  1. This picture illustrates the final optional step... give all that reflectivity something to REFLECT. This is a common Photographers technique.
  2. Instructions for use: -Download the material and source image. -Import the image into your project.(Rt-click on images/import...) -Import the material into your project. (Rt-click Materials/Import...) -MAKE SURE that the environment material is being fed the cannonball image. (Hit the plus-sign on Chromium Material, make sure the image is being targeted.) -Drag the Chromium material onto a group of CP's that you want to be chromey. -When you RENDER, make sure Reflections and Plug-In Shaders are set to ON. -OPTIONAL: Place a flattened sphere or other simple geometry just behind the camera in the choreography... make sure this geometry is white with 100% ambiance. This gives nice reflected highlites into the chrome. Enjoy.
  3. WHAT TIMING!!! Try the material I just uploaded HERE: http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=41612&hl=
  4. Here is the material and the source image, if anyone else wants to try it. I would be interested in seeing the results. I've made some revisions... has more oomph to it now, note the blue... 5. What is your recipe for chrome? I did this with matcap(ambiance) + hash environment + reflectivity + FastAOCPU and it came out pretty nice. MLSallstar.mov
  6. Is it one project or all/any that are crashing. If it is one particular project, you can deconstuct it piece by piece to discover which feature/model/effect is crashing the render.
  7. yeah! this would be a good test for the 'flocking' duplicator.
  8. Lot of changes and improvements in the 12 years I have used this software... yet the fundamentals of splining and modelling are still sound. The MOST compelling improvement over the years is that the software does not crash with regularity like it used to, I would compare it to Adobe products today for crashibility.
  9. THUMBS UP! More than I expected... John Cusack would approve! Will you be flying her?
  10. Just breezed thru this thread, love the new blood. MANIAC, I like your style- that's your 1st character??? Your gonna be someone to watch! Alvee- hope you decide to come aboard- look at some of my work in my reel down in my signature. A:M is local based software...not 'cloud' based... altho- lately I have been starting a render at work and rendering finish frames to my Dropbox account, so at home I can open them up to see how my render is looking... I think you will need a credit card/debit card for the online subscription... don't know if A:M allows for PayPal yet.
  11. WAY TO GO Xtazzer! I had no time to enter this go-round... too bad too... apparently there was a 'TNA' sub-theme going on. I LIKE THE WINNER. (Question: Will 1 image be used for the mascot or both of them? I'd like to see just the 'baby's got back' pose.)
  12. Great stuff here!
  13. I saw the signature from Terry (Maniac) has a dog-tag in it and looks a lot like one I made last year... wanted to show him my animation- HERE! (I always believe the forum should have more 'show-and-tell' to it...) So, this is an After-Effects/A:M project for a TV show that may have never been seen... kinda of a 'join the Army and you too can become an elite professional' show. ARMY_ELITE_matts_version_small.mov
  14. VERY COOL! You forgot to label this from the 'They said it could'nt be done, department'. I like that a lot... I had tried doing a similar type thing with your other clouds from the other day... this is a much better way, sprites.
  15. Very cool! Can we see the wires to see how many layers?
  16. HA! Dig the Robcat china-ware! What were you testing there??
  17. Cool looking clouds. I'd be interested in learning how you got that. That's weird...no shadows...hmm!
  18. No, it can be a filled shape... sometimes it's good to fill it because then you can see if your 'holes' are open... such as in the letters A, O, P, B, D, Q, R,
  19. HI Shelton- I've not used either rig, but will try to answer. -I would think it would not matter whether you position the rig before or after. -You should be able to drag the 'top' bone in the face rig onto the head bone of the 2008 rig, and the child bones will follow.
  20. Yeah... I gottsa say that is pretty danged cool! Very original! Is it in V17? Any noticeable differences working with fluid? I see there is still a little jitter in the static fluid particles... but not too bad. FUN!
  21. MISSED IT! I was gonna 'show-up' too. Durnit! Hope it was the BESTEST EVER BURTHDAY!
  22. SO GERRY- Typically, you could only set 1 surface setting to the entire imported OBJ, right? Now you are saying that all the groups made in Max are individually controllable in the Chor of A:M?
  23. It may be helpful too to print the serial number onto the actual CD... for those of us who lose things regularly.
  24. Whaaaa? Checking-out 123D now. What a FIND! Works well with A:M??? Holy SHIZZ! These are major discoveries!
