V17.0 Mascot Contest

We are looking for a entries to the v17.0 mascot contest the deadline will be 03/31/2012 please email all entries to support@hash.com I’m sorry this is so late but and if the dead line is short. I'm sure I forgot something so if you have any questions please ask. I will also be working on a better voting system then what was used last year.

 

Rules:

• All entries must be modeled and rendered in A:M. Third party paint programs like Photoshop can be used for painting texture decals
  
• By submitting your work, you are granting Hash, Inc license to reprint the work, including but not limited to promotional material, cd/dvd covers, splash screens, web sites, and articles
  
• Submissions must be substantially original work done by the submitter, and the submitter must not use any copyrighted work without permission
  
• Must submit one copy of Mascot with No background at 1440w x 1920h
  
• Voting entry must be at least 1440w or larger
  
• No Offensive or Porno graphic images
  

 

 

 

Prizes:

• First Place Will get 200.00 Hash, Inc. Gift Certificate
  
• Second Place Will get a 100.00 Hash, Inc. Gift Certificate
  
• Third Place Will get a 50.00 Hash, Inc. Gift Certificate

Will this be a public vote among users or will Hash Inc. choose the winning image?

 

Do the images have to be raw renders or can they be touched up in Gimp, Photoshop, or whichever image editor we choose?

The Community will vote on this, I'm not sure what the stance in on Post Edit in other programs so I will wait for a few comments before posting on that.

... I already asked in other topic, but here is it again: are we talking about character contest or a splash screen contest ?? The splash screen isn't necessarily a character, right? It can be a castle, car, tree, ship, spaceship.....my vote goes to... Splash screen.

There aren't two different contests so you've got me scratching my head here.

The Mascot and the Splash Screen are one and the same thing. The only difference being that the image that wins the Mascot contest hasn't always been placed on the splash screen/CD for one reason or another (I assume for copyright restrictions, etc.).

 

As for it not being a character/mascot? Nothing precludes entering non-character entries but you should understand that if entering a castle, car, tree, ship, spaceship it will be judged at least partially by many on how well it fits into the contest theme (i.e. Mascot). I know in the past I didn't vote for some really nice images because they weren't mascots and the objective was to pick a new mascot for the splash screen.

 

I might have missed something but this seems pretty straightforward to me.

One way this has been attacked before in previous contests is that if you've got a great non-mascot scene consider adding a character into it (or teaming up with someone else in the community to provide that mascot).

 

Now, if you are suggesting that a new contest needs to be created besides the Mascot/Splash Screen contest... by all means make the suggestion.

I can be anything you want Cars, Boats, Houses, Maybe a tree but it would have to be a really cool tree haha..

 

I will extend it to the end of march.. But i was late on getting this done(This does not have a lot to do with Hash, Inc. but it's effecting my work. My stress level has been off the charts for some time)

Also after this contest is done and a few other things have wrapped I will be looking to making a new contest. It will also have something for the winners. Maybe not as much as the mascot contest. But I will put some time in to trying to get a few a year.

I haven't had any time either. I have a character I've been working on for something else, but I haven't been able to get back to work on him yet.

I will be doing more this year. When i was high on cold meds i thought of a good one but now i forgot it. I posted my return to soon but the vote should be up tonight or tomorrow for sure.
