If you want a material there are a few darktree materials that are tiles and you could use the toonnation brick material to make a tile

I am not a specialist I just treat AM as something to relax with and have fun ..I enjoy seeing what others do and in some cases assisiting they doing it. Every time I start up AM it is usually to do soemthing different depending on my mind set and lack of concentration but it always is fun

some of my projects from a website I had were included on the extra dvd. the website had a lot but the site vainshed when the person giving me space vanished. If I have time I plan to rebuild a site now I just have a couple of qt's up www.johnl3d.com. I aslo have a couple of other old sites at least one at geocities do a search for johnl3d and you should find them. I am currently working at a new job (think U-verse) and so do not have much time to create until I get my bio-clock reset Thanks for the compliments and if you need a dvd full of old projects... johnl you can also find a lot of stuff by searching my name on the forum..if there is an old link to johnl.inform.net let me know and I can upload the files

Ideas ...sometimes people email me with a question...sometimes a question appears on the forum...sometimes I get an idea after viewing something ...part of this is because I am not great at modeling etc but enjoy playing with all the parts of AM thats probably why I was nicknamed the Tinkering Gnome Johnl3d_TG

Okay I cleaned up the math a little and set up some reference points here is the wheel moving a a constant speed down the course rate_1.mov I am now going to try adjusting the speed through the use of the ease on the path and will post it here . I will also double the time . rate_2.mov Okay the first secoond the card travels 15% of path then zooms to the finsh The camera stays at a steady pace and so it gets ahead of the wheel at the beginning rate_2.zip

Thanks for the comments I know I needed some reference but it was getting late and the math I thought I could sneak by..I plan to tweak ut later but the ideas will help.

I was trying to show as speed increased there was faster tire rotation so I made the rotation in an action and gave it stride length then constrained the tire to a path. the first second I set the ease at 15% so the tire would rotate slow as it moved then at the end of the 3rd second I had ease 100% so it would race to the end.I added some streaks to help show the movement as well as a marking on the tire. Now I ask does this look right? rate.mov rate.zip I was doing this because of a question I received about expressions and I thought this would be easier Its a little rough but I am half asleep Johnl3d tink

You could clean the registry and then it would be a clean install there were directions for that on the forum before

very rough explaination To make a object appear one way is to set it in place where you want it to appear and make it transparent. here I set the tranparency of the sphere to 100% at frame 0 and the frame before it was to appear. The next frame I set the transparency to 0 and it appears. reverse to make it disappear To delay the sprites I set at frame 0 the emission rate to 0 and again at the frame before they began I set it to 0 then at the next frame I set it at 100% emission rate in the sprite system and then set it to 0 when I wanted it to stop. I had the life set to 10 frames so they would disappear before the sphere did appear1.mov scroll the qt back and forth to see the effect appear1.zip There is more detail as to why I did what I did just not sure how much info is needed Hope this helps...and there are other ways to get the same results but I use this one

haven't done much lately because of a new job so here is a combo...the images used are on the cd..... the "fish" uses expressions for its movement which also control the image changes..should have done more with the lighting but its late fish.mov fish.zip v15beta trying to get back into gear No I was not drinking...just diet coke

there is a brick material ...not at home so can't look....just look through the material tree when adding new material. I also think there is a brick image on the cd that could be used as a decal

check to see in tools if the folder for is correct and points to where the library file is

stiff cloth could crumble like metal sheeting if the crash is to show damage and not necessarily explode..you did say crash ..now everyone wants an explosion

Glow radius and intensity can be adjusted in the choreography tab ..this sets the amount for all objects. Each object can be controlled by varying the ambiance intensity and color to some degree the qt shows each 1st at 100% second a 50% and third at 0% ambience intensity and I varied the glow radius and intensity from high to low in the qt I hope this helps glow.mov This is all I know all .02 worth on glow

Well to be perfectly honest I posted this to help the Newbie trying to get his science lab together. I have been too busy lately to get anything creative going ...job hunting....becoming a grandpa...(I'd post a picture but Nancy will probably steal it for no good) etc. Anyway I have an Xmas idea I hope to get together. Oh the renders were not tweaked other than the lighting a little. But again thanks for the comments johnl3d almost as old as N.G. I tweaked the toon settings and added some detail to show you no animal was hurt rendering this image

okay first image with multipass turned off second image change to toon render project file done in v15 but should load in v14 sl.zip I made the cage bars with the sweeper plugin...Ricky was on the extra cd I embedded him in the project file
