  1. Working or should I say goofing with the hair system and trying to come up with decent settings for a Man in a Gilly Suit ....on this attempt, the model is an altered version of the mannequin model found on the forum or is that one of the extra CD/DVD ? then I applied a camo material to most of his body. and to attempt to control the density of the hair I applied 2 decals, black on the front and white on the back ...... I don't like the way it looks yet ......attempting an animation at the moment to see how it reacts with motion....I think it may be a little limp, not enough stiffness....... Mike Cossey
  2. After reading this thread ... I don't think I will complain about my piddly ass job ..... I average about 36 hr a week, make only 11 dolls per hr. (get a good education ...and then there is still no guarantee, no I am a HS drop out of the 70s) I sit on my ass and watch TV for a living .....yes I bring my laptop with AM on it and spend all night figuring out one little problem ....so I don't get much done but ti passes the time ....... I'm 56 and I watch over 60 to 90 year olds, and many of them get around better than I do .. of course heart troubles and 1 heart attack may be the reason, Doc told me the grave yard shift will put you in an early grave.(25 years of grave shift and aint dead ..yet!)..he advised me to get a day job .... I can't do any of the day jobs I qualify , education wise, for...to physical..that is if there are any of those left ...... I know it wasn't the purpose of this thread to make me feel better about my situation, but it did.......but I also have empathy (is that the right word to use?) for those of you who feel stuck in that old work rut ...... Ive had a few year of those work hour under my belt....
  3. Yes ..that was a nice piece of animation and cool music .......can't beat that combination.. Mike
  4. That is fantastic chrome John ..and thanks for the shader link.... and the second one kicked booty ....... so cool to do the pdf John..
  5. Welcome back! from one Mike to another ......I too have been away for a few years.. I kept checking in on and off in my hiatus ..... I needed to get back into my music and now that I knocked off the rust of playing guitar I think I can handle 2 novice/amateur hobbies at once....I just upgraded to AM 16b 64 bit and the speed improvements are freakishly amazing compared to 14c, my newest older version ...... look forward to see what U come up with..... Mike C.
  6. In agreement.... it should be that each new version has it's own Mascot .... and I have enjoyed them all ........
  7. What does that mean? Sometimes I wish I knew what I mean ....... Are we suppose to keyframe any object we put into the chor at frame 2? or have I misunderstood something (would not be new to me) I have a backup plan if I cant get my eng sprite smoke to work so it's not a scene killer....... anyway..off to bed ....another long night at work..brain is mush.. Mike
  8. Project leaders... I seem to have a problem with setting key frames @ 2...but only on a somewhat intense model (my c 130 from years ago.......) don't want to give away what I am attempting to do but, the c130 doesn't seem to want keyframing and I can't even turn it's active off at 0 and 1.......... and damn if I can't get my engine smoke sprite to work when it's on a path.......... I'll keep chugging to see if I can fig it out....... Mike
  9. I enjoyed all your drawings here but esp. the bathing suit model ...is she attached?...I mean single? Mike
  10. another nice one John ..... looks damn real...
  11. Hey Folks I have an old model that I build a ways back in v14c of a c-130 aircraft ....... I'm trying to get it to leave a smoke trail as it goes along a path in a chor. I had it working in 14c back in the day but I am having problems in 64b AM 16b on windows 7 64 bit......when I put it in a new chor alone on a path it works fine but when I bring it into another chor..to be specific the chor used in the "rear window" group project started by robcat ..it does not emit sprites... I want to use this c 130 in a flyover scene .....with the smoke trail behind it...now for more detail.....the 4 engines on the c 130 are brought into the chor as action objects ...... and first off I can't seem to get it keyframed on the 2nd frame as required by the rear window guidlines ....I can't even turn it from active to off the 0 and 1 frames....and I can't seem to get the tint sprite settings to make any difference on any chor. I want a darker smoke..... This probably all sounds confusing, just got off work, so I can't keep a straight thought ....but I wanted to post this before I hit the sack, and see if anyone may have a clue.....I have tried many of the sprite settings from chor length and so on.... Ok got to get to bed.. Thanks for reading Mike
  12. Original looking characters ...and expressive body animation...good going.. Mike
  13. Hang in there ...... I hear pain pills don't help much........ Oh BTW...I'm Back ...... and it's good to read you on the board ! Mike
  14. I meant to say camera in it position but focused on the sky, or something falling from..yea I watched the vid and camera must stay in its original position.....
  15. Sept 30th. cool....Does camera shot need to be static........can one pan from sky to courtyard ...and if so how difficult would it be to set the 3d frame during transition?
  16. Oh this is going on still? ........ if so, can one do an aerial shot , lets say starting off with something in the distant sky and going from there? I may be thinking too ambitiously Mike
  17. Damn...I missed the boat ?....(could the deadline be 2013? ,if Maya doesn't get us in Dec...smile)....I would have like to give this a try ...and BTW .....I learned a lot of great general info from the video ..... so thanks a bunch just for that.!!! Mike
  18. Just voted .... .... I am very impressed with the submissions .....WoW
  19. Yea, I'm going to have to get the newer version...I thought AM was a V17......... Ive got my time down to 9:24 ...... shaving off appx 3 min per frame... both cores are being used it seems at least that is what core temps are showing...... and I overclocked to cpu's max documented speed of 2.5 ghz ...... This is fun... UPDATE------just subscribed to new version 16b........64bit Render Time 5:24 Nutter UPDATE--------on 17 beta 5 SSE3 64 bit Render Time 4:47
  20. version of A:M: 14c render time min:sec: 12:32 CPU Brand and model: amd a4-3300m Actual CPU speed in GHz: 1.9 ghz Dual Core how many cores A:M is using: 1 I think RAM: 4gb (3.48 usable) OS: Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) This is a hp pavilion g6-1b60u says 1 cpu dual core 1.90 to 2.5 ghz depending on ? I used CPU-Z software to check cpu speed while rendering it stayed in the 1.9 area and even dipped lower on occasion.... Task manager shows CPU running at 50% so probably 1 core running? May overclock CPU to say at a steady 2.5 ghz like a friend of mine has done for the past year with no overheating problems.... Also adding 4 gb more ram, when it shows up. Mike Kaze
  21. Well one of those settings you showed sure did the trick...!!!!!! Robcats the man with the clues
  22. Got it and thanks a bunch Robcat!!! ......and Im not sure what setting fixed it....... Mike
  23. That helped somewhat ........but what setting do I have wrong for the ground to look like it does in this pic? Mike Good to be back.... test53b.tga
  24. Howdy Folks, Been awhile sense I've used A:M and seeing if I can get back into it before a possible upgrading....I am using 14c Some of U may remember this old newbie... Ok the problem ,I want to use a picture I took and add a 3d model to it with its shadow on the ground plane.... I've gotten the shadow to show up but the model does not show........or visa versa.... Ground plane has receive shadows on and shadow only on and front projection target and flat shaded on but even when off no render differance Model has cast shadows on Camera has shadows on and a rotoscope pic/decal with On top off and include in alpha buffers off I've done this before with a video and got it to work, but oh so long ago... Shadow buffers on in the output for render options to tga Any suggestions much appreciated........ Mike Cossey test53.tga
