Nice work, Jess! Did you write the music specifically for the animation or are you animating to match the music? Looks and sounds great!

Just couldn't finish in time
Paul Forwood replied to ectohippy's topic in Work In Progress / Sweatbox
Nice work, Matt! Shame you missed the deadline too. -
David, that's great! I'm looking forward to hearing some sound too.

First class! He is full of character and looks very animateable! Well done, Jeff. I'd love to see more.

Once you have applied a decal you can go in and adjust it's placement by double clicking on the stamp, in the PWS. A new window will open with a flattened view of your decalled geometry. You can move cps around in this window while viewing the results in any other window.

Going Photorealistic for the first time TARDIS
Paul Forwood replied to Elissa's topic in Work In Progress / Sweatbox
Hi, Elissa. I haven't got too much that I can add to what Ken has said. Bevelling and grime are definately required for photorealism. One thing that needs fixing is the horizontal window bars. At the moment they are thinner than the vertical window bars but they should be the same thickness. For texturing flat surfaces avoid using photographed textures that include reflections. In short, use your Tardis photos as references as to what goes where but paint new texture maps that don't include reflections. Use bump maps to add texture to worn areas or to add wood grain, if visible. Look at your Tardis photo. It looks as if the Tardis has been painted with a pale blue first and then overpainted with a darker blue. Try doing the same in Photoshop or your image editor of choise. I have only seen the first 10 minutes of episode one, from the new series, but I am looking forward to watching the rest later today. -
I love this work, Dagooos! The implant joke needs to be more obvious. Try rendering a closeup of the surgeon holding up the bags and try to give some other clue as to what they are. Cut back to the long shot and get him to pinch up a flap of pink skin before stuffing in the bags. Just a suggestion. You could still follow with the squash and pop. Great characters, great animation and great humour!

Frank That is one of the nicest pieces of A:M modelling that I have ever seen!!! Amazing! Please, please, please give the texturing some of the attention to detail that you have lavished on the model. I have a feeling that you will, having seen some of your other recent work. Watch the direction of the wood grain, especially. Stunning and inspiring to see this sort of work knocked together when you were bored. What are you like when you are driven by inspiration?

Bravo, Soulcage!!! Well done! More inspiring work! Keep pushing the boundaries, guys. You guys should be getting some kind of award for your work.

Well done, Agep! Stunning work!

Looks like a very nice piece of art deco in the making. The lighting really makes it! I'm intrigued by the two patches on the wall. Is that where they got hit by window tax?
-
Well done, Charlie! With a test like this I am now expecting great things from you! I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Nicely done, Aminator! 10 days to visualise, research, model, texture, animate and edit? That's quite an achievement! Did you use caustics or did you fake it somehow? Very nice whatever. I hope that they are suitably impressed to keep you busy with more commissions.

Thanks, Melissa. Yes, that's on the 'To do', list. They look worse in this test because they are sinking through the floor but I agree that they need to be more bulbous. Thanks for the crit, David.

Well, I started this model and the trail went dead so I'll show this low-res test here. The model still needs some tweeking and this test has got plenty of glitches, such as feet penetrating the floor, toes not spreading, and the pace is too fast. Shelving the project for the moment though. Critiques are welcome but remember that the models, lighting and animation are not finished.

Hi, Gary. I'm glad to see that you're still plugging away at this. I like the patch on the kite/glider. It looks like it's seen some action. You've got a few leaves penetrating the cloth a the moment but I guess you know that already.
-
Excellent modelling! I agree on the Aardman comments too.
-
Heh heh. I think we've all seen those, Ken, in The Art of Animation:Master. Credited to Avalanche Software. Eos, that is one amazing dragon! Well done.

Result from 3d rotoscope modeling
Paul Forwood replied to pleavens's topic in Work In Progress / Sweatbox
Thanks for the tip, Phil! Yet another great technique that I was unaware of. The image is excellent already but will you post a textured lizard if you do one? -
Wow! This is really starting to come together! Looking forward to some action.

I think that's a good idea as a teaser. It kind of sets the scene for the coming adventure. If you're thinking of doing the whole story as a comic I would let the film have a good long run before you release the comic, but I'm sure you realise that anyway. It's funny reading that first page. I expect to turn the page and find... COLIN! Sorry, Raf, that was another thread. Duel looks and sounds great!

Dagnabit, David! You and the rest of this forum are getting too good! That 360 is stunning! I don't know the Warhammer characters enough but my son recognised it immediately. There should be some outstanding work on display for this contest.

Just a test of image-based hair

Oh! Now I see!!! Thanks, Brian. -
Just a test of image-based hair

Beautiful! AGAIN!!! How many hairs do you reckon are in that image? -
Ken I think Antony is saying that the effect was created in Illusion but I bet you could do something similar with a few patches and a decal with alpha or a gradient material.
