Tai, Good to see you back, even if you need to focus more on finding a job, and don't give up hope on animating for a living, one never knows, you do have skills, I sure can see then, Ive been at it as a hobby for a few years now, and I consider your skills are past mine.... and I know what you mean about posting on other threads but sometimes just a keep it up or a looking good goes along way ... good luck with the job hunt, hope you find one you like , or like me, tolerate...

Hey man! smile... you've got to do these type of projects for other reasond then forum members, many lurk, some comment.. thats life...... cool project regardless of its new status. Most all of us know what it is like not to have a comment thrown our way, But there is give and take, have you been commenting on others projects?, I can't say ,I don't know. Do you comment on all or most other posts? If so I feel your pain.. but still do these things for self gratification...

I invented a shotgun once that would chamber some of the expansion from the blast to another cavity that had a piston that would be forced back in the opposite direction of the projectile in order to negate the kick. Patented and all. Yea, right!

Ok, got mine set up, guess it knows what its doing from here on out.... its does say, connected to render slave.....cool... I have just over 1 gig ram only hope it won't matter......

Should be a cool project, BTW whats the difference between a Mexican cactus and an Arizona cactus? sorry no punch line here, just curious...

That is pretty neat, cool effect!

Satyajit, what are your rendering system specs? or have you already mentioned that?

Sorry I missed this thread, I mistaken it for something completely different. Enjoyed the group, sense, well I wont mention how long. Excellent modeling , man Ill have to study their splineage. Love the music video animation, Im kinda hooked on them for modeling projects myself. Thanks for this fine thread and the updates..... I have seen the light ! and oh, what a RUSH !

Regardless of some issues, it sure looks good John,

I believe , but don't quote me ! that with so few entries there is only 1st place....

Ive been experimenting with the Hair System too. IS your 375 Hair density the % density setting? that is if it goes above 100. I have my set at 10 @ 100% and that seems dense enough for my purpose . Maybe I better check my settings again.

U can use the Vortex force to effect the sprites of choice, worked for a black hole animation I did awhile back...
-
I love all your tests and experiments, makes me try some myself .... and they are always helpful. Thanks again John..

Would motion blur might help ?

My Gosh! as usual beautiful craftsmanship, Man! I'm going to have to dust off my C-130 Hercules model..... I love seeing your modeling works, Thanks

William, Not sure if the pics help explain what Ive done, so Ill try to explain the best I can A. Cone shaped model to funnel sprites to center location via gravity? B. Outer ring model for emitting sprites ((2 separate emitters, 2 differing sprites) tried 1 emit. w/ two sprite images but didn't render like I wanted) Also I have this ring circling ,not sure if it matters. C. In the center of it all I have a torus model flattened somewhat (color = yellow) (99% transparency) just for Glow effect. D. Also in center in a disk patch model with a hole in the center, this is use as a sprite emitter with color tint settings and size of sprite changes. E. There are two Fan forces centered in the cone, one is small with falloff influencing only the center, then a larger fan force w/ falloff that goes out to near the edge of the cone model. F. There is the blue beam coming from the center that is a Volum. effect, (dust) (I don't like the looks of it and working on improving. G. I don't use the Chor. rim light but I do use the other two. (so special reason) and the ground is not active. Hope It makes sense, along with the pics.. Thanks for the comments everyone.....

It's a fan force (sphere), actually a couple of them of differing sizes....

Thanks for the comments , Kelley,Eric & Cross. (sounds like a law firm) Rendering at posted resolution 640/360 took 20 sec per frame avg. @ D1 NTSC it takes 27 sec per frame avg. (preroll takes around 2:30 sec.)

Here are a couple of renders of my interpretation? of a black hole, (not exactly black), this is all for fun and to see just what I can come up with .I have also attached a zip file containing my sprite collection, 17 sprites total. I used various sprites, forces, glow and volumetrics to get what I have so far. It's not what I'm look for so, back to experimenting!..... Nice one John, in the spirit and all, or is that, you've been getting into the spirit or is that, you've been getting into the "spirits" (smile). I do like it, now start selling them at Wally world and make a fortune!

Starship Enterprise: Work in Progress
Kamikaze replied to Tacku's topic in Work In Progress / Sweatbox
I really enjoy seeing folks own redesigns of things, nice job, if your looking for any modeling feedback Id suggest posting a shaded wireframe version of you cool models, also I would like to see an animation, nothing to complicated, just seeing them move about would be cool too, inside a nice star sphere maybe? Mike C -
Luuk, I think, just guessing though, that maybeee the model, I mean the real model, the real girl, just might distract from the software, (what's it called again?, just kidding) even with all those white heads on her face, she is just too cute.........
