2 speed (doubles number of frames), doubled the resolution to 864 x 486, mpeg4 medium quality. hipwatercomp9slo.mov

Maybe this should be in the Newbies section but it is on topic so I thought I'd give it a shot here. If the Omnipotent Powers That Be should deem it appropriate to move this thread topic it's fine with me. I hinted in another thread for someone to donate a ball model that was rigged for Squash & Stretch, but evidently there weren't any volunteers. Sooooo . . I'll make one if I can and perhaps I can at least be a bad example for others to learn from. I can make a sphere, that's within my fumbling grasp. It's the squash & stretch rig that I don't quite understand. Does a ball need a squash & stretch rig? Would it just be one bone and a bunch of po…
