  1. Thanks for checking out South Hill Park, Steven. It looks like they have some useful facilities there! I think it might be rather more expensive than we could justify at the moment. The last meeting lasted all afternoon and into the evening, with only five of us, and we could have gone on longer. I doubt that many would be willing to pay £40 - £50 for the privilege but it would be cool to see everyones work projected on a big screen. I don't know really. We need to see what all the others, and hopefully some new folk, think of the idea. Personally I think that, until the numbers get larger than can comfortably fit into a small room, we can manage to meet up for virtually nothing. I'll start looking for somewhere too but in the meantime perhaps some other British A:M users could chime in with their preferences and possible venues for a future meeting. The Chocolate Factory was a cool place to meet and is in central London, (all roads lead to London), but we were relying on the benevolence of the owner who is an associate of Sam. Or rather I think Sam got he venue as repayment for favours that Sam had done for him. We might be better off approaching a college. Most of them run media courses these days and wil have projectors or electronic whiteboards. Anyone else want to voice an opinion? Hello... hello... HELLO?
  2. I like it, Ken. Have you tried using hairs for the spikes. It seems a perfect candidate for the job. Make the base really wide and taper to a pont. I hope you'll be posting this guy in motion some time!
  3. Absolutely brilliant!!! How on earth did you guys manage to do it? Any chance of a glance at your storyboards? In fact I'd love to see a break down of how you set about this whole project from brainstorming to concepts to staging and choreographing. Of course I'll understand if you are saving all of that for the 'Making Of' DVD. I'll have to view it again tomorrow, when I'm not so tired, but I really enjoyed the first viewing!
  4. Oooo, that is so good! Very expressive faces! Well done, Shaun. Shame you didn't win.
  5. Oh, yes! Much more lively in the sunshine. That's a very impressive first model, agep! I find it hard to believe that you have never used any 3D software before. Very well done!
  6. Well done to all at Soulcage! That's a great start to 2005!
  7. This is a good idea for getting greater exposure but the problem that I have with the BA:M site is bandwidth. I would like to go all public with the site but as soon as I attract attention I run out of bandwidth. I have a current limit of 750 Mb per day I think. This makes it necessary to look at paying for a dedicated account for something which may only be updated sporadically. I guess a webpage on the Extra CD with an introduction and email link for people to request details of group meetings would be okay though.
  8. Not quite but I've got some others. Hve tried it with the IK-Hands Pose turned On and OFF? Sorry, Patos, but my original joy has subsided a little. I'm having trouble with the knees which have a tendency to point backwards and there only seems to be a thigh control for the left side. Any clues as to the knee problem?
  9. Turn on dynamics in your hair properties, create a force emitter and let them play together in an action or choreography.
  10. Very nice. Even better than the last one!
  11. Julian Thank you so much for sharing your project. I don't have a use for it at the moment but just knowing that the solution is there when the problem arises is a comfort. I enjoyed watching you crack this one. Well done to you and all who helped.
  12. That looks great, Raf! I just wondered, did you use TSM2 for the rigging?
  13. Cool character, Thierry! He looks ready for action!
  14. Wow! Ths is interesting. Is that output from After Effects or are you compositing in A:M?
  15. Hi, Gazza. This project is really coming along now, isn't it? I was just thinking that maybe BB would have furniture which matched the contours of his home. Just a suggestion.
  16. That's nice, Starwarsguy. The only thing that I would say at the moment is that you need to thicken your walls to more realistic proportions if you will be using shots like this.
  17. Possibly but there is nothing that would produce a reflection of that shape. The back wall is closed of except for a doorway, which is were the camera is positioned. There are two windows, each with a Klieg light, but the blue triangle does not match what I would expect. I may be overlooking a reflection from some other surface but I don't think so. Thanks for looking.
  18. Thank you, Jim. Thank you for your encouragement. I love what you have been doing with hair recently. Actually, I did manage to groom the hair, beard and fur into a satisfactory style but I did it in a model window and when I brought it into the choreography it went back to the 100% spikey look. Is there a way to bring hair styles into a choreography without them getting messed up?
  19. The images are not in chronological order. Image 1 was the last render though. Anyone know what is causing the blue triangle in the mirror? I guess that it has something to do with reflecting volumetric light but would like to be able to pin that down to avoid it in future renders. Critiques and Comments are welcome.
