  1. We should clarify what you want to do. Import and export are two different things. You said you want to model in A:M and export that to AutoCad. Not going the other way. Modeling to scale in A:M shouldn't be a problem, it's got built in rulers in the modeling windows. Just test your workflow out first. Make a simple test model, export it to DXF (or whatever format you decided will work) and open it in AutoCad. Do not expect that changes made to that model in Autocad will be able to be imported back into a normal A:M model. Most polygons models are bad candidates for import to A:M.
  2. easier solution.... reduce the darkness of the color in the material that is casting too much of a shadow. For example, instead of a material that is a black and white checkerboard, change it to a gray and white checker board. OR a black and gray checkerboard.
  3. Is that a change from previous versions? one work around might be variously reducing the intensity of the light and adding a non-materialed fill light to compensate.
  4. I wouldn't' expect that to work. I've always had to drag a pose to the top of the list to re-order. It's a bit like the "Towers of Hanoi" puzzle. Arbitrary re-ordering doesn't seem to be suportted. you should be able to create them anytime. Did you in the User-Props to do this?
  5. You can see the finished test now on my 2D blog.
  6. Great character. I think you should resolve to properly attach the ears on him.
  7. We're glad you asked instead of wandering away mad!
  8. I believe she went missing over the Pacific. Is there a way to make that hair cast shadows on the head?
  9. I'm torn between the two. They are such graphic shapes that either seems to work. Although i agree the 3D versions could be brighter overall.
  10. Poses are part of a model, not a project. You probably meant that, but FYI... Did you do this: in the properties window for that model, expand User properties and on the pose you want to delete>choose delete. Then delete the (now empty) folder for that pose in your PWS. Of course you have been saving versions of your model as you went along so you could always go back to then one before you added the bad poses. I'm not sure about what you mean in your second post. detail that a bit more.
  11. Do you have A:M already? If you do, start experimenting with the available formats. That will tell you more than I can. And if you dont' have A:M... it's only $79.
  12. Welcome to A:M! what formats does Autocad import? If you inthe model window>Plugins>Export you can see the list of export formats A:M has installed. DXF might be a likely one. try exporting a simple object and see if you like the results
  13. Looks great! Are you doing something to blow out the edges of the trees where they meet the sky?
  14. Hey, I enjoyed that! As always, the devil seems to steal the show in these sort of things. So what sort of program was this a thesis for? Animation? Media? Movie-making?
  15. Cute! I feel bad for the butterfly though.
  16. That's a snazzy looking car! But that garage isn't going to help much in a hail storm! Is the underside of the car red? is that what's causing the odd red shadow underneath?
  17. Wow! That's a first-class looking head.
  18. Here;s what the "rough" looks like. Lotsa work to do. jumprough.mov
  19. Yeah i think if you make it less spherical it will look like an elbow hinge. Unless you really do want it to be able to swivel in any direction, but probably not. I guess I shouldn't say it's ALL in the body language. But you can do a lot with that. Animated faces never have the same life that real faces do so getting the body to help is useful. Good taste should rule, it can get corny either way. Watch some silent dramas made before , say, 1920 (like Rudolph Valentino in "The Sheik") and you'll see some pretty ghastly body and face acting. On the other hand someone like Clara Bow had an amazing face that could say sentences without speaking. We don't think of her as a pantomimist like Chaplin, but she knew what she was doing. I just looked at that Bow clip again and it occurs to me that between the lighting and the makeup her face has been simplified down to not much more than the mouth and eyes. Geez, in that last shot she's practically a panda bear! If she can work with that I suppose our robots can too. If you have a chance to watch a Clara Bow movie she is a real study piece even in the weak ones.
  20. that's a cool looking figure. I have one suggestion... flatten the ball that is the elbow joint, to make clear teh direction that it hinges. When we first see it it looks like the elbows are turned wrong or could go in any direction It's all in the body language and the poses he takes on. The face isn't always needed. Chaplin liked to say "I can show any emotion in silhouette" There are "weight" issues in that animation but as a test of the rig it shows you've got it working.
  21. thanks! Not on this one, I have a hard time just drawing legs consistently.
  22. Ich wunsche sich ein frohliche Geburtstag! Und viele mehr!
  23. It's the most recent that David Rogers has written. Some new features have been added since then of course, but I don't think anything that's new would invalidate the advice he gives on the features he does cover. As always, you can ask on the forum when you have a question. New features tend to have gotten some discussion here in several threads.
  24. I've been trying to animate something like this in 2D, so i made this little study in A:M to better understand the timing and poses. I've written some notes on it so you can see some of my reasoning in working thru it. X = extreme poses B = breakdown poses. These are added after the extremes to add overlap between poses or to make arcs better stuff in green is extra polishing things jumpnotes.mov
  25. I didn't even know there was an 8 core mac! Are you able to run windows on that? Faster or slower times?
