Thanks everyone. Looking at After Effects CS6... looks like you will be able to do some dioramas 'like this' in that great new app too! A:M and AE were meant for each other...! http://www.video2brain.com/en/videos-17139.htm

I LIKE IT! Love the reactions of the office workers as he whizzes by them... great concept? How is the game programing coming?

The beauty of environment and matcap maps is that you can paint your own input image the way you want it.

Wanted to share a little show-and-tell. I just finished the second of a series of TV spots for a Michigan medical facility. The agency is using stylized artwork/illustrations in print and billboards and wanted to expand the look and style of them into :30 TV spots. My task was to try to make the illustration hold its own and be captivating for an extended amount of time, via animation. The way I went about it was to use A:M as a sort of 3D compositor to add dimension and movement to the image. By deleting all of the lights and using 100% global illumination and setting each layer to 'flat shaded' and 'no shadows' renders were quite swift. I used After Effects before and after the A:M process, before to generate image sequences of the characters moving, mainly using the puppet tool, and after to layer it all up and add titles/editorial effects.

Welcome jebeck! The prospect of A:M catching on in China is very promising... are you able to understand the interface well? Your English is coming thru well enough that we can understand you, good job. It would be great to see some of your work.

Re-roofing my house (with the help of A:M)

Well, I would think that is a major point of consideration... you may have a legitimate need to get to the peak of your house in the future... no? -

What is the 'treadability' of a metal roof like that- compared to shingles. If a serviceman or you need to get up to the peak, is it slippery-slidery on an angle like that? -
WOW! pretty cool!

Thanks!

HEY! It looks volumetric... does that employ volumetrics?

I would get a nice chrome texture, and shade it to white. There are a few to be found in the Contributors Cue, I made one HERE: http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showt...&hl=chromey

SSS faster now. Give your old PRJS a test (v17)

Awesome! More great improvements to the SSS feature! Can I take this moment to ask... when using SSS in multipass, would it make the render faster if pass 2,3,4etc just 'borrowed' the calculations from pass1 instead of a fresh recalculation every time? Now that you have it going so fast- I suppose it does not matter. GREAT WORK STEFFEN! -
DANG! They had some hot women in the 1800's!!! Speaking of HOT... hope you are doing okay. Whatthehellhappened???

Cool. Don't forget to use Chrome to see that, FF stalled. Big house dude! Sorry to hear of your dilemma. Keep us posted as of the progress, I too have a large roof that will need to be redone in about 5 years- I am interested in metal roofing. Will you have some friends to help you out or would you hire some young kids to help with the extra manpower? There should be at least 2 people involved in case something... happens. -

HA! Funny characters! I like them! I can recommend TSM, but it may be a little more than you need... do the characters just sit at the table or will they walk about? As far as 'hands not passing thru tables'... I don't know of any constraints that will do that... I usually leave that up to the animator (me) to see that it does not happen.

HOO RAY! thats is truly incredible, Charles. Welcome back... babbage-patch!

Looking great, Mark. Are you taking advantage of the new SSS speed improvements in V17beta5?

Happy Birthday, Grand Pubah! Wherever you may be!

More from my 'mindless trash' department... stuff I whittle away at while doing mundane corporate stuff to keep me from going over the edge... This is a WIP... still fiddling with SSS and you can see I get the black 'glitchies' now and then- don't know what that is. Several renders pop-on and off on this as I whittle away and weeks turn into months. OH- and here's a fun GIF with the same 'party girl' character, made with the same BVH action as I have on the girl in my avatar... a drunk walk: global.mov

Are you using Multipass when it crashes, or standard renderer. I am experiencing crashes mid-render with the standard renderer, switched back to MP... trying to gather if that solves it... or is SSS killing it. -
What extravagant design! All great posters! A joyous eyefull... Way to go, Nancy.
