  1. No, it's not a contest. It's our annual everyone-can-play forum project, like the previous "pass the ball" or "Stereoscopic AniJam" projects. I hope you'll join in!
  2. basically what part of the first page do you have Questions about?
  3. I recall my original inspiration was this industrial film: (1935)
  4. Yeah, the eyes are just a decal, I was trying to make them appear as another specular highlight. Eyes were a bit of a problem for the concept. I don't think actual eyeballs floating in the water would work. But it's a problem for the ages now...
  5. I seem to recall that we're supposed to simulate springs before rendering now, but back around v10.5 I didnt' have to. None-the-less if you candocument a case of unecpected behavior with particles present make an AMReport of it.
  6. my clouds project has an example of spriticles with opacity animated over time. Look at that. for animated sprites, try a TGA sequence rather than mov.
  7. Every now and then I get a call out of the blue from someone who wants me to be part of their project. These usually don't go anywhere and this is one of them. Anyway, this guy wants to make a movie, for money, using A:M! I read the screenplay, it's got problems but the core concept is a cute one. The main characters are water drops. What will that even look like? I made a quick test for him of what that might be and since there was never an NDA involved... here it is:
  8. That is correct. Good start!
  9. 1 Yes! The pink looking icon on right. "Patch Group Mode (Shift-P) 2 hmmm... No. Simple work around... go to a side view to select the half you want to work with and (H)ide the rest 3 Yes! Magnet mode. top toolbar.
  10. Do you have a small-size button I could put in the links on the side of my blog? Something 220x50 pixels would fit.
  11. Welcome to the forum! Short answer, yes, but maybe not, depending on what you have done previously. The explanation is long to type out. In my signature there is a link to videos I have made. Watch the ones on "Keyframing" options. The "filters" you have selected have a lot to do with what gets keyframed. What's a "filter"? Watch that video.
  12. If you need Illustrator, you need Illustrator. I've gotten interesting results sometimes by rendering in A:M to toonlines only and letting a 2D program autotrace that This auto traces the edges of the lines in ToonBoomStudio strut01 this one extracted a uniform single line from the toonlines walktest But if you really need the full power of Illustrator it's probably better to work in that.
  13. in.. the properties window?
  14. I'm not sure exactly what you are describing. Make sure your rotoscopes are set to unpickable and that their "View" property is correctly set. Just trying it briefly, I can't get them to disappear. It could be a graphics card RAM thing. Try rebooting.
  15. Does the simulation at least work if you just let the cloth settle and dont' move the legs?
  16. You are trying to join two CPs? IIRC... you left-button drag one CP over to another and then right-click while you are still holding down the left button. Then let go
  17. Those look wonderful! I particularly like the planes. Let's see... translated with high school German that says "Marina Vonsee and the Terrors of the South Sea"
  18. Funny stuff. I'm going to guess Michael Jackson didn't commission the portrait of him.
  19. Those are looking good!
  20. That's a decent first effort! From a story perspective, I'd suggest having him turn around and trudge off since he missed the bus
  21. I like that very much. I'm eager to see it.
  22. The long and the short of it is that I really shouldn't try to participate in any A:M Forum projects that have deadlines, as all my A:M'ing is done on company time. That's why my entry for the Comicon reel never got finished and why I may not get to finish my Bus Stop entry. And in just a couple of weeks I need to start on the company Christmas animation! So if time allows I *might* have a bus stop entry but it doesn't look like it at the moment. I could always put something in the deleted/unfinished scenes part of the DVD.
  23. Watch the clock for 10 seconds and see if that' s all you could really get out.
  24. After you finish your animation, record an audio commentary to go with it! You can explain or expand on any relevant detail about how or why or what you did what you did. Make it the same length as your animation and submit it as a separate mono wav, 44.1KHz and I'll try to edit them all together as a DVD track. It's not mandatory but it's a fun extra you might enjoy doing. Start with your name, something like... "I'm John Doe and I..." or "This is John Doe. My animation is about..."
  25. Nice ship. Yeah, bevels always help. It would be cool if someone could make a shader that would make sharp corners look beveled.
