Great stuff, Marcos!

I just posted a biped Squetch Rig update here.
-
Here's another rig update that includes the new "toeIK", some installation fixes and tweaks, an increased ability to resize and move around elements of the FACE interface as well as being able to unlock the FACE controls to move them off of the character while using them. Now it's possible to set up the positioning of the FACE interface to another arrangement when unlocked if you edit the "Animation_Controls/FACE Interface/unlock_FACE_interface" Pose. Included here are an updated version of Squetchy Sam and the standalone FACE rig. If you do an installation, be sure to read the included text file...there is a minor change on the positioning of the FACE controls (now it's done in the installation Action). If anyone finds a problem, let me know and I'll correct it as quickly as possible. Next, I'll do a quick exploration of an auto shoulder...we'll see if it ends up working out. ----------------------------- EDIT ----------------------------- The installation rig is now updated to correct a problem with the elbow and knee fan bones when the arms and legs are modeled bent. ----------------------------- EDIT ----------------------------- Another quick fix...the size of the knee fan bones were not scaling during installation. It didn't really affect the functioning of the rig, but it bothered me. ----------------------------- EDIT ----------------------------- These files have been deleted, the next release is located here.

It's free to download. Another option, Camstudio is free.

Hi Everyone! Old user back from the dead.

I'm no expert, so my recommendations are suspect, Rusty. I like him. The thing I'm thinking is that the shine could be muted some and then maybe some SSS for the skin and slight transparency on the hair. Great stuff! -
The only thing I would add is that any bone with "geom" in the name will be unhidden in Bones Mode (all other bones will be hidden) after running the InstallRig plugin.
-
The InstallRig plugin is explained in the video tutorial I put together a few years ago...here (it explains how to build a rig that uses the plugin and what it will do). The 2008 Rig and the Squetch Rig both use this plugin for the installation process. While the plugin is included in the current version, you will have to add it for v13...it is available in these forums. You can still use the 2001 Rig, but there are several rigs that you would probably find easier to animate with. The LiteRig, 2008 Rig, TSM2 or the Squetch Rig (all free and available on these forums) would be the standard options, but you could also "roll your own". I haven't heard of a "Taylor" skeleton...so, I can't help with that. The "Show Some Backbone" tutorial explains how to install the 2001 (Thom) Rig. Hope that helps.

That was fun! I'll echo the critique on the smoothness of the splines, but I don't think it was a "deal breaker" in this animation.

Happy Birthday, Filip!

Lots of different ways you could go, John...it depends on what you're after. How about a Path Constraint with controls to shape the path along the length of the neck? ----------------- EDIT ----------------- I made a strap rig that might help...here. -
Nice! Great stuff, Mark.

He's progressing well, Jeff! I like how the hair is looking.

Very cool, Marcos! -
It looks like it will be a fun animation, Caleb!
-
Let's see, where to begin...it looks fantastic so far, Stian!

Great stuff, Jeff!

It just looks that way, Steve. I went back into A:M Films and added a link to the Quickstart tutorials in the forums so that the example files and subtitles would be available to people who only know about them from the Films area...and every change posted them as if they were new on the forums. I wish I were that prolific in a day.

Looks good so far! The only suggestion I have is to bevel everything.

Happy Birthday, Jesse Kiewiet!

I made a few minor tweaks and fixed a couple of things I found, so I uploaded a new version of Sam in this post. If you downloaded the previous version, get the updated Sam for any testing. If anyone finds a problem, let me know and I'll fix it as fast as I can. Once I get the installation rigs finished, I'll upload a stop-gap version before I go through the testing of the next possible addition. That addition (if it works out) will be the last for a while, since there will be a feature freeze...if you want something added, you need to mention it soon. ---------------------------- EDIT ---------------------------- A rig update is in the next post.
-
I just posted a test version of Squetchy Sam and quick demonstration video of the things I've been working on in the Squetch Rig...it's here. If anyone has time to see if it breaks, it would be very helpful.
-
It took me longer than I would have liked, but I think I've gotten the two updates I've been working on doing what they are supposed to do. Here's a test version of Squetchy Sam and a quick video showing what I added. If anyone finds a problem with the additions, let me know and I'll see if I can correct them. I'll get this stuff added to the installation rigs and then try a shoulder tweak that I'm not sure will end up working...we'll see. ----------------------- EDIT ----------------------- I made a few minor tweaks and fixed a couple of things I found, so I uploaded a new version of Sam here. ------------------------ EDIT ------------------------ This version of Sam has been removed, the next release is in this post.

Robert's Simplest IK leg tutorial might be helpful, John. -
Looks great, Mark!
