To adjust where he pauses on the path go into the path constraint and click on "Ease" then a line with key frame placement will appear on the time line. Then you can select the point in the timeline where you want him to stop and select what ease percentage you want (0% is right at the beginning of the path and 100% is all the way at the other end). Then for example if you were at 2 seconds and set the ease to 40% You could go further along to say 2.5 seconds and set the ease to 40% as well and he should stay put until because you've told him to be at the same place along the path. I hope that makes sense. As for his direction. You should be able to adjust the rotate offsets in the path constraint settings at key points along the timeline to make sure he's facing where you want, when you want.

No problem, glad to help. Looking forward to seeing the finished one with the textures.

Hi Myron, I did a bit of googling and saw butterflies beat their wings between 5 and 6 times a second when they're zipping about. So I Edited the flitting animation to reflect that. Then I Figured insects tend to move really fast, then hover a bit, then move really fast again. So over the course of the 6 second sequence I adjusted the Ease value in the path constraint to make the butterfly flit to one spot then hover a bit and then flit to another spot. It's not perfect but you get the idea and you can tweak it to suit. butterfly.mp4 I've attached the changed .Prj but for whatever reason the original project didn't have the textures in it. Hope that helps you get closer to the effect you were after. Forum Butterfly altered.prj

Did it ever finish?
-
Yeah it upgraded to Windows 10 without any issues (I'm replying on it right now) it just can't detect the dedicated gpu and has to use the Intel HD graphics adapter.
-
Cheers for the clarification Steve. I didn't buy the laptop to do any heavy lifting on. If anything I got it for the wacom touchscreen for drawing with photoshop. I just wanted to share the experience with the forum in case anyone is upgrading older hardware. If I desperately wanted to use the GPU I suppose I could make a separate partition on the hdd, install Windows 7 on it and just keep off the Internet.

It detects system and graphics hardware, then detects basic sytem configuration and components. Then it attempts to install Catalyst install manager and throws and error saying Application install:Install Package failure. Then tells me failures occurred during installation and I have to click Finish.

It's Mobility Radeon HD 5450 in an HP Touchsmart TM2. It doesn't show up in device manager and the last driver available for it on HP's Support Page is dated 2010. I checked AMD's site and found what is listed as a Win10 driver and tried to install it but it fails during install.

Hi John, this article has some things you could try. Don't know if it would help https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.thewindowsclub.com/windows-could-not-configure-one-or-more-system-components/amp

Quick note about upgrading older hardware. Some of it might not be compatible with windows 10. That laptop I mentioned has an older AMD graphics card that Win10 simply won't detect so have to use the intel onboard graphics and the same goes for the bluetooth card. Even after installing drivers in compatibility mode windows 10 doesn't want to know.

That's very cool John. Very cool indeed. I'd never seen any of those before today.

I've voted, good luck everyone.

Yeah, it's like it remains totally consistent from 30 degrees rotating through to -30 degrees and then because some of the bumps become mostly obscured by other bumps it can't figure out how it should look. Which is pretty fair when you consider that it's working from a flat 2D image.

I updated a new (well new to me) laptop on Christmas day from 7 to 10 using the upgrade path and it didn't ask for any new activation code. It might do if you try doing a clean install though.

Happy New Year, Robert and same to the rest of the Forum crew. Here's to it being a great one.

Flat Santa trial with latest version of Am
Wildsided replied to johnl3d's topic in Tinkering Gnome's Workshop
Aww that's cute. I need to experiment with AM's 2D capabilities. Happy Christmas John! -
"You think it's funny to cover a guy in red and white paint? HUH! Just because I have tiny arms! WELL WHO'S LAUGHIN' NOW!!" Happy Christmas, Robert. Hope it's a good one.

And a very Happy Christmas and New Year to you too, good sir.

If you don't "mind" migrating to windows 10 you could use the upgrade path and select keep programs and files. I think that was a thing when I did it on my old laptop. Then at least all your stuff will still be installed. Most software from the past decade can be run in compatibility mode as well I think.

No problem at all, John. Sorry I didn't reply sooner. I just sat down to try and figure out why it wasn't working and saw that you had sorted it. Glad it worked out in the end. Good luck with the rest of the tree.

Looking at that model, John. I'd say you'll run into just as many resource intensity issues by having so many CP's (Extrapolating an entire tree from that one stem) that you would have by using hair. I had a little stab at making a transparency map for the image you posted at the start of the thread. If you apply the first one as a decal and set it to colour, then add the second image to the same decal (Right click on the images folder in the decal and select add image) and set that to transparency it should cut out the white area and leave just the coloured portion.

If my mum mentions something to me when we're talking. Facebook gives her an ad about it. Yet they swear blind the phones aren't listening to us.
