  1. that does work! I guess this is a genuine AMReport candidate then. Thanks!
  2. Is there any way we could buy him a pizza?
  3. Just gave it a try, didn't help. But worth a shot.
  4. Here's a turn-around. See how one quarter of the model does not shade like the other three quarters even though they all have the same map on them. Rotate.mov
  5. Dat's lookin' foist class!
  6. My model is 4 patches around. Patch image puts one bitmap on each patch. Three of the instances meet up fine with each other. One does not.
  7. Your image is not exactly "seamless" - I took it, applied it to ground plane, repeat 2 x 2, seamless ON. Looks like there's discontinuity 1 pixel wide?. Set mine to bump and turn the model around . Three of the four quadrants seam up together just fine. One does not. If the one pixel discontinuity is a problem, it would be a problem at every join, not just for one.
  8. Stian's image seems render correctly when used as bump, but why doesn't mine? It does tile horizontally and vertically as a color map but as bump, one of the four quarters of the pipe renders differently than the others. Here's the simple sample case... RopeBumpTest.zip Anyone know why?
  9. Thanks for this tidbit, Robert. When/where is it accessed, and how is it implemented? You hit play, and move the bone on-screen. Keyframes are created continuously. Of course it's only simple control, you're limited to one plane of translation only or rotation only.
  10. Even though my map appears to be a properly repeating map, when used as a patch image for "bump" something goes wrong.
  11. BTW, for anyone curious, the dancing was all done with A:M's little known "mouse capture" feature. I'm sure it can be. My first attempt with a patch image was unsuccessful however.
  12. Just curious... is it any different if you bake the sprites?
  13. Yes. Only way I know of.
  14. Nice! Care to augment that with some "All the girls in France do the hootchey kootchey dance" type music? No? Noooo??? well, just in case... Now updated with music at the top! That's amazing, I have never heard that whole song before (it has a verse?) nor did I ever know the name!
  15. Thanks! It does a little, but the spline ring is only 4 CPs and that doesn't give it enough flex to flatten completely. I was surprised the first time I tried it too.
  16. Herzlichen Glückwunsch zum Geburtstag! Keep on Codin'!
  17. Hair with an image with alpha (leaf) renders fine though report it then and see if it can be done. I wonder what is the "depth" at a 50% transparent surface? There is no single right answer. I am going to use the depth map to make Depth Of Field on a Thomas and friends animation test I am currently rendering. Reason why I don't use A:M's own DOF, is because of the increased rendertime (on top of the 15hr per frame sequence) and the lack of control in post. With a depth map I can control where to set my focal point in post For now I'd say render the smoke separately and approximate the DOF in post.
  18. I'm stumped on that one. It's probably greatly complicated by the fact that the particles are transparent. What will you be doing with the depth map?
  19. here's the literal URL in the post. Something is missing in the ... http://www.jostkeller.de/dreid/testing/Rhe...dRing151110.zip
  20. Fabulous! The zip URL is missing something, i couldn't get that.
  21. I think having a specific visual reference will help
  22. Have you made rotoscopes to work with?
  23. a cloth simulation. Rope_600.mov Update: Now with 50% more... ACTING! Snake_600.mov Update UPDATE: Now with authentic cartoon Egyptian snake music! DanceRopeDance.mov
  24. like that? CloudSprite3_Brown.zip
  25. that's the truth. I found myself re-doing each stroke about four or five times with a tablet. I got a 18" Cintiq off ebay a couple of years ago and like it quite a bit. I found it had a rather brownish cast to its color by default. Maybe they are trying to be like paper? But I've cranked the blue on my color control panel undo that some. My main complaint is the lag between the pen and the cursor.
