  1. Crazy idea... could a small text macro be written to strip out the second A and just leave f A B C?
  2. Could you export a quad model from A:M, then convert that into a proper triangle model in another App? Does Blender or other 3D modeler have a button to convert quad meshes to triangle?
  3. Do you need triangle export? What is the advantage over quads?
  4. Do you get a different result if you the model through some other polygon app, like Wings 3D, first?
  5. I suspect the "direction" maps may be of most use in animal furs that have a very definitive direction out of the skin.
  6. Yeah, I think it's originally Arthur's code. Anyone know how to contact him?
  7. 450° water sounds hot. Record hot for water. I suppose that has something to do with that 180°-rated pipe failing.
  8. I'm thinking my original curriculum might be a bit skimpy. Here's an expanded version. -Simple bouncing ball -Bouncing ball with squetch -Broad jump -Walk -Weight shift or side step -Head turns -Pose-to-pose acting exercise (this is definitely a more-than-one-session project) That's a lot of stuff, though.
  9. I'm flexible on this. It is difficult to find mutually convenient times, however.
  10. Yes, that is impressive hair!
  11. That's a good question. I sort of imagine each project being a one-week assignment. We meet, I explain what to do, we try it some, you come back next week with it done. But in coaching people I've found it's often better to split these things into smaller portions so there's an opportunity for mid-course corrections before someone goes completely down the wrong path. Some of those projects might span more than one week.
  12. Welcome to A:M!
  13. Without trying the PRJ myself, one work-around that comes to mind is to Bake the grass with the Streaks OFF and then turn the Streaks ON
  14. Is there still interest in an animation boot camp? The goal would not be to teach you all there is to know about character animation but to get you using A:M right so that you may make sense and good use of the abundant character animation information that is available now. I'm thinking there might be four projects.... -Bouncing ball -Broad jump -Walk -Pose-to-pose acting exercise. We'd need to find some time we could all Skype together once a week.

  16. Sounds powerful!
  17. Obviously not a Stealth Saucer.
  18. Even though displacement rendering is somewhat slow, I thing it is worth investigating since you could paint the gray scale maps for it faster than you can model these very dense grids. Displacement doesn't require dense geometry.
  19. Just to try it I re-downloaded the 64-bit installer and ran Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes on it and didn't get warnings.
  20. Whoops! It turns out "displacement" is not one of the choices you can makefor Projection Maps. Sorry! An animated decal could do the same effect although motion blur is harder to accommodate.
  21. Hooray! Compensate mode now defaults to ON when most constraints are chosen. That is probably what the catch was. There is a switch in the Options panel to revert that if you wish.
  22. I'll note that a sliding decal is done not with an traditional decal but with a "Projection Map" material.
  23. Crazy idea... What if the ground was stationary patches and giant decals for displacement and color were sliding on it to create the illusion of movement? The downside is that displacement is slow to render. See Fucher's post, below...
  24. How would you get all the edges of neighboring tiles to be matching elevations?
  25. Welcome back! When you get some questions, this is the place to ask. I like your rolling lime!
