I'm attaching a test I did several years ago where I 'think' I did what you are asking about. This was a test to see what a still photo would look like (previs) if they 'relief-printed' it onto a piece of custom molded plexiglass... I simply made a mesh in A:M... applied the image(with alpha mattes)... and adjusted the CP's in depth... adjusted the bias-handles... and rendered. Ronald_McDonald_Test_small.mov

Recent TV spot done in A:M
John Bigboote replied to John Bigboote's topic in Work In Progress / Sweatbox
Yes, the girl was wonderful. She is the daughter of the man who is speaking, he is a store manager/spokesman, and she has had the 'Tireman' character around her -her whole life... so she knows him as well as anyone and was directed to 'see an invisible Tireman and say hello to him'. -
Looking Great, Largento. Another idea... digital coloring book... Flash programmed...

d78c5e599c2a9c9d0bbd Man, I think I am guilty of NOT using AMFilms the way I should be... I just gave it another look, and it is pretty sweet. This is a test to see if the video shows here in the forum. Any A:M users in the Detroit/Lower Michigan area who are sports fans (Red Wings, Tigers, Pistons) have seen this spot to DEATH... it airs SO frequently. This is MY version of it... before the editors and sound effects guys did their work on it. I had 3 days to do this :30... a :15 and :10 versions as well. I was not present on the shoot, and the little girl did a wonderful job of 'dictating' where the Tireman character should be. There was lots of challenges with interacting foreground elements and lighting/reflections etc. A:M is perfect for this kind of work! Here is the Permalink: http://amfilms.hash.com/video/203/Belle-Tire-TV-commercial Hmmm... I see A:MFilms makes it's own forum posting... didn't know...sorry.

Awesome! The black background does not do too much for it... but it looks great in 1080p! Now THERE is a Youtube channel to subscribe to! I wish Youtube had a 'loop' feature...

Robcat wants to edit this project... not composite everyone's she-bang. If an individual wants to render to targas, and then composite their own scene... render it out and send a jpeg sequence to Robcat... jpegs are FINE... I use them in a professional post-production environment every day, you can set the amount of compression and at 10 or 12 they are near lossless. I asked for Quicktimes for the Pass the Ball movie... nobody ever asked why. Rob- should you need any help in post on this... I volunteer. I hope to enter a clip as well.

Notepad Space travel
John Bigboote replied to animation man hi's topic in Work In Progress / Sweatbox
Had a sort of Napolean Dynamite feel to it... what software do you animate in? -
864 X 486 720 X 405 854 X 480 All are basically the same, and render times/resolutions should not vary greatly. I'd pick one and update it in the giveaway project sooner than later... before too many people DL

If the 2 min clip was working fine... use it. A:M does not seem to 'choke' on long audio files...

Thought about it... it's 3X the render time and HD Youtubes take a long time to buffer. Maybe going up to 480p (854x480) could be optional. We can think about it. We did 'Pass the Ball II' at a resolution of 864 X 486 square-pixel. It is a 'poor-mans' HD format that I use all the time with GREAT results, and minimal render times comparable to D1 720 X 486. (Take a look at PTB2 to see if it will fit your needs... the link is in my signature) Youtube just looks for anything that fits the HD16X9 aspect ratio. I've got my idea...

Great additions to any collection David. I see you are a big user of porceline... do you notice an improvement with it? Does it still work in V15?
-
LOVE IT! I say it's still early, it should be discussed... but THIS looks more like where a bus stop would be... and it matches the vision I had in my head to a TEE! Great work!

My first and last roll of Kodachrome
John Bigboote replied to photoman's topic in Work In Progress / Sweatbox
HA! I used to run a big stat camera in the 80's too! I loved coming home reeking of chemicals... we dumped our used fixer/developer right down the drain-made me SICK... what were you recovering... silver? I don't miss it one bit. -
Ambient Occlusion differs from day to day
John Bigboote replied to John Bigboote's topic in New Users
HOLMES-I am always going back-n-forth between MP and regular renders... I try it both ways most of the time before I render to see which will suit better- always with varied results. DETBEAR- Wow...I'd like to see your show! Thanks! -
TWSS! (silly 'The Office' reference, I apologize.) All jocularities aside...pretty cool!

My first and last roll of Kodachrome
John Bigboote replied to photoman's topic in Work In Progress / Sweatbox
"Mamma- Don't take my Kodachrome away!"- Paul Simon Film had a great run... but it wasn't the most ecological of mediums. For many a year during it's heyday Eastman Kodak was one of the larger of corporate polluters. Viva digital! -
I hate to be the Knight who says 'nit'... but is the shrubbery just an image? Would it be optional to use?

I love the look that AO can give... but getting there is killin me! Friday I set up a AO render and let it fly all weekend... it was taking an hour per frame... not bad- I have some time to render this sequence. TODAY I am trying to do the same thing and NOT getting the same results (See image) Let me tell you how I go about getting AO and please check me if I am missing something: -Open up project and turn OFF or delete any existing lights. -Set the CHOR to GLOBAL AMBIANCE TYPE- COLOR -Adjust the color to an off-white, set the ambiance intensity to 70-90 ish -set the ambiance occlusion to 20-40 ish (higher equals longer renders...) -In the RENDER cue... turn ON Ambiance Occlusion under Options -render I know there is also a way to get an AO pass using EXRs... I am mixxing my passes in After Effects... what am I missing here???

Hard to please everyone... what details is the PHOTOGRAPH missing? -
Fun stuff! Screw the copyrights... anyways, their first legal action would be to ask you to take it down... if they do that... take it down. If you don't... THEN they can take further action.

Whoooa! Is that the image projected(applied) onto the geometry and then rendered in stereoscope? Awesome...! (work on that camera move though...)
